MARIUPOL, UKRAINE CITY CENTRE - Before the War #shorts #trending #viral

MARIUPOL, UKRAINE CITY CENTRE - Before the War #shorts #trending #viral features spectacular aerial, walking, and drone video footage set to original music. Mariupol (Ukrainian: Маріу́поль) is a city in south eastern Ukraine, situated on the north coast of the Sea of Azov at the mouth of the Kalmius river, in the Pryazovia region. It is the tenth-largest city in Ukraine, and the second largest in Donetsk Oblast with a population of 431,859 (2021 est.).

Mariupol was founded on the site of a former Cossack encampment named Kalmius and granted city rights in 1778. It has been a centre for the grain trade, metallurgy, and heavy engineering, including the Illich Steel & Iron Works and Azovstal. Mariupol has played a key role in the industrialization of Ukraine. Today, Mariupol remains a centre for industry, as well as higher education and business.

From 1948 to 1989, the city was named Zhdanov, after the Soviet functionary Andrei Zhdanov, as part of the practice of renaming cities after Communist leaders.

Following the War in Donbas when the city of Donetsk became the capital of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic in 2014, Mariupol was made the provisional administrative centre of the Donetsk Oblast. The city was secured on June 13, 2014 by Ukrainian troops, but has been under attack several times since.

The city is currently under siege and has been severely damaged during the ongoing 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. Allegations of humanitarian abuse carried out by Russian forces in Mariupol as well as allegations of war crimes have been made. The city was given the title Hero City of Ukraine on 13 March 2022.

🇺🇦 Marioupol Ukraine

🇺🇦 Mariupol Ukraine
Mariupol (meaning City of Marie) is a port and industrial city in Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine on the Black Sea. It is the former capital of the historical region of Méotide. Its population was 0.4 million.
The city of Mariupol has several parks and squares, the most frequented being the City Square (Theater Square), the Amusement Park, the Gurov Park (former Mariupol Bicentenary Park), the Petrovski Park, the Garden of the City (with its monuments to the heroes of the Second World War, here called the Great Patriotic War) inaugurated in 1863, the Vessiolka park, the Azovstal park, the Sea park (formerly of the Fiftieth Anniversary of the October Revolution).
Mariupol was known at the beginning of the 16th century as the Cossack fortress Kalmious, but the city really came into existence after the migration of Greeks from Crimea in 1778-1780. Under Catherine II of Russia, Mariupol experienced the immigration of Turkish-speaking Greeks from Crimea, who had initially settled in Chersonese, Kerch and Theodosia since the sixth century BC. AD and who were driven out by the Ottomans.

The City of Mariupol Before War | Mariupol - History And Development

From the 12th through the 16th century, the area around Mariupol was largely devastated and depopulated by conflicts between military powers.
This land was regularly plundered by the Tatar tribes, preventing permanent settlement and keeping it sparsely populated, or even entirely uninhabited. Hence it was known as the Wild Fields.
Sometime after 1738, the Cossacks established a military outpost on the high promontory on the right bank of the Kalmius river.

Summer, August 2021 - Mariupol city of Ukraine

This is 'The Family Out There' in Mariupol in 2021. This city surprised us with its beauty, diversity, and more. It is a nice city for tourism and commercial activities. The accommodation, foods, and transport are definitely not expensive. We were told that the frontline (the war) was just 25km away at that time and that the city was still safe.

🇺🇦🇷🇺 🤕 civilians are hiding in the basements from shelling

The Azovstal plant, where the defenders of Mariupol are located, where civilians are hiding in the basements from shelling, continues to be covered by enemy fire.

Last night alone, 35 air strikes were carried out, during which one of the shops caught fire. But most importantly, they affected civilians who are now trapped. Soldiers of the Azov Regiment provide first aid and make every effort to free civilians from the rubble.

Russia has launched a full-scale military attack on Ukraine that opened with air and missile attacks on Ukrainian military facilities before troops and tanks rolled across the borders from the north, east and south.

🇺🇦 UKRAINE
