Top 10 Places to Visit in Thailand

Hi everyone. This is David Hoffmann of Davidsbeenhere. In the spring of 2013, I spent six incredible weeks exploring the country of Thailand. I drove from Bangkok all the way up to Chiang Rai and then flew down to the islands.

My Film Making Kit ►

Ayutthaya Historical Park, which in addition to it being a fascinating historical park, is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It’s about one hour from Bangkok, which makes it a quick and easy day trip from the city.

Bangkok, here’s a reason why this gritty, sophisticated, chaotic, cosmopolitan city is such a draw for travelers from all over the world. Here, you can visit Thailand’s top attraction, the Grand Palace complex; admire the impressive, porcelain architecture at Wat Arun, also known as the Temple of the Dawn; see the largest reclining Buddha statue in Thailand at Wat Pho; experience a feast for both your eyes and your stomach in the Chinatown district; experience one of Thailand’s best culinary gems at Boat Noodle Alley and so much more. I love this city so much. It’s truly a traveler’s paradise.

Chiang Mai, millions of travelers and expats from all over the world have been entranced by this city over the years, and it’s not hard to see why, between the laid-back culture, incredible dining, gorgeous Buddhist temples, and spirited nightlife. The nightly bazaar is a favorite among bargain shoppers looking for deals on various items, but the Sunday Night Market is where you’ll also find musicians, street performers, and vendors selling handmade arts and crafts.

The White Temple, an ornate architectural marvel that's just a 20-minute drive south from Chiang Rai. It was built and conceptualized by Thai artist Ajarn Chalermchai Kositpipat, who purposely designed it so that it doesn’t match the style of other Buddhist temples in the country.

Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, located an hour and a half from Bangkok. Here you can buy souvenirs, fresh produce, and clothing from local vendors and try local dishes like noodle bowls, coconut pancakes, stir-fried dishes, fresh fruit, and spring rolls. Arrive early to avoid the mid-morning influx of tourists and don’t forget to bring cash!

Golden Triangle Park, which lies roughly 45 minutes north of Chiang Rai where the Mekong River separates Thailand, Myanmar, and Laos. While this area was once known for its opium production, the crop has since been eradicated here.

Koh Lanta Island should definitely be on your itinerary. Koh Lanta offers a much more laid-back atmosphere than the bustling beaches of Phuket and Samui. Bamboo Beach’s crystal clear water makes it perfect for swimming and snorkeling. Be sure to check out Lanta Old Town and Koh Lanta National Park while you’re on the island.

Lopburi, a town located 150 kilometers northeast of Bangkok and is known for its ancient ruins.Unlike the ruins at Ayutthaya and Sukothai, the ruins of Lopburi will take a lot more effort to visit because they’re more spread out.The ruins of Lopburi are well known for the energetic macaques that roam the temples.

Phuket, which is well-known around the world for its beaches, incredible views, and nightlife. Phuket boasts 25 Buddhist temples, including Wat Chong, a three-story temple that is said to house a bone relic of the Buddha. If you’d rather take part in some water-based activities, check out one of Phuket’s beaches, including Surin, Bang Tao,and Patong. I visited Phang Nga Bay with Captain Mark’s Alternative tours for a full day speed boat tour.

Sukhothai, the first ancient capital of the Kingdom of Siam and like Ayutthaya, the historical park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Some of the site’s most beautiful and impressive structures at include the park’s largest temple, Wat Mahatat, the three-pillared Wat Si Sawai temple, and Pra Achana Buddha at Wat Si Chun. Sukhothai Historical Park is quite large and requires a full day to see it all.

And that’s my list of ten places you must visit when you go to Thailand. There’s truly something for everyone in this amazing country, and as I said earlier, my trip there is one of my favorites I’ve ever gone on. If you’ve never been to Thailand, I hope this video made you want to go! If you loved this video, please give it a thumbs up, leave me a comment below, and subscribe to my channel. Top 10 Must Visit Places in Thailand 🇹🇭 2024

Thai ethnic group migrated into mainland Southeast Asia over a period of centuries. The word Siam (Thai: สยาม RTGS: Sayam) may have originated from Pali (suvaṇṇabhūmi, land of gold), Sanskrit श्याम (śyāma, dark), or Mon ရာမည (rhmañña, stranger), with likely the same root as Shan and Ahom. Xianluo (Chinese: 暹羅) was the Chinese name for the Ayutthaya Kingdom, merged from Suphannaphum city-state, centered in modern-day Suphan Buri; and Lavo city-state, centered in modern-day Lop Buri. To the Thai, the name of their country has mostly been Mueang Thai.

Exploring LOPBURI Thailand 🇹🇭 DAY TRIP from Bangkok Thailand

In this vlog we are taking you on a Bangkok day trip. We will be exploring Lopburi Thailand. We will start a vlog visiting Saraburi Wat Tham Krabok Temple. This is an actual working temple and this was for sure the highlight of our trip.
We could not come to this province without visiting Lopburi Monkey Temple. Wat Phra Prang Sam Yot is located in a center of Lopburi town, which is over taken by monkeys, you could say that this is main monkey city in Thailand as it lives 10000 monkey there.
After we got attacked by ants we had a quick coffee break in a popular cafe in Lopburi Cafe & Basil Coffee and then we drove to Sub Lek Reservoir for one of the best sunsets we ever saw. Sunset in Lopburi was something else.
We highly recommend you Lopburi things to do included in this vlog.

