This is a suspension bridge that stands over the River Thames. It lies between the town of Marlow in Buckinghamshire and Bisham in Windsor and Maidenhead. The bridge was designed by William Tierney Clark and was built between 1829 and 1832, replacing a wooden bridge further downstream which collapsed in 1828. There has been a bridge on this site since the reign of King Edward III. A bridge that spans the River Danube in Budapest, was also designed by William Clark and it is a larger scale version of Marlow bridge.

Marlow is a town and civil parish within Wycombe district in south Buckinghamshire, England. It is located on the River Thames, 4 miles south-southwest of High Wycombe, 5 miles west-northwest of Maidenhead and 33 miles west of central London.
Malow is twinned with Marly-le-roi, near Paris. It also has a special relationship with Budapest due to the Tierney Clarke bridge across the river which is a miniature version of the famous Chain Bridge there. He built four such bridges but only these two survive. The Marlow Bridge is also the only suspension bridge across the River Thames. The town is home to British Olympian Sir Steve Redgrave and holds an annual regatta on the River. It is a very upmarket area, with house prices being extremely expensive, often upward of £750,000 (~$1.4m) for those close to the river. The nearest villages along the River of suitable walking distance are Bourne End towards Maidenhead, and Hurley towards Oxford. Those looking for a more adventurous walk can walk to Cookham (2miles) and Maidenhead(4miles). Henley-on-Thames is a more challenging walk of about 8.5 miles(11km).
There has been a bridge over the Thames at Marlow since the reign of King Edward III[citation needed] The current bridge is a suspension bridge, designed by William Tierney Clark in 1832, and was a prototype for the much larger Széchenyi Chain Bridge across the River Danube in Budapest.[6]

Maidenhead is a large town in the county of Berkshire, England. Maidenhead lies south-west of the River Thames, but at Maidenhead, the river runs north-south and so the town is on its west bank.
The Maidenhead urban area includes urban and suburban regions within the bounds of the town, called Maidenhead Court, North Town, Furze Platt (which in 2012 gained a conservation area), Pinkneys Green, Highway, Tittle Row, Boyn Hill, Fishery and Bray Wick; as well as built-up areas in surrounding civil parishes: Cox Green and Altwood in Cox Green parish, Woodlands Park in White Waltham parish, and part of Bray Wick in Bray parish. Bray village is linked to Maidenhead by the exclusive Fishery Estate which lies on the banks of the Thames. To the east, on the opposite side of the river from Maidenhead, is the large village of Taplow in Buckinghamshire which almost adjoins the suburban village of Burnham, Buckinghamshire, which is in itself part of the urban area of the large, industrial town of Slough.
Maidenhead clock tower was built for Queen Victoria's diamond jubilee and is located outside the railway station. Maidenhead Bridge was built in 1777. It takes the A4 over the Thames to join Maidenhead to Taplow. All Saints' Church, Boyne Hill was completed in 1857 is one of the finest examples of the early work of the architect G. E. Street. The site is also regarded by many as the premier architectural site in the town. The church, consecrated on 2 December 1857 by Bishop Samuel Wilberforce, became the first ecclesiastical parish in the Borough of Maidenhead. Boulter's Lock is a lock on the river Thames on the east side of Maidenhead. It adjoins Ray Mill Island.
The (Brunel-built) Great Western Main Line passes through the town, calling at Maidenhead railway station and offering frequent, direct services to London, Reading, Newbury and Oxford. Additionally, there are less frequent direct services to Banbury, Hereford, Worcester and Great Malvern. It passes over Brunel's Maidenhead Railway Bridge (known locally as the Sounding Arch), famous for its flat brick arches.
The A4 runs through the town and crosses the Thames over Maidenhead Bridge. The town lies adjacent to junction 8/9 on the M4 motorway and is accessed via the A404(M) and A308(M). The A308(M), A404(M) and A404 form the Marlow and Maidenhead bypass which also acts as an important link between the M4, to the south of the town, and M40 at High Wycombe.

