Ultimate Guide: Explore EVERY Lake Lyell Camp Site In 10 Minutes (near Lithgow)
Join Gibbo & Tarn onboard the DMAX for this drive-around tour of every campsite on the Lake Lyell Recreation Park Campground including the one glamping tent setup.
We created this video as we felt this type of resource was not available online at the time of filming.
Lake Lyell is situated on the outskirts of Lithgow approximately two-and-a-half hours West of Sydney. There is an approximate surface area of 238ha and a maximum water depth of 38m.
There is so much on offer at Lake Lyell. Throw out the tent on one of the non-powered sites or roll the van in and plug it straight into the power. The kids can play in the park or swim safely in the designated swimming area while the adults cook lunch under the covered free BBQ area.
This area is popular for fishing, water skiing, 4WDing, swimming and canoeing. The Lake has plenty of fish for the angler in the family, Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout, Australian Bass, Goldfish, and Redfin.
Once the boat is safely back on the trailer jump into the amenities for a hot shower. Toilets as well as disabled toilets and showers are available.
Facilities include a kiosk, boat ramp, amenities block with hot showers, toilets, disabled toilet, covered BBQ area, picnic benches, park, designated swimming area, powered and non-powered camping sites suitable for vans, tents, camping trailers, caravans, and motor-homes. The office sells ice, firewood and kindling, souvenirs, water sports gear, basic groceries, frozen and refrigerated drinks, and the staff were very friendly.
For more information and to book online:
Enjoy!

Glowworm Tunnel, Wollemi National Park, Newnes Plateau, Lithgow
The Glowworm Tunnel in Wollemi National Park near Lithgow is a disused railway tunnel constructed between 1906 and 1907 to transport shale oil from Newnes to Lithgow. Its most notable characteristic today is the resident Glowworms that inhabit the deepest part of the 400m tunnel.
This short film takes you on a journey through the glowworm tunnel. Using long exposure photography combined with modern video compositing techniques we have been able to bring these Glowworms to the screen as never seen before.

4WD day trip to the 'Lost City', NSW, Australia
4WD day trip to the 'Lost City' along part of Ranger Bob Firetrail in our Subaru Outback.
Located near Newnes and Lithgow, NSW, the Lost City is a collection of rock outcrops, and the dirt road in had supposedly been in good condition so we decided to go the more adventurous route in... but we found out a bit of rain and a few visitors to the area can totally change the road conditions.
Fortunately the Outback had the help of some friends who guided it like pros, and had Maxtrax on hand too!