Lopburi Thailand - Old Town Walking Tour - 2022

Lopburi is a large province in Central Thailand. The provincial capital is also called Lopburi and is one of Thailand’s oldest cities.

Prehistoric artifacts have been discovered in the area; it was a major settlement during the Dvaravati era (between the 6th and 11th centuries), and it was also an important town during the Khmer period. It came under Thai rule in the late 13th century and served briefly as a Siamese capital.

Today, Lopburi has two distinct areas: the Old Town and New Town. Most places of interest to tourists can be found in the atmospheric Old Town. There are fascinating Ancient Ruins to explore, and part of the town is overrun with mischievous crab eating macaques.

Many people start around Wat Prang Sam Yod, an ancient Khmer period temple that is also known as the Monkey Temple. Although small, the ruins are interesting, with three prangs and a large stone Buddha statue. It’s also easy to see the Khmer influence in the architecture.

There are many small temple ruins to see as well as the former royal palace of King Narai. Other interesting things to see include the oldest building in the city, the city wall and so much more.

The best part about exploring places like this is you never know what you will see.

What I know about the city of Lop Buri 👇 👇 👇 👇 👇
Famous attractions in Lopburi🌄:
Phra Prang Sam Yot is a famous scenic spot in Lopburi, which is also the most crowded spot for monkeys. It is about 400 meters from the Lop Buri train station. It is about 300 meters from the KO Van Lop Buri, a minibus station to Bangkok.
The biggest night market in Lop Buri is just across the road from it.
Map🌎:

About the monkeys in Lopburi 🐵 🐒:
Thousands of monkeys live in the city of Lopburi. When you are in areas with lots of monkeys, monkeys may jump on your shoulders, on your head, and may try to take your glasses, necklaces, earrings, mobile phones, wallets, food, or anything that can be taken away. So, be careful, preferably with a stick or selfie stick, etc. in hand to scare off the monkeys trying to jump on you. When a monkey jumps on you, if you don't stop it, a second monkey and a third monkey will jump on you.

The monkey festival in Lopburi 🐵 🐒 🍉 🍓:
Every year on the last Sunday of November, fruit banquets are held for thousands of monkeys near Phra Prang Sam Yot in the Lop Buri. The scene is very interesting.
Four separate banquets take place at 10:00 AM, 12:00 PM, 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM.
The Lop Buri Monkey Festival is an incredibly unique experience that you need to see for yourself to believe.

Method 2: 🚐 By minibus: from Bangkok to Lop Buri, it’s about 2 hours

Food 🥣 🍍:
🌙 There is a small night market near Lop Buri Railway Station, where you can buy very cheap local street food and juices.
🌙 There is the biggest night market in Lop Buri just across the road from Phra Prang Sam Yot. At night, outside the night market, you can see the small ferris wheel in the night market and hear music. I will show the biggest night market in Lop Buri in the next few videos, which is really very big.

Weather⛅ 🌡️
When I was in Lop Buri at the end of November, it was very hot and sunny during the day, so it's best to bring a bottle of water. If you are afraid of getting a tan, bring a sunshade.

Things to do in Saraburi + Lopburi province.

Continuing from our last episode, you can catch up on the latest developments here:

In this latest episode, we venture further north, delving into an array of captivating sightseeing destinations and delectable food experiences.

First, we make a pit stop at a Saraburi province petrol station to savour the renowned Karee Pup, a snack possibly named after the delectable Curry Puff.

Following that, we enjoy a swift yet satisfying lunch at a century-old restaurant specializing in deep-fried wontons, located within the Sao Hai market, itself celebrating a century of existence.

Kieow Krob 100 years restaurant:
100 years old Sao Hai market:

1. Wat Tham Krabok Temple

- A mesmerizing place to visit, boasting unique architectural statues crafted from lava stone. The sight of these statues is truly awe-inspiring. As you wander through the temple grounds, you'll quickly grasp the contrast between our small human presence and the grandeur of the giant Buddha images that surround us.

2. Phra Prang Sam Yot

- In this episode, we briefly explore ancient buildings by car. However, if you have extra time, we recommend visiting Phra Prang. It is a renowned site with a significant historical background. Interestingly, the monkeys near Phra Prang are generally more approachable than those occasionally found in buildings. While local Thai residents often exercise caution when around Phra Prang, you can enjoy a safe visit as long as you refrain from disturbing the monkeys. On the other hand, in my personal experience, the monkeys in other areas tend to be wilder.

3. Basil & Coffee

- This place is well-known for its Pad Kraprao and Coffee, but unfortunately, we got there late, so we missed out on trying the Pad Kraprao this time. However, we still had a wonderful coffee and some tasty snacks while kicking back and soaking in the beautiful view in front of us.

