The BEST Thing While Traveling, Kurdistan Turkey // Overland Series Ep. 10
One reason why we travel is to meet people on the road, in Kurdistan, Turkey we were lucky to meet locals and other travelers to listen to their stories.
We are driving from Mt Nemrut through the southeast of Turkey, greenfields, and dry grasslands chase each other as we make our way through Turkish Kurdistan. The high plateau is home to the biggest minority in the country, the Kurds. the Kurds are traditional nomads and live from their herds of sheep, goats, and cows. Most of the kids grow up learning the Kurdish language from their parents, cause the Kurdish language and traditions are banned and get not taught in school. We experienced the Kurdish community as one of the warmest and most welcoming people that we met.
On our way east we went through Diyarbakir, Bingöl, Erzurum, and Kars before we crossed the Turkish Georgian border north of Cildir Gölü. In Diyarbakir, we got invited by Mehmet and his friends and coworkers, for coffee and Baklava. Thank you so much for having us it was a pleasure to meet you guys. Mehmet is a professor at the University of Diyarbakir and a farmer, he and his team are growing wheat, corn, rice, lentils, and cotton. In the afternoon we drove to the region of Bingöl where we stayed in a colony of frogs for two days to edit a video.
On the way towards the border with Georgia, we bumped into Chris and his three daughters Jemanja, Sohalia and Yumi, traveling by bike through Europe and Central Asia towards southeast Asia. We cooked and spend the evening together, sharing stories around the fire.
The next day, we drove to Cildir Gölü where we spend two nights on the small island to finish the video and relax.

They survived ISIS - Lalish Yazidis and Alqosh Christians, Kurdistan Iraq | EP24
We rented a car in Erbil and drove all the way to Dohuk, passing by the incredible villages of Lalish and Alqosh. Two villages known for their rich Yazidi and Assyrian Christian cultures. Both groups were persecuted for a long time especially during the IS regime in central Iraq resulting in a big diaspora all over the world.
We talked to locals to learn more about their cultures and find out how their history shaped them.

What an amazing venue to host a wedding and the wedding itself was very small for what I'm used to when it comes to Arabic weddings but it certainly did not disappoint !!

Cześć !!! Udało Się !!! Osiągnęliśmy cel naszej wyprawy. Dojechaliśmy do przepięknej Brugii :)
Czy to miasto jest tak piękne jak mówią? Muszę powiedzieć, że jesteśmy zachwyceni jego architekturą i urokliwymi kanałami. Na początek przejdziemy przez Ezelpoort - Oślą Bramę - jedną z czterech średniowiecznych bram Brugii. Następnie zaliczając po drodze późne, słodkie śniadanko ;) udamy się na Grote Markt czyli Główny rynek miasta. Tam zobaczymy Wieżę Beffroi. Tłumacząc z języka Francuskiego: Dzwonnicę, na której znajduje się punkt widokowy. Herkese selamlar. Seyahatime Güney Amerika'da devam ediyorum. Bu videoda, Ekvador sınırında başımdan geçenleri sizlerle paylaşacağım. Kendi kendime bu nasıl sınır diye sorduğum, hayatımda gördüğüm en garip ülke gümrük kontrolünü deneyimledim. Peru Ekvador sınırında başıma gelenler tam bir komediydi. Önce Ekvador'a istemsizce kaçak girdim. Sonra durumu farkedip Peru tarafına geçtim. Gitmem gereken gümrük kapısını (pasaport kontrol noktasını) buldum ve Ekvador'a yasal olarak giriş yaptım. Ekvador'un sınır şehrinde birkaç saat geçirdim. Yerel halkla biraz sohbet edip yemek yedim. Ülkeye adım atar atmaz Ekvador sokak yemeklerini denemeye başladım. Daha sonrasında gece otobüsü güle Cuenca'ya yolculuk yaptım. Yorucu ve değişik bir gündü. Artık Ekvador maceramız başlıyor...

Step inside history as we explore the chilling Red House in Erbil, a former centre of intelligence and torture centre under Saddam's regime, now a museum honouring freedom since Kurdistan's liberation in 1991.
Today we take a sombre turn as we uncover the region's past, from the portraits of thousands of Kurds who sacrificed their lives, to the remnants of conflict with ISIS. Although, the most harrowing sights lie within the detention centre, where the innocence of many was crushed under brutal torture methods. Witness the echoes of resilience in a place marked by both cruelty and courage.
