BASILAN PHILIPPINES - How safe and how beautiful this island?

Basilan is an island province of the
Philippines in Mindanao, just off the southern coast of the Zamboanga Peninsula. Basilan is the biggest and northernmost among the major islands of the Sulu Archipelago.

Access to the island province is usually through Zamboanga which lies 31 km (17 nautical miles) (narrowest point of the Basilan Strait) due north. From there, a boat ride of 1 hour and 45 mins (for conventional passenger ferries), will take you to Isabela and Lamitan. The fare ranges from ₱20(student and senior citizen's discounted fare on some conventional ferries) to ₱70 (first-class w/ aircon).

Another fastest way to the location is by taking the Fast Craft which will only take about 45 minutes boat ride.

Unknown to many, the island province of Basilan has some fine beaches. One of them is the Malamawi Beach which is about 30 minutes away from the capital Isabela City. The very clean beach has fine white sands and turquoise water excellent for swimming. The place is also well secured. It takes about an hour by ferry from Zamboanga City and a return trip within same day is vary feasible.

When you heard of MINDANAO you will be afraid because of the negative feedback coming from people who don't stay and have their lives share with the diverse culture of MINDANAONS first thing that comes to anyone's mind when you speak of BASILAN is Abu Sayaff Group (ASG) well the notions are wrong the place is safe. if your the adventurous type the place will likely to be yours its a HIDDEN PARADISE hopefully it will stay that way.

#OnceAgainZamPen Safe Travel to Isabela de Basilan

#SafeTripPH #ColorsOfMindanao #IronwulfEnRoute #PTIP2021

I always savor the journey going from one place to another. That itself is a story. Especially now amidst the pandemic, how is it like to travel to certain places. Here's a recent travel to Isabela de Basilan via Zamboanga City from Manila.

This is part 1 video from our #OnceAgainZamPen Philippine Tourism Influencers Program spearheaded by Tourism Promotions Board and Department of Tourism Region 9. Exploring the tourism offerings of Basiland and Zamboanga City. Promoting the Habi (weaving), Hilom (wellness) and Halal (food) of the region.

Part 1 is our travel to Isabela de Basilan in the province of Basilan. Our flight from Manila, an overnight stay at Grand Astoria Hotel in Zamboanga City and the ferry ride to the province.

Malamawi Island White Beach Isabela Basilan Philippines Travel Video

White Beach Malamawi Basilan Philippines Travel Video VLOG

Malamawi is a perfect white sand beach in Isabela Basilan, a feared place to visit in the Philippines. White Beach Malamawi is beautiful. It has powdery white sand similar to Boracay and has a crystal clear perfect water perfect for swimming. Too bad they named this awesome beach, White Beach too boring and generic haha but it is one of the best beaches I have been to in Mindanao.

For security reasons, I was hesitant to visit this place at first. Basilan is known for terrorist thriving in its forests. Thankfully, I begin to notice that more and more people are visiting this place. It must be safe to visit here now. So I, together with my colleagues, Team Amistad decided to spend a summer get-together in Malamawi.

I hope you enjoy watching this video vlog. If you like this and my other videos, please like or subscribe :D

BASILAN MINDANAO PARADISE | PHILIPPINES Travel Vlog

Episode 2 of Discovering Basilan with Becoming Filipino. In this Philippines travel vlog we explore more of the island of Basilan in Mindanao Philippines.

During day 1 part two I horribly lose a dunk competition to a bunch of locals in Maluso, we find paradise on Langgas Island, and I sit down and talk about what the first day was actually like.

This small island has had a lot of trouble in the past. Muslim extremist groups have damaged its people and its reputation. As a foreigner in the Philippines, everyone told me to stay away from the south. Mindanao was dangerous and no one should go, is what I was told by both filipinos and foreign travelers. After the Mindanao roadtrip with the Fighterboys, I would have to disagree. Love and generosity is what we experienced, an appreciation from the people that I have rarely felt while travelling the world. We met the governor of ARMM, our local contact (always have a local contact) and spent 4 days here. While I wouldn't recommend travelling here on your first day in the Philippines,

This is Day 1 Part 2 of exploring Basilan Mindano Philippines.

MALAMAWI ISLAND, Basilan (Tourist Spots and Travel Guide)

#Vlogging my comprehensive travel guide and things you need to know about #Malamawi Island, #Basilan; list of tourist spots, how to get here, where to stay and budget.

Traveling to Isabela City, is less than two hours from the port of Zamboanga City. Is it safe in Basilan? It's a YES! There are two cities in the province, Lamitan (the capital) and Isabela (part of Region 9), that serve as the center of commerce. Like the other cities, huge business establishments, transportation and people are present in every corner.

TOURIST DESTINATIONS IN ISABELA CITY:
The provincial capitol
Isabela City Plaza
Isabela Cathedral
I Love Isabela Signboard
Malamawi Island

THE MALAMAWI ISLAND - where the whitest and the finest sand can e found. Malamawi White Beach Resort is owned by one of the political individual in the province. The area is relaxing because it is surrounded by coconuts and trees which protects the cottages against the sun. It also has a long stretch of super fine white sand and the water is cool and crystal clear, can be compared to what Boracay has.

