BAROTSE PLAINS YOUR ULTIMATE TIGER FISHING DESTINATION!
Barotse Plains your ultimate tiger fishing destination!
Hidden in the 15,000 km2 Barotse Flood Plan is an exclusive and pristine area known as Barotseland which offers some of the best Tiger fishing you will find anywhere on earth. It is remote, desolate and isolated. A fishermen’s paradise!
More trophy Tiger Fish are caught here than anywhere on the entire 2500km length of the mighty Zambezi River.
If Tiger fishing is your passion, this paradise is a must on your bucket list!
Yes you can save more than 100km if you take this shortcut!
What he forgot to share was the condition of the bridge they would need to cross.
So instead, they ran short on diesel and had to buy at the roadside.
Mike Birkett and I are headed on an exciting adventure exploring one of the best tiger fishing opportunities in Africa
The road is long and will take 3 days to reach Mongu harbour in Zambia, where we plan to launch our pontoon home for the next 6 weeks.
We are routing through Botswana and our first overnight stop was close to the Zambian Border near Kasane.
The Kazungula pontoon ferry, traverses the 400-meter crossing into Zambia and is one of the largest ferries in the region with a carrying capacity of 70 tons.
This bus carrying more than 60 passengers is accommodated quiet comfortably on the ferry but needs to disembark all passengers for safety reason before boarding the ferry.
Crossing borders into neighbouring states has become nothing short of extorsion and the powers that be are doing everything in their power to discourage tourists.
How and where do you find that kind of cash in the correct currency at such a remote location.
This adventure was always on my bucket list and indeed Mike and I were extremely privileged to have had the opportunity of this wonderful experience.
