శ్రీ తెన్నేటి విశ్వనాధం పెద్దేరు రిజర్వాయర్ ప్రాజెక్ట్ అనకాపల్లి జిల్లాలోని మాడుగుల (M)లో రావిపాలెం (V) సమీపంలో ఏర్పడిన శారదా నదికి ఉపనది అయిన పెద్దేరు నదిపై ఒక మధ్యస్థ నీటిపారుదల రిజర్వాయర్ ప్రాజెక్ట్. ఈ పథకం కింద ఆయకట్టు 19,322 ఎకరాలు ఉంది. నాబార్డు సహాయంతో పథకం చేపట్టి పూర్తి చేశారు. అనకాపల్లి జిల్లాలోని మాడుగుల, రావికమతం మరియు బుచ్చయ్యపేట అనే 3 మండలాల్లో విస్తరించి ఉన్న 62 గ్రామాలు ఈ రిజర్వాయర్ పథకం కింద లబ్ది పొందిన మొత్తం గ్రామాలు. 2007 ఖరీఫ్‌లో నీటిపారుదల సామర్థ్యం పూర్తిగా సృష్టించబడింది.

ఈ ప్రాజెక్టును 10-09-2006న 13,334 ఎకరాల విస్తీర్ణంలో గౌరవనీయులైన ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్ ముఖ్యమంత్రి డా.శ్రీ.వై.యస్.రాజశేఖరరెడ్డి జాతికి అంకితం చేశారు మరియు 2007లో ఖరీఫ్‌కు నీరు విడుదల చేశారు మేజర్ మరియు మీడియం ఇరిగేషన్ శ్రీ పొన్నాల లక్ష్మయ్య.

Matsyagundam Rocky Stream with dangerous Whirlpools & Swirlings 2

Matsyagundam is a rocky restriction near the river Sileru where fairly large fish get entrapped in their journey up and down.There is a Shiva (Matsyalingeshwara) temple and a handful of tribals around.

Matsyagundam near Paderu which is at a height of 2844 ft above MSL with an annual rainfall of 1200 mm. There is a Hindu mythological story attached to this place. In the ancient times, there was a battle between the fishes led by Matsya Raju (the King of fishes) and the snakes. The fishes were protected by Lord Matsyalingeswara.(Lord Shiva) and hence the local tribes seldom net the fishes in this area, on the contrary they pay tributes to them during the annual Jatara held for three days from Mahasivaratri Day. This place has a beautiful stream with dangerous whirlpools. On the banks is situated the Matsyalingeswara Temple.

Matsyagundam Waterfalls

History :-
Matsyagundam is a beautiful pool in the Araku valley, about 115 km from Visakhapatnam. This is a famous tourist destination with fish of many varieties and sizes. Popularly known as fish pool, Matsyagundam draws a large number of tourists.

A century old temple called Shri Matsyalingeshwara Swamy Temple is the nearby attraction. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Machkhand River flows through nearby. Sangda Waterfall is easily accessible from this spot. The nearest railway station is at Araku and Visakhapatnam Airport is the nearest airport.

Matsyagundam is know for its centuries old Sri Matsyalingeswara Swamy Temple. The Mythological story is that a fight between the Snakes (singarajulu) and fishes (Matsyarajulu) took place. The Mother fish brought all the fishes here from a place called Gemmili for safety from the snakes and ever since then the fish have liveed here giving it the name Matsya Gundam. It is belived that these fishes continue to be protected by Lord Matysyalingeswara Swami.

The villageers neither eat not hunt the fish. The mother fish still fighting at Gemmili. People from the entire agency area and from the surrounding districts gather once in a year to celebrate Maha Shivarathri for three days, to perform pujas and cultural programs (Locally called jaatara).