NEW POLICY - NO RESERVATION, NO ENTRY: On December 1, 2018, Malamawi White Beach Resort implemented this policy. Without a reservation, visitor can no longer enter the resort. They don't accept walk-ins. For reservation, you can contact 09450628568 and 09974400765.

HOW TO GET HERE: From Manila, take a flight to Zamboanga City. At the port area in Zamboanga City, Aleson Shipping Lines, Weesam Express and Sea Jet have their respective trips to Isabela City. Going to Isabela, I chose Aleson MV Trisha Kerstin 1. FARE: 70 pesos. Travel Time: 1.5 hours. At the port of Isabela, I chartered a boat (entire trip) to the port of Malamawi. FARE: 100. Travel Time: 10 minutes. At the port of Malamawi, rode on a motorcycle to the white beach resort. FARE: 50 pesos (one way). Travel Time: 15 to 20 minutes.

GOING BACK TO ZAMBOANGA CITY: I chose Sea Jet. FARE: 150 pesos. Travel Time: 45 minutes to an hour. Terminal tickets are purchased separately.

NOTE: The port entrance situated on the street beside BPI, left side of Zamboanga City Hall. The location of the ticketing office, if you're facing the gate, turn right and walk 50 meters. The ticketing office is inside a compound. Kung saan yung maraming tao at maingay, yun na yun!!! ahahaha.

WHERE TO STAY: If you are staying overnight, cheap hotels can be found in the city. A friend of mine recommended Sophia Hotel in Isabela. If you want to visit Lamitan, you can contact Ms. Cora on 09175577874. She knows a lot in terms of tourist destinations, where to stay and she also arranges habal-habal tour to Bulingan Falls.

TRAVEL TIPS AND REMINDERS: Solo-backpacking is safe! Don't be shocked with the presence of the PNP and the ARMY with there long fire arms. I talked to different locals and they are friendly. They will answer your question and they will also give suggestions (if your asking about location and transportation, ETC). Just don't forget to bring your smile!

Discovering Basilan 2023 | Not what I expected! | DIY Guide to Malamawi White Beach

[WATCH IN HD!] Welcome to another DENstination - Denver’s Travel Diaries! Join me as we explore beautiful places in the Philippines! The Province of Basilan is officially my 45th Province in the Project 82.

Isabela de Basilan is just a 1 hour 30 minutes ferry ride from Zamboanga City. Roro fare as of this writing is 120 pesos for adults and 90 pesos for students. You may also board a fast craft which is a faster, more pricey alternative. From Isabela port, ride a small boat to Malamawi Island. It is just across Isabela Port and the fare is just 10 pesos for about 5 minute ride.

We went to Malamawi White Beach or simply White Beach or Pahali Beach Resort. I was very happy since we got the entire resort for ourselves since there were no other guests. The resort has a long stretch of white, powdery sand and the water is so clear. The resort also features its instagrammable boardwalk. Sadly, the helipad and the cottage at the end of the boardwalk got damaged from the previous typhoons. The beach is (for me) comparable to the popular beach destinations in the country.

Overall, it was a really nice experience. The locals were very welcoming and kind.

MALAMAWI ISLAND BASILAN - Boracay or Maldives of the South

A mere mention of Basilan will send chills to most people. Admittedly, the province’s reputation to tourism is in the negative side. Years of armed conflicts and extremism casted a dark image on its reputation and potential as another tourism destination in Mindanao. But not everything in Basilan is in the dark side. There are nooks and crannies in this island province, particularly in the capital Isabela City and nearby areas, that are generally safe and worth braving. This includes Malamawi Island! Approximately one kilometer away from Basilan capital city of Isabela, Malamawi is a small inhabited island made famous by the long stretch of white sandy beach on its northern coast. With its exotic appeal, idyllic natural beauty and serenity, the place has become a go-to place of locals specially of those from Isabela City and suburbs who wish to escape for sea, sun and sand experience. With its increasing popularity even to outsiders, the local government has secured, developed and transformed a part of the beach into a resort with facilities and activities for tourists. Without a doubt, Malamawi Island is the happy side of Basilan. It is a place that will make you forget the dark side of the province, a worthy adventure, a great find! Brave the less traveled road in this side of Mindanao and experience the smile of Basilan in Malamawi Island.

HOW TO GET TO MALAMAWI BASILAN

We met kuya Noel a solo backpacker and photographer, he noticed our group and joined in our trip. (Thank you for paying the cottage and entrance fees)
The white beach of Malamawi Island is located in Isabela City, Basilan Mindanao, almost the southern part of the Philippines, before Sulu and Tawi tawi.
Basilan is known to be a dangerous place. Be sure to contact first a local tour guide before going there. You also need a reservation prior to visiting Malamawi Island.
It was nice seeing a beautiful resort with no foreigners here in the Philippines, because a lot of the places now are so much crowded.
Include this on your places to visit in the Philippines, it sure is a great place.