We're about to enter the beautiful beautiful town of Marlow and right now we're going through a village that's called Bisham it's a, It's one of these really really picturesque Villages which has got a lot of cottages And we are in Marlow now We've parked behind Sainsbury's which is a really nice car park right there and because it's Sunday now it's only a pound to pay However, obviously if you are taking public transport, it's entirely different matter This old courtyard used to be brewery Marlow.
Now it's not a brewery anymore, but it looks absolutely stunning. Not many people are wondering here. Follow me; I can't help but notice how wide and thick this tree is. There are quite a few stories about this bridge. First of all, this is not the original. The original one has been built here in 13 something or rather. So there's been a sequence of wooden bridges That were this place and then this bridge has been built Couple of words about swans as you can see these ones with feathers plumed out are quite aggressive and then these The grey ones are the cygnets the young swans. Сейчас это уже не завод. Здесь очень красиво. Не так много людей заходят в этот двор. Следуйте за мной! Удивительно насколько широк ствол этого дерева! Есть много историй про это мост. Это не первый мост, который был тут. Первый был построен в тысячу триста каком-то году. Тут была серия деревянных мостов. Которые были построены до этого моста.
Пару слов про лебедей, Лебеди с распушенными перьями агрессивны, а вон те серые это молодые лебеди Они здесь очень сыты, они в хорошем настроении. Спасибо за то что разделили со мной эту прогулку в Марлоу. До следующего раза! Досвидание!

Marlow Walk: Town Centre【4K】
Located in the county of Buckinghamshire, and around 30 miles west of central London, is the town of Marlow.
The name 'Marlow' is derived from Old English: 'Mere lafan', meaning 'land left after the draining of a pond'. It is recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086 as 'Merlaue'. William the Conqueror had gifted the manor of Marlow to his wife, Queen Matilda.
During the medieval era, a bridge was built over the River Thames, connecting the tiny settlement of Marlow with the village of Bisham to the south and, by extension, large settlements including London via trade routes. It is believed that the Knights Templar owned a bridge here in the early 14th century. In 1642 the bridge was partially destroyed by Parliamentarians during the English Civil War.
In 1789 a new bridge opened, made of timber. Its history was limited, however, since it fell into a state of decay by the 1820s. The subsequent bridge is the one we see today, at the start of the walk. This was built between 1829 and 1832. Its designer was William Tierney Clark, whose later works included the Széchenyi Chain Bridge in Budapest, which closely resembles Marlow Suspension Bridge, albeit a much larger version.
Standing adjacent to the bridge on the north bank of the Thames is All Saints Church. This was completed in 1835, three years after the suspension bridge opened. It replaced a previous church that stood on the same site since the 12th century or earlier.
In 1855 the first Marlow Town Regatta took place. This international rowing event has taken place annually ever since, over a period of two days. In 2001 the actual location moved to Dorney Lake near Eton, about eight miles southwest of Marlow itself.
In 1873 the railway arrived in Marlow. The station lies at the terminus of a single-line branch track to Maidenhead, linking it to the Great Western Main Line. The train journey includes the interesting quirk whereby the train will stop at the scenic riverside village of Bourne End for a few minutes while the driver switches to the other side of the train before backing up into Marlow, and vice versa in the other direction.
In 2005 the Hand & Flowers opened by chef Tom Kerridge. In 2012 this became the first gastropub to achieve the coveted accolade of two Michelin Stars. This features at the very end of the walk.
In 1962 Steve Redgrave was born in Marlow. From 1984 to 2000, Redgrave won a gold medal at every Olympic Games, making him the most successful male rower in Olympic history. Another notable former resident is Mary Shelley, who finished her novel Frankenstein whilst living in Marlow.

Walking The Thames Path - Part 11 - Marlow to Windsor
Part 11 of my 2022 challenge to walk the entire Thames Path. I am starting from Reading and walking to the source first. After that, I will start from Reading again, and walk in the opposite direction towards the Thames Barrier in London.
As the Summer fades, so does the daylight. It was important for us to cover a lot of ground and make the most of the free time, and longer days. This was a tiring stretch. We thought Maidenhead would be suitable halfway point but we were quite far away from the town. None the less this was an efficient stretch and we did ourselves proud. This was filmed just weeks before the Queen passed, so this video is dedicated to her majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
