Places to see in ( Baltimore - USA )
Places to see in ( Baltimore - USA )
Baltimore is a major city in Maryland with a long history as an important seaport. Fort McHenry, birthplace of the U.S. national anthem, “The Star-Spangled Banner,” sits at the mouth of Baltimore’s Inner Harbor. Today, this harbor area offers shops, upscale crab shacks and attractions like the Civil War–era warship the USS Constellation and the National Aquarium, showcasing thousands of marine creatures.
Baltimore is a popular tourist destination in Maryland, in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States of America, near Washington, D.C. It is perhaps most famously known historically as the city where Francis Scott Key wrote the lyrics for the Star Spangled Banner during the Battle of Baltimore of the War of 1812. Today it has become a major center for tourism and travel. Local highlights include excellent seafood (steamed blue crabs, raw oysters, Maryland crab cakes, and Maryland crab soup) and Camden Yards (the first retro major league ball park and where the Baltimore Orioles play). Baltimore possesses a vibrant arts scene with the largest free arts festival in the US (Artscape) occurring annually in July, a renowned arts museum American Visionary Arts Museum that is dedicated to outsider art, and the Maryland Institute College of Art and the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins. It is also home to Johns Hopkins University, Morgan State University, University of Baltimore, Loyola University, Goucher College, and the Notre Dame of Maryland University.
Baltimore has an absolutely staggering number of officially designated neighborhoods, Inner Harbor, If you are a tourist, you come here. Fells Point could not be more complementary to the Inner Harbor—historic. An incongruous mix of Baltimore's central business district, the University of Maryland-Baltimore, the awe inspiring Lexington Market, the infamously seedy Block, and the Bromo Arts District.
One of the nicest sections of the city, home to the performing arts district, Penn Station, and a host of other attractions (Walters Art Museum, the original Washington Monument, dining and wining on Charles St, the University of Baltimore, Station North Arts District etc.) that most visitors foolishly pass over. South Baltimore
Industrial blue-collar South Baltimore is dying, and is quickly being replaced with upscale gentrified neighborhoods like Federal Hill.
Most visitors to the area know only Johns Hopkins University and the always interesting commercial strip along Charles St nearby. But it is unfortunate that they overlook the quirkiest of quirky neighborhoods, Hampden. Infamous West Baltimore. If you have watched the Wire, this was where the crime was taking place! But don't be fooled. There are some major tourist draws here, like the Maryland Zoo in Druid Hill Park, Pimlico Racecourse, and Edgar Allen Poe's House.Baltimore's great rivalry between east and west is certainly an example of the narcissism of small differences. Attractions in the east are very few and far between, but things are changing fast as booming Johns Hopkins Medical Campus expands and demolishes in its wake.

Where we visited (in no order):
Patterson Park
Had a few things backward. Druid Hill Park is the largest park in the city, however, it is nicknamed Best Backyard in Baltimore. Patterson Park was established in 1827 and named for William Patterson (1752–1835). The park consists of open fields of grass, large trees, paved walkways, historic battle sites, a lake, playgrounds, athletic fields, a swimming pool, an ice skating rink and other signature attractions and buildings
Fell's Point
Fell's Point is known for its hip pubs and taverns, many with live music, as well as seafood joints serving Chesapeake Bay crab and oysters. Small galleries, record stores, fashion boutiques and eclectic restaurants line the cobblestone streets along the harbor and main square. The Frederick Douglass-Isaac Myers Maritime Park Museum explores African-American nautical history in a former industrial building.
Miss Shirley's
Miss Shirley's had two locations in Baltimore and at least one more in Annapolis. Established and created in 2005 by longtime restaurateur and Baltimore native, Eddie, as he was affectionately known, Miss Shirley’s Cafe was named in loving memory of a personal friend & inspirational team member, Miss Shirley, who passed away in 2001. Shirley, a food professional at The Beef Inn & The Catering People, was known for her sassy charm and sheer joy of preparing dishes for catered celebrations in the community.
