Thalassery Pier has always been a popular tourist attraction in Kannur. It is an old pier extending out into the Arabian Sea. It is frequented by people taking evening walks. This Kadalpalam was used as a commercial access through the sea, to and from the Tellicherry Bazar, during the European rule. It is an old story now. At present it is in a deteriorating state. Now it can be preserved as a Tourist Centre. It was in 1910 that the East India Company constructed the pier for transporting commodities to and from ships. The large rocks on the shore and shallow waters often led to shipwrecks and hence the pier was constructed, with huge cranes placed at its end and rail tracks on either side for easy transport of goods from the godowns situated at the shore. A busy commercial center then, Thalassery witnessed brisk development with its export of spices, coffee, fish, wood, and pepper, attracting people from all over.
The upcoming Tovino starrer Thallumaala (transl. Chain of fights) has a vibrant song sequence which was shot mainly along the Pier road. The entire street was painted in preparation for this film. After the shoot, the place became a popular instagram location for the young crowd. Seeing public interest, the town administration decided to preserve the paintings. Thallumala is a an Indian Malayalam language action comedy film directed by Khalid Rahman. Written by Muhsin Parari and Ashraf Hamza, the film is produced by Ashiq Usman. The film stars Tovino Thomas, Kalyani Priyadarshan and Shine Tom Chacko in lead roles.

കണ്ണൂർ ജില്ലാ ആസ്ഥാനത്തുനിന്നും 16 കിലോമീറ്റർ അകലെയാണ് ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത്. മുത്തപ്പന്റെ പ്രധാന വഴിപാടുകൾ പയംകുറ്റി, വെള്ളാട്ടം, തിരുവപ്പന എന്നിവയാണ്. മടയന് ഉള്ള വഴിപാടുകൾ വെച്ചേരിങ്ങാട്ട് (ഏത്തക്ക, കുരുമുളക്, മഞ്ഞൾ, ഉപ്പ് എന്നിവയുടെ പുഴുങ്ങിയ ഒരു മിശ്രിതം), നീർക്കരി (അരിപ്പൊടി, ഉപ്പ്, മഞ്ഞൾപ്പൊടി, കുരുമുളക്, എന്നിവയുടെ മിശ്രിതം), പുഴുങ്ങിയ ധാന്യങ്ങൾ, തേങ്ങാപ്പൂള് എന്നിവയാണ്. കൂടാതെ കരിച്ച ഉണക്കമീനും കള്ളും നൈവേദ്യമായി അർപ്പിക്കാറുണ്ട്.

തളിപ്പറമ്പിൽ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന മഹാശിവക്ഷേത്രമാണ് രാജരാജേശ്വര ക്ഷേത്രം. ശിവനാണ് പ്രധാന പ്രതിഷ്ഠയെങ്കിലും ശങ്കരനാരായണ ഭാവത്തിലും ആരാധിക്കുന്നു. പരമശിവന് നേദിക്കുവാനായി ചെറിയ മൺപാത്രങ്ങളിൽ നെയ്യ് ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ സോപാനനടയിൽ വയ്ക്കുന്നത് ഇവിടുത്തെ പ്രധാന വഴിപാടാണ്. ഇതിനെ നെയ്യമൃത് എന്നുപറയുന്നു. ശിവരാത്രിക്ക് മാത്രമാണ് സ്ത്രീകൾക്ക് ചുറ്റമ്പലത്തിനുള്ളിൽ പ്രവേശിച്ച് രാജരാജേശ്വരനെ തൊഴുന്നതിനുള്ള അനുവാദം മുഴുവൻ സമയവുമുള്ളൂ. അല്ലാത്ത ദിവസങ്ങളിൽ രാത്രി അത്താഴപൂജയ്ക്കുശേഷം എട്ടു മണിക്ക് ശേഷമേ പാടുള്ളൂ.

മുഴക്കുന്ന് ഗ്രാമപഞ്ചായത്തിൽ സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന ഒരു ഭഗവതീക്ഷേത്രമാണ് മുഴക്കുന്ന് മൃദംഗശൈലേശ്വരീ ദുർഗ്ഗാക്ഷേത്രം. ദുർഗ്ഗാദേവിയാണ് ഇവിടുത്തെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠ. എന്നാൽ, സരസ്വതി, ലക്ഷ്മി, കാളി (പോർക്കലി) എന്നീ സങ്കല്പങ്ങളിലും ഈ ദേവി പൂജിയ്ക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. നവരാത്രിയും മീനമാസത്തിലെ പൂരം നാളുമാണ് പ്രധാന ഉത്സവങ്ങൾ

