Prague 4k walking tour: Vltava embankment, Náplavka at Sunset 🇨🇿 Czech Republic HDR ASMR

On today's Prague 4k walking tour, we will move along Vltava embankments from Naplavka to the National Theater.

Náplavka is a coastal area or road at a lower level than the embankment itself.

00:00 Rašínovo nábřeží is currently the most attractive and socially lively area on the banks of the river in the central part of Prague. Visitors have a beautiful view of the Hradčany skyline, which tourists often seek after. The Rašín embankment area, or rather its embankment, offers an endless number of activities during the year, from regular farmers' markets to sports, cultural and gastronomic events. In the reconstructed initial dungeons, shops, cafes, and bars are in the embankment wall.
Náplavka nábřeží is a continuous space in the section between the peninsula of Vyšehrad rock near Výton and Jirásek bridge near Žofín.
The premises vaulted into the embankment wall of the Rašínov embankment and the Hořejší nábřeží, the so-called KOBKY, which in the past served as a repository for floating material on the Vltava, underwent gradual reconstruction and were ceremoniously opened in October 2019. The rebuilding of historic dungeons into cafes and galleries breathed new life into Prague's floodplains. The reconstruction of the jails has gained worldwide attention and received several prestigious international awards. Visually and artistically, the most visible addition is large round windows, which function as revolving pivot doors, in addition to the arched vault of the six dungeons on Rašínovo nábřeží. The windows leading to the dungeons are the largest of their kind in the world.

13:30 Masarykovo nábřeží is the name of the embankment on the right bank of the Vltava opposite Slovanské ostrov (Žofín) in Prague. It is bounded by the Jiráské bridge and the square and the Legion bridge with Národní třída. It was named after the first Czechoslovak president in 1990. Although this section offers excellent views of the city, the heavy traffic of cars and trams and the cramped conditions make this section less pleasant. Until the 19th century, this embankment was unregulated; several mills and tanners worked here. Part of the embankment along Žofín was completed in 1903 and, together with today's Smetana embankment (Masarykov embankment during the First Republic), was called Františkovo nábřeží. From 1912, this part was called Riegrovo nábřeží (except the period 1940–1942, when it was part of the Vltava embankment, and the years 1942–1945, when the entire Vltava embankment was renamed, Reinhard Heydrich Ufer). For 1945–1948, this embankment was still Riegro's, but already from 1948 Gottwald's embankment, after the recent successor of the late dr. Edvard Beneš as president of Czechoslovakia. In 1952, the part around the National Theater was connected to the embankment, which in the years 1886-1952 was called Tylovo nábřeží and during the Second World War Nábřežní ulice hórejší. In 1990, the entire embankment was renamed Masarykovo.

Prague walking tour in Vinohrady district, Havlíček Gardens (Grébovka) 🇨🇿 Czech Republic 4k HDR ASMR

Today's Prague walking tour will take you through the streets of the Vinohrady district and visit the beautiful Havlíček Gardens.

Havlíček Gardens (Grébovka - Havlíčkovy sady), inspired by the Italian Renaissance, has fountains and water cascades, lakes, pavilions, statues, and a charming grotto, as well as a unique view of the city. The lovely vineyard Gazebo is surrounded by extensive vineyards. The Grébovka Pavilion garden café, with its fantastic replica of the original historic bowling alley from the 1870s, offers pleasant places to sit. The Gröbovka garden is defined by the street called U Havlíčkových sadů, Rybalkova Street, and the Botič Stream. It was established as an actual part of the newly built estate of factory owner Moritz Gröbe. Villa Gröbe (Gröbovka, Grébovka) On the slope between Botič and Vinohrady, there used to be two estates with vineyards, Dolní (Lower) and Horní (Upper) Landhauska. In 1870, the estates and the land plots were purchased by an entrepreneur Moritz Gröbe. He had the Upper Landhauska demolished and built his summer residence there, creating a beautiful English park around it. The two-storied villa in a spectacular Italian Renaissance dwelling style was designed by Antonín Barvitius. The actual construction was conducted by builder František Havel in 1871 - 88. The interiors were designed by Josef Schulz. The house's facade, just under the roof, is decorated by a band of frescoes with children's motives by painter Kugler. The sculptural decorations in the interior are the work of sculptor Item. A massive terrace on the villa's ground floor is connected with the recently renewed St. Clara's Vineyard on the slope below the house via a two-flight staircase. There is a splendid view of the town's Southern part from the ground-floor terrace. After Gröbe died, his heirs rented the villa. The granddaughter of Emperor Franz Joseph I found accommodation here with her husband, prince Windischgrätz. When the prince was ordered to Vienna, they left the villa. In 1905, everything was purchased by the Vinohrady district. For a time, the house was used by the University of Forestry. In 1937, the City of Prague established a Baxa's habitat facility for children's tours for temporary accommodation for the youth visiting Prague. It was named after chief magistrate Baxa. During the occupation, the villa was annexed by the German Nazi organization for the youth Hitlerjugend. On 14 February 1945, a part of the garden was severely damaged by bombing and subsequent fire. After the war, it was re-opened in 1953 and used as a House of pioneers and youth. There were some insensitive interventions, both constructional and in decorations. At present, the objects are maintained by the Prague 2 municipality. Reconstruction was completed in 2007.
The residential house at Lower Landhauska was preserved but modified in a new-Renaissance style. The formation of the surrounding premises was also inspired by the Italian Renaissance - the terrace and staircase leading to the vineyard, Grotta, theatron with a fountain and water cascade, a pond and waterworks, pavilions, and statues by Bohuslav Schnirch. The Grotta and the rock gardens were designed by Josef Vorlíček.
Moritz Gröbe died in 1891, and it was problematic and costly for his heirs to keep the estate running. After the death of Gröbe's wife, they rented it, and in 1905 they sold it to the town of Královské Vinohrady, which made some necessary modifications, and on the16 May 1906, opened it to the public under the name of Havlíček's Park. The natural diversity of the place was used in establishing the garden. Park modifications were, from the beginning, realized in the spirit of an attractive year-round place with picturesque corners and nicely perfected terraces. The garden was well kept and locked in even until World War things. The bombing of Prague on 14 February 1945 damaged the villa, the entrance gate, and the vivarium (small zoo), and the garden became freely accessible without limitations. After clearing war traces, the park's historical value was gradually destroyed due to the lack of finances for maintenance and vandalism. In 1964, the area was declared an immovable cultural monument. The garden has a diversified assortment of woody plants - up to 120 kinds. The vineyard was established in place of a former terrain shift, to which 60,000 horse carriages of earth were brought during the construction of the Vinohrady tunnel. Among the varieties grown in the vineyard, there is also Müller - Thurgau, Pinot Gris, and Pinot noir. The vineyard extends 1.7 ha, and annual wine production amounts to 4,000 liters.

