Crossing the Congo River in Kindu
There is only one bridge over the Congo river near the port of Matadi in Bas Congo. Crossing the river by dugout canoe is the only way to cross many rivers in this vast country. Here we cross back to Kindu after visiting the Commune of Alunguli facing Kindu on the other side. This is the daily commute for many who live in Alunguli and work in Kindu.

It has been the commercial capital of the northern Congo since the late 19th century.

End of 2011, an exploration on the Congo River , using a self-made boat done with two local canoes, tied together , and a plateform built on top to create a cabin. Our boat was pushed by two Yamaha engines. It was very stable on the river.