Ministry of Brewing
Ministry of Brewing is based in the former St. Michael’s Church and is hoping to revitalizing a historic community gathering place in a different way.
National Aquarium
also known as National Aquarium in Baltimore and formerly known as Baltimore Aquarium. The National Aquarium is a non-profit public aquarium located on Pier 3 in the Inner Harbor area of downtown Baltimore, Maryland.
Pickles
Established March 17, 1988, Pickles Pub is a longtime Baltimore tradition. The #1 place for sports fans to watch their favorite teams for over 30 years.
Camden Yards
Ready for my random facts about this ballpark?
Oriole Park at Camden Yards is the home of the Orioles since April 6, 1992.
Babe Ruth never played for Baltimore, but he is from there. His father owned a building that was a saloon on the bottom level and the family's home on the second floor of the building known to be located somewhere out in what is now center field at Oriole Park. Pretty cool, huh?
Maybe that's why they've been losing for so long; the Babe doesn't want the O's beating his Yankees...
Fun Fact number 2. To this day, Ken Griffey Jr. is still the only player to ever homer off the Camden Yards warehouse!
M&T Bank Stadium
M&T Bank Stadium is immediately adjacent to Oriole Park at Camden Yards and home of the Baltimore Ravens.
Captain James Seafood Palace
Seafood comes a plenty in Baltimore, Md. I like Captain James because it's shaped like a merchant vessel. Crabcakes and Football. That's what Maryland does!

The Best Places to Visit in Ireland Milford Mill Ireland Co Carlow Cinematic Drone Video - DJI Mavic
The first mill to sit on this site was built around 1775 by a James Conolly Esq. In the late 1780s, John Alexander, a member of Northern Irish family of Scottish extraction moved to County Carlow, purchasing lands in Ballygowan, Ballinabranna, Craanluskey, and Tomard. The mills that can be seen to this day were subsequently built under the auspices of the Alexander & Conolly. The two mill wheels were designed by William Fairbairn of Manchester, with the wheels being 18 and 22 feet wide respectively. The mill had a turnover of £195,000 a year by the 1830s. Mr. & Mrs Hall's Ireland described the mills as one of the most extensive and celebrated in Ireland in 1840. The mill and the eight acres on which it sat were valued at £307 during the 1853 Griffith's Primary Valuation of Tenements. The mill exported to Manchester and Liverpool, and were shipped by barge to Waterford and Dublin. At its height in the 1860s the mill was said to have the most powerful millwheels in Britain or Ireland In 1825, Alexander bought out James Conolly, and the mill was refurbished.
On Tuesday 4 November 1862 the flour mills were totally destroyed by fire. Smoke was seen at 11:30pm coming from the windows of the upper lofts, and was witnessed by the Milford Constabulary and raised the alarm. The fire was seen by the Carlow police a few miles away, who also mobilised to the scene along with those from Leighlinbridge and Muine Bheag. The Carlow fire brigade came to the scene under the command of sub-inspector Medlicott. Despite this the entire building was engulfed in flames, destroying the machinery and stored corn, with the first floor and six lofts collapsing. The fire was contained to the mill itself, with the nearby malt houses surviving. The wheat burnt for some time after the main fire was extinguished. The Carlow Sentinel described the mill as a sad scene of havoc and desolation. It was hypothesised that the fire was started by sparks from the friction of the grinding stones igniting some of the corn.
The extant malting building was later used as a tannery, which was established by a leather merchant, Kennedy O’Brien, in the 1940s. The tannery processed sheepskins from around Ireland, with the leather supplying shoe factories across the country. It also exported leather and chamois to the United Kingdom and the United States. Over 100 people were employed at the tannery at its peak in the 1950s. Another fire in July 1965 gutted the structure again, closing the tannery and drawing to an end industrial activity at the site.