പ്രസിദ്ധമായ ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളാണ് കൊട്ടിയൂർ ശിവക്ഷേത്രങ്ങൾ'. കണ്ണൂർ ജില്ലയിലെ കൊട്ടിയൂർ ഗ്രാമത്തിലാണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നത്. ബാവലിപ്പുഴയുടെ തീരത്തുള്ള ഈ നാടിനെ ദക്ഷിണ കാശി എന്ന പേരിലും വിശേഷിപ്പിക്കാറുണ്ട്. 'ഇക്കരെ കൊട്ടിയൂർ ക്ഷേത്രവും അക്കരെ കൊട്ടിയൂർ ക്ഷേത്രവുമുണ്ട്. അക്കരെ കൊട്ടിയൂർ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ ശിവലിംഗം സ്വയംഭൂ ആണെന്നു വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു. പാൽ, നെയ്യ്, ഇളനീർ (കരിക്ക്) എന്നിവകൊണ്ടാണ് അഭിഷേകം. തടാകത്തിന്റെ മദ്ധ്യത്തിലുള്ള മണിത്തറയിലാണ് ശിവലിംഗമുള്ളത്. ഈ തടാകത്തിലെ തന്നെ മറ്റൊരു തറയായ അമ്മാറക്കല്ലിലാണ് ശ്രീ പാർവ്വതിയെ ആരാധിക്കുന്നത്.[2] തുമ്പയും, തുളസിയും, കൂവളത്തിലയുമാണ് മണിത്തറയിലുപയോഗിക്കുന്നത്. ഭക്തർക്ക് പ്രസാദവും ഭക്ഷണവും നൽകുന്നത് മരവാഴയുടെ ഇലയിലാണ്. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന ചടങ്ങായ നീരെഴുന്നള്ളത്തിനു ജലം കൊണ്ടുപോകുന്നത് കാട്ടുകൂവയുടെ ഇലയിലാണ്.

Rayarome is a beautiful village in Kannur District of Kerala. There are many hidden beautiful places in kannur, Rayarome Alakode is one among them. Rayarome River is one of the highlight of this place. There is a small check dam built across the Rayarome river for the Alakode village's irrigation purpose. This is not yet a tourist destination but it will become one soon. This video is from Rayarome river, You can witness the real beauty of nature here. If you want to visit here, you have to reach Alakode (around 50km from Kannur town via Taliparamba), then from Alakode to Rayarome Church stop called Rayarome Pallippadi. The Pazhassi Dam also called Kulur Barrage is a stone masonry diversion structure in Kannur district, Kerala, India. It is named after king Pazhassi Raja, a local warrior. The dam is constructed across the west flowing Valapattanam River near VELIYAMBRA. It was commissioned by Prime Minister Morarji Desai in 1979. It mainly functions as an irrigation dam, serving a command area of 11,525 hectares (28,480 acres) in Thalassery and Thaliparambra taluks of the Kannur District. The diversion dam or barrage, built with stone masonry to function as a major irrigation project, is 18.99 metres (62.3 ft) in height and has a length of 245 metres (804 ft). At the Full Reservoir Level of 26.52 metres (87.0 ft), with a water spread area of 650 hectares (1,600 acres), the dam has a gross storage capacity of 97,500,000 m3 (79,045 acre⋅ft). The spillway designed to rout a design flood discharge of 3,510 cubic metres (124,000 cu ft) per second is fitted with 16 radial gates over a length of 138 metres (453 ft).[1][2][3]
While the dam was completed in 1978, its irrigation component was completed in 1979. The water stored in the reservoir is diverted for irrigation through a control structure on the left bank of the barrage to the main canal of 46.26 kilometres (28.74 mi) length, designed to carry a discharge of 20 cubic metres (710 cu ft) per second. The gross command area under the canal system is 23,650 hectares (58,400 acres) with a net command area of 11,525 hectares (28,480 acres) (as against the earlier planned figure of 16,110 hectares (39,800 acres)) to mainly raise three crops of paddy every year in the Iritty and Taliparamba taluks of Kannur district; other crops grown in the command are coconut, arecanut, cashew nut, tapioca, pepper, ginger, turmeric and vegetables. The network of canals includes six branch canals of 76.35 kilometres (47.44 mi) total length and 32 distributaries of 136.4 kilometres (84.8 mi) total length. The entire command is covered under the Command Area Development Programme (CADP) of the Ministry of Water Resources, Government of India and is being monitored since 2003.
