Exhibition - Modern Maharajah - Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris
The extraordinary home of Indore's maharajah, Yeshwant Rao Holkar II, visionary personality of the European cultural milieu of the 1920s-1930s, who in 1929 commissioned his German friend the architect Eckart Muthesius the Manik Bagh Palace, the very first Modernist construction of India.
The Berliner ensured its realization by transforming the foundations of a pre-existing building into a new private residence, then entrusted the furnishing and furnishing to the biggest names in contemporary design.
