Agriturismo Parco Vecchio - Marineo, Palermo - Sicily, Italy | Drone aerial view
I visited Agriturismo Parco Vecchio with my mum, her partner and my wife on the 31st of May 2019; just the day before my sister's in law wedding.
We had an excellent meal with premium fresh ingredients and I had a chance to meet Ciro, the friendly owner of the place.
I then took a quick flight with my drone and decided to put together this video to keep the memento of the day.
I strongly recommend this place as it is in a pacific area of outstanding beauty in the hearth of Sicily, surrounded by mountains.
In addition of being an unbeatable restaurant Agriturismo Parco Vecchio has also accommodations and a SPA for a proper relaxing stay.

Cerami was the site of an important battle between the arabs and Normans in the 11 th century. Its a beautiful town in the Province of Enna. Mellili, also on top of a hill in the province of Siracusa. In Palermo, Cefala Diana has a great castle, and an Arab bath that is till intact. Bagheria has great palaces including Villa Palgonia. Piana degli Albanesi has a large Sicilian Albanian Greek Orthodox population. In Aspra, the anchovy museum is a must visit. Gambini Vine is a great Mount Etna vineyard in Lingoaglossa. Randazzo is also great town to visit. Put these towns on your list when visiting Sicily.

The most incredible places in Palermo, Sicilia, Italy, a city that is much more than iconic places in Italy like Rome, Venice, Florence, Pisa, Sienna and Milan.
If you enter the highway to Catania, who knows how many times you have seen the church of San Ciro and someone probably does not even know the name!A church in nothing, as we can see, leans at the rocky ridge of Mount Grifone, and practically in a perennial state of neglect. For many years, the church of San Ciro remained at the edge of the ruin, with all those cracks that showed as if it were there to fall and now, after the restoration of 1982, remained as healings.
It will probably be difficult for the city administration to invest other resources for interventions to recover this church if not to keep it safe, and it is understandable despite the requests of the bodies and associations that deal with it.San Ciro is not a monument of value or value, but only a church of passage, relatively far from homes, without appurtenances or services of any use for the possible faithful visitors. It does not have a particularly original or sought-after architecture to attract the gaze of tourists. Nothing remarkable within it or any particular work of art or hidden secret: nothing of nothing.The exterior is in the late Sicilian Baroque style, it had to be plastered. The facade is divided into two orders separated by decorated frames; a short staircase connects the road to the square door closed by a large arch above. In the second order a large window in a semicircle is surmounted by a pediment that closes the top.The decorations are slob, in style: some festoons of acanthus leaves on the parades around the main door and the flamed pots on its top.The interior is reduced to a ruin. The Greek cross plan forms three apses with clover that extend into the single central nave. Even internally the decorations are rather scarce and today now crumbling.
However, this church has a history, and its importance: so much so that someone considers it as a “symbol church”.History of the church of San Ciro:In the place where the church stands, already from the end of the 1500s there had to be a small chapel dedicated to Our Lady of the Assumption: in this place, in mid-August, some nobles of the time celebrated the feast of the sweet Sea, perhaps the legacy of a pagan festival in honor of the goddess Ceres. From that place also passed the path through which the Marineo’s cart drivers entered the territory of Palermo, and probably stopped to quench their thirst at the Favara, the source of water that for several centuries fed the lake that came to the Arab castle of Maredolce. And let’s imagine the cart drivers passing by making the sign of the cross as a thank you for having arrived at your destination.
The source became extinct but not the devotion to this place, so in 1656 the chapel was enlarged becoming a small church: the promoter was a Palermo theatine father, Girolamo Matranga, who called it Santa Maria della Grazia.In this place, a Congregation devoted to St. Cyrus was founded that, thanks to the financial help of the inhabitants of Marineo, from 1736 to 1738 built the present structure incorporating the first church that today should be the sacristy of the church. From that moment the church was called St. Ciro a Maredolce.Unfortunately, due to the nature of the land, not even a hundred years after its construction, the church began to show signs of failure and was soon abandoned. In 1874, Don Leopoldo Villa Riso, parish priest of Brancaccio, wanted to reopen it to worship after a renovation and remained in business for several years but always on the margins of city life.But its fate was marked: the opening of the quarry behind it made it unculate, for which in 1960 it was closed permanently; then the cut for the construction of the highway to Catania isolated it from the urban context making it almost a forgotten ruin. Today she is there, alone and abandoned among the weeds, despite the various attempts to make it still usable for tourism if not for worship.However, there is a nostalgic testimony that is linked to this place. It concerns the inhabitants of the area of Brancaccio when during the bombings of the great war they flocked to the church and in the adjacent caves of San Ciro to seek refuge. It is recounted how grandparents and women took the little ones and brought them inside the church, covered with mattresses and straws to welcome the frightened people: St. Ciro would protect them, were thought, or the most naive were deluded that the place would be spared by bombs out of respect for its sacredness.

Sicilian olive trees and mountains - Sciara, Palermo - Sicily, Italy | Drone aerial view
On the 23rd of October 2019 my wife asked me to go with her to the country side in Sicily to help some friends with the harvest of the olives.
It was a working day and I was hesitant at first as I needed to work remotely but I decided to go and live this experience.
We woke up at about 5am and arrived near Caccamo by 7am.
I had a chance to do some flights with my drone and help our friends setting up for the harvest of the olives before getting ready to work.
I settled below an olive tree, sitting on a rock and did all my work from there; had some troubles with the internet connection but enjoyed the view and fresh air.
We had lunch on the field and shortly after lunch we left as I needed to go back home for a busy working afternoon.
We managed to finish only one big olive tree so after all I'm not sure how much help we provided to our friends but we did love the experience and would be happy to repeat it again.
