मस्तानी तलाव | Mastani Lake, Pune
Built around 1720 AD, Mastani Lake or Talav has a fascinating history attached to it. The lake was actually called the Wadki Talav. The name was later changed after the two love birds, Bajirao and Mastani kept visiting the spot and it was often considered to be Mastani Bai’s bathing spot. It is believed that the lake on the outskirts of Pune was frequently visited by Bajirao Peshwa and his second wife, Mastani when they went horseback riding. They would stop and take a swim in the lake often.
Bajirao started constructing the walls around the lake before his demise and soon after his passing, Mastani also breathed her last. None of them saw the lake walls finished. And even after 300 years after it was built, the lake (and it’s walls) have stood the test of time.
Today it’s a spot romanticized and considered a romantic spot where young lovers still flock to for some alone time. The lake is spread over 14 acres, and the picturesque water body sits in between green hills. Lake Mastani is also a popular spot for picnickers and camping enthusiasts. The lake has two temples located around it and the lush green farmland invites rabbits, deers and peacocks often.

Dodhani/Dudhani waterfall is located at the base of Matheran hills. By road it is accessible via the Panvel-Matheran road. Standing tall at 115ft, this waterfall is an ideal place for all waterfall and nature lovers. Once at the base village, the waterfall is approximately half hour walk away. Its a easy trek/trail and no pre trek experience is required.

The Ramoshi(Bedar ro Hunter) community chiefs serving the Bijapur Adil Shah, carved out kingdom after the Adil hah was defeated and Bijapur annexed. Gajagand Pitamber Pid Nayak fought a number of battles with mughals to take back forts which were earlier part of Bijapur. Built capital at Wagangera and resisted Mughals until final siege n 1704. Nayaka lost the battle but escaped to Surpur and built new capital. Aurangzeb won Wagangera , but found empty treasure, burnt down and deserted city. Aurangzeb returned to Aurangabad and died in 2 years. While the Surpur(Shorapur) kingdom continued for 22 years as Independent kingdom, then from 1726 to 1801 as a feudatory of Nizam of Hyderabad. 1801 when under the protection of British East India Company.

This Saint is believed to be the reincarnation of Lord Dattatraya. The Samadhi of this Saint is worshipped by the devotees. The Death Anniversary is celebrated on Chaitra Shuddha Trayodashi every year. Large number of devotees visit the place everyday.
The present temple is built around famous banyan tree. This is the same banyan tree sitting under which Shri.Swami Maharaj used to meditate and preach the followers. The temple consists of main temple, sabha mandap and accommodation. Annacchatra (free meals to devotees) is organized daily (two times in day) by temple authorities.
The Swami Samarth Maharaj came to Akkalkot at the beginning of Shake 1779. The total period of reincarnation of Swamiji as the fourth Avataar of Shri. Datta is forty years of which he spent 21 years in Akkalkot.
From the historic point of view Shri.Swami Maharaj brought to an end his avatar in Shake 1800. But after three months, he resurrected and appeared before the faithful in Kashi (Varanasi). The holy Samadhi of Shri. Swamiji is loacated in the house of shri. Cholappa in the place already reserved for it before his bodily demise. This is known as Samadhimath. The spiritual fearless slogan in marathi ‘BHIU NAKOS MI TUJHYA PATHISHI AAHE’ (Don’t fear, I am with you) is given by Shri. Samarth Swami Maharaj himself.

