Welcome to my YouTube channel Musafir! In today's video, I'll be taking you on a virtual tour of the historical city of Bhuj in the Kutch district. Join me as I explore the top 10 must-visit places in Bhuj in this comprehensive travel guide.
Starting off with the number one spot on our list, we have the Smritivan Arthquake Museum. Located about five kilometers from Bhuj Railway Station, this museum is the largest in India. Situated atop the Bhujia Dungar hill, the museum covers an area of over 470 acres. Divided into seven blocks, the museum is dedicated to the survivors of the devastating earthquake that struck Kutch. With its lush greenery, check dams, sunset point, and even a solar plant, Smritivan is truly a unique and educational experience.
Next up, at number two, we have the Prag Mahal and Aina Mahal. These two palaces are situated in the same compound near Bhuj Railway Station. Prag Mahal, built by Maharaja Rao Pragmalji II in the Italian Gothic style, features the impressive Darbar Hall and Clock Tower. Adjacent to it, the Aina Mahal, constructed in the European style, displays a stunning collection of mirrors and glasswork. Despite the earthquake's impact, some parts of Aina Mahal have been transformed into a museum.
Moving on to number three, we arrive at the Vande Mataram Memorial. Located around 10 kilometers from Bhuj Railway Station in the Bhujodi village, this memorial is dedicated to India's freedom struggle. Its architecture resembles the old Parliament House and showcases significant events leading to India's independence.
At the fourth spot, we visit Ramkund, a historical stepwell located near the Kutch Museum. With its intricate carvings and depictions of Lord Vishnu's avatars, Ramkund is a remarkable architectural marvel.
Number five on our list is the Khari River, also known as Kuvadava River. It is a natural phenomenon and a testament to the marvels of wind and water erosion. The riverbed resembles an umbrella due to centuries of carving by wind and water.
The Kutch Museum takes the sixth position. As the oldest museum in Gujarat, it features an extensive collection of artifacts, coins, paintings, sculptures, and musical instruments, all showcasing the region's rich history.
Seventh on our list is the Swaminarayan Temple, situated by Hamirsar Lake. This temple is a dedication to Lord Nar Narayan and offers a serene atmosphere for visitors to explore.
Number eight brings us to Chattardi, a historical site with umbrella-shaped structures that house the tombs of Kutch's rulers. Its unique architecture and serene surroundings make it a captivating site.
Moving on to number nine, we have the Hamirsar Lake, an artificial lake in the heart of Bhuj. This massive lake was created by Rao Hamir over three centuries ago and is surrounded by beautiful gardens, including Rajendra Park.
Last but not least, at number ten, stands the Adiyogi Statue. Resembling the Adiyogi statue in Coimbatore, this eight-foot-tall statue in Bhuj symbolizes an aspect of Lord Shiva.

Complete track to Mehar Jabal (Goth Sukhio) starting from Lyari Expressway. It took us less then 6 hours to go and come back with few tea stops on the way. We stayed an hour on the top. Cars with good road clearance can easily reach the top.
The drone capture at the end of the video is by Talal Ansari and Raza Siddique of Blackbird Adventure.
Meher Jabel (Hill), about 1600ft above sea level, Its less then 100kms from Karachi city center and about 65 kms from Gulshan-e-Maymar.. It is a plateau, about 10kms in length and 4 kms in width.
People are very friendly up there.

The area of Karachi (Urdu: کراچی, Sindhi: ڪراچي) in Sindh, Pakistan, has a natural harbor and has been used as fishing port by local fisherman belonging to Sindhi tribes since prehistory. The port was known to the ancient Greeks by many names: Krokola, where Alexander the Great camped in Sindh to prepare a fleet for Babylonia after his campaign in the Indus Valley; 'Morontobara' port (probably the modern Manora Island near the Karachi harbor), from where Alexander's admiral Nearchus sailed for back home; and Barbarikon (Βαρβαρικόν), a sea port of the Indo-Greek Bactrian kingdom. Karachi was called Ramya in some Greek texts. The Arabs knew it as the port of Debal, from where Muhammad bin Qasim led his conquering force into Sindh (the western corner of South Asia) in AD 712. Lahari Bandar or Lari Bandar succeeded Debal as a major port of the Indus it was located close to Banbhore, in modern Karachi.
Early history
The Late Paleolithic and Mesolithic sites found by Karachi University team on the Mulri Hills, in front of Karachi University Campus, constitute one of the most important archaeological discoveries made in Sindh during the last fifty years. The last hunter-gatherers, who left abundant traces of their passage, repeatedly inhabited the Hills. Some twenty different spots of flint tools were discovered during the surface surveys.
Karachi was known to the ancient Greeks by many names: Krokola, the place where Alexander the Great camped to prepare a fleet for Babylonia after his campaign in the Indus Valley; Morontobara (probably Manora island near Karachi harbour), from whence Alexander's admiral Nearchus set sail; and Barbarikon, a port of the Bactrian kingdom. It was later known to the Arabs as Debal from where Muhammad bin Qasim led his conquering force into South Asia in AD 712.
Karachi was reputedly founded as Kolachi by Baloch tribes from Balochistan and Makran, who established a small fishing community in the area. Descendants of the original community still live in the area on the small island of Abdullah Goth, which is located near the Karachi Port. The original name Kolachi survives in the name of a well-known Karachi locality named Mai Kolachi in Balochi. Mirza Ghazi Beg, the Mughal administrator of Sindh, is among the first historical figures credited for the development of coastal Sindh (consisting of regions such as the Makran coast and the Indus delta),where including the cities of Thatta, Bhambore and Karachi. The ancient names of Karachi included: Krokola, Barbarikon, Nawa Nar, Rambagh, Kurruck, Karak Bander, Auranga Bandar, Minnagara, Kolachi, Morontobara, Kolachi-jo-Goth, Banbhore, Debal, Barbarice and Kurrachee.
