Exploring Harper’s Ferry in West Virginia | Maryland Heights Overlook + historic sights!
We have made it to Harpers Ferry, the easternmost town in West Virginia, situated at the confluence of the Potomac and Shenandoah rivers. The town was an important site during the Civil War and we spent the day exploring the beautiful historic buildings and doing a “sunrise” hike to the Maryland Heights Overlook, which overlooks the town across the river. It was such a fun day getting to walk back in time!

HARPERS FERRY West Virginia // What to Do and See
Harpers Ferry West Virginia is an historic town. This tiny, hill-side town borders the states of Virginia and Maryland. You can see all three states, and the town by hiking up the Maryland Heights Trail. We visited historical Harpers Ferry on a crisp fall day in October and spent 24 hours seeing the sites and hiking the Maryland Heights Trail to get an overview of the town.

While you could spend more time in the area, we felt that one day was enough to see the town, take in the history, and squeeze in a hike or two.

This is a travel guide for St. Louis, Missouri. We walk around downtown St. Louis check out whats going on during a Cardinals game, head over to the St Louis Arch which is the gateway to the west. Eat some Vietnamese fried rice, go to the Weird Museum which is possibly one of the coolest urban art museums in the country. Also we walk around the old Union Station that has now been turned into an aquarium and a koi pond with restaurants.

Maryland Heights Trail & Overlook - Harpers Ferry National Historical Park
Maryland Heights Trail loop 6.6-mile loop located near Harpers Ferry is one the best trail to hike around Harpers Ferry. The elevation gain is 1541 feet and it is rated DIFFICULT by all trails but doesn't seem to be so hard, honestly, it should be marked as simple( my experience). I parked my car, somewhere in the woods, and walked back to the Maryland Heights trail. It took me around half an hour to reach the trailhead from my parking location. When i started there were very few hikers like 3 i guess, but i reached Harper's ferry overlook trail, it was a little bit crowded but at the summit of Maryland's height, the crowd was like 3-4 hikers.
The view at the overlook trail was breathtaking.
