S1 – Ep 365 – Port Shepstone – The Magnificent uMzimkulu River Bridge!
We embarked on a short journey from Margate to Port Shepstone, setting out in the late afternoon and encountering delays due to heavy traffic compounded by loadshedding which caused chaos at the traffic lights and this delayed our arrival time even further. Despite the dwindling daylight, we managed to explore Port Shepstone somewhat and were rewarded with glimpses of its captivating sights. Notably, we marvelled at the striking uMzimkulu River Bridge, a dual-functioning marvel that serves both road and rail traffic. Our exploration led us to the old station, complete with a meticulously maintained locomotive but alas, we were not allowed to record anymore of it. It was great to see though. Our next stop revealed the enchanting beauty of the Port Shepstone lighthouse, and then a spellbinding panorama that showcased the magnificent uMzimkulu River Bridge against the backdrop of the setting sun. #DustBugs #adventuretravel #southafrica #southafricavlog #travelongravel #portshepstone #kwazulunatal #margate

Colonial Sands 305 - Margate, Self Catering Holiday Accommodation South Coast.
Colonial Sands 305, in Margate, is a large well equipped flat on the beach that has magnificent views. Colonial Sands is within walking distance of Margate's CBD with its restaurants, shops, cafes, and clubs. Margate main beach has shark nets as well as lifeguards which makes it safe for swimming. Apart from Margate, Shelly Beach with its two shopping malls and ski boat club give you a wide choice of shops, restaurants, and activities. Furthermore you can go scuba diving, deep-sea fishing or whale watching, or fun boat riding if you choose.
Within 50km of Margate is Orbi Gorge which offers the longest zip-line in Africa, white water rafting, mountain biking, hiking, and a nature reserve. The Wild Coast is also less than 50km away. The weather on the South Coast is superb, even in winter. The sea temperature, which is influenced by the warm Mozambique current, seldom drops below 19 degrees. This complex boasts a sparkling swimming pool, communal braai area and as well as maintained gardens. Colonial Sands 305 in Margate is a three-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment on the third floor. There are lovely sea views as well as easy beach access. Furthermore, there is a lift in the complex as well as under-cover parking. Well-equipped kitchen with granite tops. There is also a dish washer. The open plan lounge dining room has a ceiling fan and opens up onto a balcony where there is a gas braai.
In the main bedroom, there is a queen-size bed and an en-suite bathroom with a shower and also a bath. The second bedroom has two single beds. The third bedroom has a combination bunk bed with double bed on the bottom and single onto. In the second bathroom, there's a shower. Remember to bring along your own DSTV decoder (no Explora’s) as well as your towels. No smoking is permitted in the unit.
