Jamaica's BEST KEPT SECRET Hanover Beaches Revealed!
The coastline, of the parish of Hanover, is lined, with some of the finest, most unspoilt, strips of beaches in Jamaica, most of them public, and a handful, privately operated.
The water quality and natural attributes of the Hanover’s beaches are the main features which make them great places to swim.
Most importantly, there are no rip currents. The beaches are calm, nice and for the most part, shallow.
Additionally, for Hanover’s top three beaches, it is the “white, smooth sand, clear, blue water, absence of “big waves, “good swimming conditions” and “marine life”, and the cliffs which guard them, which make them special. Plus, there is the fact that they do not carry big crowds, and typically range from uncrowded to “not too crowded” on public holidays.
Also very importantly, is the internal feeling that you get when you visit these beaches. There is “tranquility”, “relaxation” a “calm atmosphere”, and “serenity”. And definitely, no harassment.

Travelling through the town of Lucea, in the evenings, on any given day, you will see many Hanoverians, sitting, talking and laughing, or just standing around, at what is the parish capital’s, favourite chill spot.
This place, is the iconic Lucea Verandah.
For decades, this piazza, located at the four-way intersection, of the Willie DeLisser Boulevard, Millers Drive, Hanover Street and Seaview Drive, has served the purposes akin to a community peace park.