Malá Strana (Lesser Town) is a district of Prague, Czech Republic, and one of its most historic neighborhoods. It is on the left (west) bank of the river Vltava, on the slopes just below Prague Castle. The name distinguishes it from the more prominent districts of Prague on the right bank, with which it is linked by the Charles Bridge.
Initially, when it was founded in 1257, the district was called the New Town beneath Prague Castle (Czech: Nové Město pod Pražským Hradem). When Charles IV founded the New Town of Prague in 1348, Malá Strana was renamed the Lesser Town of Prague (Czech: Menší Město pražské). In the 17th century, the unofficial name Little Quarter (Czech: Malá Strana) was used.[iew of Malá Strana from St. Nicholas Church
In 1419-1420 the Malá Strana was burnt down by Hussites. In 1541 the town was strongly damaged by a fire that killed fifty people. After this fire, the city was rebuilt in the Renaissance style, and many palaces of nobility were built there.

Újezd connects Karmelitská Street with the Kinsky Square. It measures about 550 m and in the past used to be part of the old road that led from the Lesser Town Square to South Bohemia and Germany. The Újezd territory belonged to Smíchov, and it used to be one of the oldest settlements in Prague. The Hunger Wall, built during the reign of Charles IV, cut the street in the middle – there used to be a gate to the Lesser Quarter. The name is derived from the word újezd – farm, land, which can be bypassed. Today, it is a vital traffic junction as it serves both automotive and tramway traffic. Here, you will also find the funicular to the famous Petřín Hill and many excellent pubs and bars worth visiting. More importantly, there is a memorial to the victims of Communism located at the base of Petřín Hill - it is a rather disturbing series of statues dedicated to the victims of the Communist era between 1948-1989. The memorial was unveiled on May 22, 2002, and is the work by the Czech sculptor Olbram Zoubek and architects Jen Kerel and Zdeněk Holzel. It is a unique work of art – male statues appear to be disintegrating and decaying before our very eyes, the first man whole to the last man, who becomes nothing and stands as a symbol of to what extent the political prisoners of the regime were affected. An interesting touch is the bronze strip in the center of the stairs – it tells the estimated number of people affected by the Communist regime.

Smíchov is a district of Prague (since 1909), the capital of the Czech Republic, and is part of Prague 5. It is on the west bank of the Vltava river.

Anděl is a neighborhood in Prague 5's central district of Smíchov, centered on a busy interchange. The name means 'angel' in Czech and originates from the 19th century U zlatého anděla (Golden Angel) pub, initially after a fresco in the gable depicting an angel. The painting of an angel was preserved after its demolition and is now displayed nearby the metro station entrance. Anděl is a vital traffic center. Prague Metro's Line B runs beneath it, Anděl Station serves the area. Tramway lines cross north-south and east-west directions (4, 6, 7, 9, 10, 12, 14, and 20). Otherwise, it is a pedestrian zone. After redevelopment in the late 1990s, when French architect Jean Nouvel designed an office building called Golden Angel (Zlatý Anděl) above the Metro station with a picture of an angel from the movie Wings of Desire and quotes from Rilke on its facade, Anděl became one of the busiest parts of the city, with many offices of national and international companies. Across it (in the northwest quadrant), one of Prague's most extensive shopping malls, Nový Smíchov, can be found, including multiplex cinema Cinema City; another multiplex, Cinestar (former Village Cinemas), is nearby in the Anděl City complex. Smíchov Synagogue is also in the area.

This is the Prague Metronome overlooking the Vltava River in Letna Park in Prague, Czech Republic as seen on July 2, 2017. As revealed by the sign, this was built on the former site of a monument to Stalin which had been dynamited in 1962. The view from the area around the Metronome is stunning.

Czech beer. Butcher shop bar - Bejk Buu

Bejk Buu, situated on the outskirts of Prague in Modřany, is rather unique. It's primarily a butcher shop, that also sells alcohol, and has quite an extensive menu. You can also take-away! This is what we love about the beer-drinking culture of this country. The Czechs attach a bar to almost anything, creating these quirky establishments, like Bejk Buu. Love it! have to mention that our waitress was just superb.