4. Sub-Lek Reservoir

- We decided to check out the man-made beach, which is just a small section of this reservoir. You can find the exact location here:
The atmosphere in this area is pretty local, with the pleasant background noise of other groups not too far away. The sunset behind the mountain is hands down one of the best you'll find in Thailand. If you're looking for an even better view of the sunset, consider taking a short hike up the 200-meter pathway to this spot, guaranteed to give you a fantastic IG-worthy photo. Here's the location for that:

I've been fortunate to have a couple YouTube friends join me on this exciting journey. Make sure to visit their channels and subscribe for more adventures:

Lopburi MONKEY MAFIA's Monkey Temple - My Office for the day

I'm sure you'be all seen videos of huge gangs of monkeys fighting on the street in Thailand. That place is the ancient town of Lopburi, Thailand. It is known as monkey town as the monkeys are worshipped here and fed daily (as well as an annual monkey banquet). That all went a bit awry during the lockdown period; they weren't getting fed much so they got hangry (hungry plus angry). Gang fights broke out, all centred around the crossroads and Pra Prang Sam Yot, an ancient Khmer temple from the 13th century.
Anyway, I had work to do so I was looking for a cool place; Karl (of the Youtube channel Love Thailand) suggested inside the old temple because: it is cool and dry, the monkeys don't enter as the monkey man will get them with a catapult; and hardly anybody goes there as there are still very few tourists. I locked myself in and worked for a couple of hours, watched by literally hundreds of cheeky monkeys (9-10,000 call this part of the town centre home), swinging at the gates.
The trick in this town is to: carry no food and drink or it WILL get robbed; don't stand still for too long or the younger ones will climb on your head; and show no fear at all.
I often 'work'/write in some extremely unorthodox places. If you want to see more, please comment below and I will film some.

King Narai Palace | Historic ruins 🇹🇭 | Culture Trip | Lopburi, Thailand tour 08

#culturetrip #ruins #lopburi #thailandtour

The King Narai's Palace (Thai: พระนารายณ์ราชนิเวศน์; RTGS: Phra Narai Ratchaniwet) in Lopburi was built by King Narai the Great, the king who ruled Ayutthaya from 1656 to 1688. He ordered the palace built in 1666 in the same area as King Ramesuan's Palace. King Narai stayed here for about 8–9 months a year, except during the rainy season. He designated Lopburi as the second capital of the Ayutthaya Kingdom. The palace was a place for relaxation, hunting, administering the country's affairs, and welcoming official visitors. When the king died in 1688, Lopburi and the palace were abandoned.
The palace is described in the Eulogy of King Narai, probably composed around 1680. The description highlights the system for bringing piped water to the palace.
King Mongkut (Rama IV) of Rattanakosin ordered the restoration of King Narai's Palace. He built a new throne hall complex (Phiman Monkut Pavilion) for his stay in 1856. He also renamed the palace Phra Narai Rajanivet. During King Chulalongkorn's (Rama V) reign, Phiman Mongkut Pavilion, which had been King Mongkut's accommodations, was given to the government to use as the Lopburi City Hall. On October 11, 1924, Prince Damrong Rajanubhab and Prince Narisara Nuwattiwong opened the Chantarapisarn Pavilion in King Narai's palace as a museum, calling it the Lopburi Museum. Later, in 1961 the name of the museum was changed to Somdet Phra Narai National Museum. To date, the museum has exhibited more than 1,864 items of the collection of ancient artifacts in different pavilions and buildings of the palace.

Affentempel Prang Sam Yot in Lopburi Thailand. #thailand #lopburi #affen

Monkeys in Lop Buri - Thailand 4K Travel Channel

Lop Buri is known as a monkey city in Thailand. The Crab-eating macaques upset the entire urban area. But they mainly gather around the Phra Prang Sam Yot. The Phra Prang Sam Yot is a Buddhist temple complex consisting of three laterite towers in Khmer style, the so-called Prangs. The temple is the landmark of the city.
Myriads of monkeys gather here and are tolerated as they attract tourists. There are two different monkey clans facing each other here. On the temple grounds, it is the temple clan.
The other monkey clan, the market clan, has obtained a position on the opposite side of the street. Innumerable monkeys populate the facades of the houses. Both clans are not very friendly against each other. They strictly observe that no intruder violates their own territory.
Throughout the city, it is actually forbidden to feed the monkeys. But you can see people who bring food and distribute it to the monkeys.
On the opposite side in the south of the area is a small shrine, the San Phra Kan. Behind it hide the remains of a Khmer Prang, which is used as a monkey retreat. It is the only place in the city where the feeding of the monkeys is officially allowed.
But it seems that the monkeys are doing well; for the most part, they are very peaceful. The monkeys use the surrounding railway and power lines as gymnastics apparatuses. But we suspect that the power lines are in the meantime out of service. The monkeys barely take notice of the passing trains.
After watching the bustle for a while, we drive to our hotel. We don't want to do a description because it not recommendable.