श्री स्वामी समर्थ महाराजांचे स्थान म्हणुन अक्कलकोट प्रसिध्द आहे. अक्कलकोट शहर सोलापूर जिल्हा मुख्यालयापासून ३८ कि मी अंतरावर वसलेले आहे. श्री स्वामी समर्थ महाराजांना श्री दत्तात्रयाचे अवतार मानले जाते. श्री स्वामी समर्थांची समाधी भक्ताकडून पुजली जाते. दर वर्षी चैत्र शुद्ध त्रयोदशीला स्वामी समर्थांची पुण्यतिथी साजरी केली जाते. राज्यातून व पर राज्यातून मोठ्या संख्येने भक्त गण नित्य नेमाने भेट देतात.
सध्याचे स्वामी समर्थ मंदिर हे एका वडाच्या झाडाच्या भोवती बांधले आहे. ह्याच वडाच्या झाडाखाली बसून श्री स्वामी समर्थ ध्यान धारणा करीत व भक्तांना उपदेश देत असत. मंदिराच्या परिसरात मुख्य मंदिर, सभा मंटप व भक्तांसाठी राहण्याची व्यवस्था आहे. मंदिर समितीतर्फे भक्तांसाठी अन्नछत्रामध्ये रोज दुपारी व रात्री मोफत भोजनाची (प्रसादाची) व्यवस्था करण्यात आलेली आहे.
श्री स्वामी समर्थ महाराज हे शके १७७९ च्या सुरुवातीला अक्कलकोट येथे आले. श्री दत्तात्रयाचे चौथे अवतार मानले गेलेल्या श्री स्वामी समर्थांचा एकूण कार्यकाळ ४० वर्षाचा आहे त्यापैकी २१ वर्षे त्यांचे वास्तव्य अक्कलकोट येथे होते.
इतिहासकारांच्या मते श्री स्वामी समर्थांचे अवतार कार्य शके १८०० मध्ये संपन्न झाले. पण तीन महिन्यानंतर स्वामी समर्थ काशी (वाराणशी) येथे प्रकट झाले. श्री स्वामी समर्थांची पवित्र समाधी त्यांचे शिष्य श्री चोळप्पा ह्यांचा घरात आहे. हे ठिकाण समाधीमठ असे ओळखले जाते. भक्तांना संकट प्रसंगी धीर व मानसिक बळ देणारे “भिऊ नकोस – मी तुझ्या पाठीशी आहे” हे घोष वाक्य श्री स्वामी सामार्थांचेच आहे.

The Akkalkot Swami Samarth Maharaj Temple is most famous temple in Maharastre situated near the city of Solapur.
It is said that Shri Swami Samartha Maharaj, a 19th century saint, stayed in Akkalkot for ~22 years. Beleif in devotees is that he is an incarnation of Lord Dattatreya. Thousands of devotees visit this place every year.
The temple named as the Vatavruksh Mandir, houses an ancient Banyan tree, where the saint used to preach his followers. The holy tree attracts devotees attention.

Swāmi Samarth Mahāraj more commonly Shri Swami Samarth Maharaj (also known as Akkalkot Swāmi Mahāraj) of Akkalkot (left the physical body in 1878). He was also lovingly referred to as Swami Samartha or Akkalkot Maharaj by his devotees.[3][4] was an Indian Guru of the Dattatreya tradition (sampradaya), widely respected in indian states of Maharashtra,[5] as well as in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh with Shripad Shri Vallabha and Narasimha Saraswati. His existence in physical form is dated in the nineteenth century AD.
Shri Swami Samarth traveled all over the country and eventually set his abode at Akkalkot village in Maharashtra, India. Maharaj first appeared at Akkalkot on a Wednesday around the September–October period in the year 1856 AD near Khandoba Mandir. He stayed in Akkalkot for close to twenty-two years. His parentage & native place details remain obscure to this day. Once when a devotee posed him a question about his life Shri Swami Samarth indicated that he is the origin of the Banyan tree (Vata- Vriksha). On another occasion Swami said that his name was Nrusimha Bhan and that he was from Kardalivan near Srisailam .
Swami himself said that he came from the Kardali forest. He repeatedly visited places like Puri, Banaras (Kashi), Haridwar, Girnar, Kathiawad and Rameswaram as well as China, Tibet and Nepal and stayed at Mangalvedha, a town near Pandharpur in Solapur district before settling down in Akkalkot.[6] He came to Akkalkot in 1856 on the invitation of Chintopant Tol and stayed on the outskirts of the town for 22 years. He stayed at Ganagapura, Karnataka for a long time where he delivered the Nirguna Padukas to his disciples and devotees before leaving for the Kardali forest.
