Mambusao, officially the Municipality of Mambusao (Capiznon/Hiligaynon: Banwa sang Mambusao; Tagalog: Bayan ng Mambusao), is a 3rd class municipality in the province of Capiz, Philippines. According to the 2015 census, it has a population of 39,644 people. [3]

It is 36 kilometres (22 mi) from Roxas City.

Its economy is based on agriculture with rice and coconut as the primary products and crops. The annual festival of Mambusao is called Inilusan honoring of St. Catherine of Alexandria, the patron saint of the town, celebrated every November 25. Inilusan literally means sharing of dish by neighbors.

Mambusao is the home of the Villareal family, the most famous of whom is Speaker Cornelio Agurang Coni Villareal and Governor Cornelio Dodoy Villareal. It is also the birthplace of the late Filipino diplomat and politician Roy Señeres.

Capiz, officially the Province of Capiz (Capiznon/Hiligaynon: Kapuoran sang Capiz; Tagalog: Lalawigan ng Capiz), is a province in the Philippines located in the central section of Western Visayas region. Its capital is the city of Roxas. It is located at the northeastern portion of Panay Island, bordering Aklan to the north, Antique to the west, and Iloilo to the south. Capiz faces the Sibuyan Sea to the north.

Capiz is known for the Placuna placenta oyster shell that has the same name locally and is used for decoration and making lampshades, trays, window and doors. Likewise, the province is known as the Seafood Capital of the Philippines[4] and was among the top 15 most frequently visited places in the Philippines.[5] Capiz is the site of the famous coral-stone Santa Monica Church in the town of Pan-ay, home to the largest Catholic Church bell in Asia. The bell was made from 70 sacks of gold and silver coins donated by the townsfolk. Measuring seven feet in diameter, five feet in height and weighing 10,400 kilograms or just over 10 metric tons, the Pan-ay bell is popular among tourists visiting Capiz.

BEST PLACE TO VISIT IN PHILIPPINES,ROXAS CITY CAPIZ

Capiz is home to the eponymous Capiz shells (Placuna placenta) locally known as pi-os.  That is why it is not surprising to see an abundance of locally-crafted Capiz shell products for sale here. This largely uncharted province in Western Visayas is oozing with immaculate beaches, majestic caves and mouth-watering seafood!

Interestingly, Capiz was the second Spanish settlement established by the Spaniards after San Miguel, Cebu. Upon arrival at Pan-ay, Captain Diego de Artienda who was sent by Miguel Lopez de Legazpi declared the town the capital of the province which was later transferred to Capiz town (present-day Roxas City) because of its strategic (coastal) location for trade and naval defense.

Today, Capiz is a thriving city sprinkled with some remnants of its glorious heyday and makes for a perfect escape from the crowd-magnet Boracay.

If you’re wondering what to do in Roxas City and Capiz, here’s a list of top tourist spots in Capiz.
