NAPLES, ITALY - Welcome Naples, one of the Italian cultural and food capitals of the country. It’s very cool city with so much to explore and so today we’re going on a food tour to eat just a taste of some of the best Italian food and learn a little about this exciting Italian city!
Huge thank you to Chiara and my friends from Culinary Backstreets ( for arranging this amazing day for me. Highly recommended in Naples or other cities where they offer tours.
Here’s everything we ate on this Naples food tour:
Pasticceria Capriccio - This old bakery in Naples is most famous for their Baba, a rum soaked cake, originating in Poland and France, but loved and adapted into Naples.
Next up Chiara took us on an exploration of one of the oldest markets in Naples, a place where you can really see the culture and life of Naples. It loved the colorful mix of fresh vegetables, clothes, Maradona shops, and artisans. The main thing I tried in the market was Limonata a cosce aperte - “open legs lemonade” - lemon juice, sulfur water, and bicarbonate!
È Pronto ‘O Mangià - Now we’re moving on to some of the best Italian food I’ve had - a variety of spaghetti pasta dishes, a truly Naples food institution. We tried spaghetti alle vongole - Neapolitan style spaghetti with clams, spaghetti alla Pignatiello - spaghetti with mixed seafood, and frittura di paranza - mixed fried seafood, all of which were outstanding. Without a doubt the seafood spaghetti was the best spaghetti of my life and cooked perfectly.
Lombardi 1892 - You can’t go to Naples without eating pizza, and the original Neapolitan pizza. Pizza was invented in and around Naples, and they have the world’s original pizzeria. While we didn’t go to the original pizzeria, we went to a place that serves traditional Naples pizza and some of the best. This time, just had to go with the classic - Pizza Margherita - tomatoes, basil, buffalo mozzarella, and it was everything I hoped for!
Sorbillo Pizza Fritta - Finally to wrap up this Italian street food tour in Naples I couldn't leave without trying deep fried pizza. I met up with some friends and deep fried pizza at Sorbillo Pizza Fritta. It’s definitely something that’s a little messy, but extremely tasty - loaded with melty oozing cheese and tomato sauce!
If you love food, Naples is a city you have to visit. There’s always something unique and exciting everywhere you look - What a city!

Naples Italy certainly has an underground vibe to the place. You need to be on your toes when you are roaming the streets - and definitely not expect the grand plazas and sweeping rustic beauty that movies have made us accustomed to.
Put a drone up, and check this place out from the sky and the chaos starts to dissipate. There is a peace when looking down on this city from the sky.
You will see us develop as aerial photographers as the episodes are released, learning more of what is possible and what we are capable of. We are using the DJI Mavic Mini (the first), so we are left with little assistance from the software, but it has certainly made us into better UAV operators.

Napoli vista dall'Eremo dei Camaldoli
La Collina dei Camaldoli, con i suoi 457 metri sul livello del mare, è il rilievo più alto della città di Napoli. Si estende tra il comune di Napoli e i comuni di Marano di Napoli e Quarto. La sua origine viene fatta risalire a circa 35.000 anni fa, in seguito a violente eruzioni che colpirono tutta l'area vulcanica dei Campi Flegrei. Dalla sommità sul lato che dà sul quartiere di Soccavo si gode una splendida ed ampia vista su gran parte della Campania, che abbraccia i golfi di Napoli e Pozzuoli, il Vesuvio, la penisola sorrentina, la collina di Posillipo che si prolunga in mare con l'isola di Nisida, fino al Circeo, il massiccio di Roccamonfina, l'arcipelago delle isole ponziane, l'altopiano del Matese e alle spalle della collina dei Camaldoli, troviamo la cittadina di Marano di Napoli. Sul punto più alto della collina è stato fondato nel 1585 l'edificio dell'Eremo dei Camaldoli che attualmente ospita le suore brigidine.

The village of Rende takes its name from the old French word “Renne” that means kingdom.
Today, only about 800 people live here and it still preserves the Norman-Swabian castle, palaces and churches of historical heritage value and contemporary art museums.
In recent decades, Rende has expanded along the Crati valley thanks to the urban development of Cosenza, boosted by the institution of the University of Calabria.
Places you must visit: civic museum, 19th-20th century art museum, contemporary art museum, ceramic museum, Norman-Swabian castle.
Rende has several churches.
Three of them were declared of historical and artistic interest:
- Santa Maria Maggiore;
- Santa Maria di Costantinopoli;
- SS Rosario.
Visit Rende and try its tradizional food…you will never forget it.

Il borgo di rende prende il suo nome dal termine francese antico “Renne” che significa regno.

Posti che devi assolutamente visitare: il museo civico, il museo dell’arte dell’ 800 del 900, il museo d’arte contemporanea, il museo di ceramica, il castello Svevo-Normanno.

Tre di loro son ostate dichiarate di valore storico artistico:
- Santa Maria Maggiore;
- Santa Maria di Costantinopoli;
- SS Rosario.
