Riga, Latvia’s capital, is set on the Baltic Sea at the mouth of the River Daugava. It's considered a cultural center and is home to many museums and concert halls. The city is also known for its wooden buildings, art nouveau architecture and medieval Old Town. The pedestrian-only Old Town has many shops and restaurants and is home to busy Livu Square, with bars and nightclubs.
Latvia is a country on the Baltic Sea between Lithuania and Estonia. Its landscape is marked by wide beaches as well as dense, sprawling forests. Latvia’s capital is Riga, home to notable wooden and art nouveau architecture, a vast Central Market and a medieval Old Town with St. Peter's Church. Riga's museums include the Latvian Ethnographic Open-Air Museum, showcasing local crafts, food and music.

Limbažu pilsdrupas un skatu tornis

Gotiskā Limbažu pils bija Rīgas arhibīskapa pils, taču 1223. gads (avotos pirmo reizi minēti Limbaži) kā pils celšanas gads nav dokumnetāri pamatojams. No 1359. līdz 1479. ga pili okupēja ordenis. 16. gadsimta pirmās puses dokumentos Limbažu pils pieminēta kā arhibīskapa pavasara mītne - bīskaps pilī dzīvojis no Sveču dienas (2. februāra) līdz Vasarsvētkiem (maija beigas vai jūnija sākums). Bet 14.-15. gadsimta senrakstos parādās fakts, ka arhibīskaps mēdza pilī uzturēties arī citos gadalaikos. Livonijas kara sākumā pili dedzināja krievu karaspēks. 1567. gadā pilsētai uzbruka zviedri, 1576. gadā pilij uzbruka hercogs Magnuss. No 1582. gada Limbaži kļuva par poļu stārastijas centru. 1602. gadā zviedri nojauca pils nocietinājumus, kurus vēlāk neatjaunoja. 1621. gadā Zviedrijas karalis Gustavs II Ādolfs Limbažu pili ar muižu atdāvināja Rīgas pilsētai, kurai pils piederēja līdz 1783. gadam. 1668. gadā veiktajā inventarizācijā ir minēts, ka pilij jau ir sabrukušas sienas, bet atsevišķas telpas tiek vēl apdzīvotas un izmantotas par noliktavu. Tajā laikā pils pagalmā bija jau uzceltas koka dzīvojamās mājas un saimniecības ēkas. 18. gadsimta beigās virs zemes visā augstumā bija saglabājušies tikai divi pils korpusi, kuri izmantoti par noliktavām līdz pat II Pasaules karam. Pēckara gados abiem korpusiem iebrucis jumts, iegāzušās velves un sagruvušas arī vairākas sienas. 19. gs. uz nojauktās sienas pamatiem uzbūvēja muižas magazīnu, kuras vietā 20. gadsimtā uzcēla saimniecības ēku. No 1999.-2000. g. tiek veikti pils mūru nostiprināšanas un konservēšanas darbi.

Danny Slant wakes up at 6:00 AM at Tiia Majutus Guesthouse Pärnu, Estonia, searches for a breakfast and finds it at Cafe Grande - Hotel Victoria. 8 am he is finally off riding his bicycle southbound on the Eurovelo bicycle path system towards Latvia. Combination of nice paved paths, some very busy super highway miles, sees some log cabins, hears the giant woodpeckers. Sees an old Lada Zhiguli car in Häädemeeste, Estonia. Meets some very sporty and cordial bicyclists in Kabli, Estonia , they are taking a group bicycle tour heading north towards Pärnu. I believe that was @richardandfionabelsten9762 and their friends in the bike tour group. Thank you Richard & Fiona for being one of my first subscribers. Stopped and talked to homemade sausage makers selling the delicious meat to their customers. Crosses border into Latvia in Ainaži, Latvia. Stops for lunch , yet again another Hesburger, he really likes them. Lunch is in Ainaži, Latvia. Sees a Hells Angel motorcycle member filling up his gas tank. Heads east and crosses the Salaca River at Mērnieki, Latvia. Has tough miles on gravel roads. Sees some beautiful male deer, giant bucks. Finally arrives at Limbaži, Latvia at Guesthouse (SweetHome). Gets his dinner, at KĻAVA in Limbaži, Latvia , best dinner thus far of the trip, takes a little walk back to the guesthouse and immediately falls asleep , it was another long long day of bike trekking , today's stats were 79 miles / 127 kilometers. #estonia #latvia #lithuania #bicycleride .

Daugavpils - second biggest city in Latvia. Features many factories and other industries.

Kuldīga - Kuldīga is the pearl of Kurzeme, Latvia's western region.
Liepaja - city of music on the Baltic sea coast, which is always windy. Latvians believe that the wind starts in the city; and well-known Latvian musicians come from there. There is a very interesting former secret military town called Karosta, between a lake and the sea. One of the world's largest pipe organs. Famous summer event Baltic Beach Party in July. Fantastic unspoilt, white, soft sandy beach.
Madona - a small scenic town in eastern Vidzeme, surrounded by hills, forests and lakes, capital of winter sports.
Sigulda - popular town with many interesting castles and historic places. Most popular attraction outside Riga for foreign tourists.

Ventspils - hosts one of busiest ports in Europe. It is possible to observe incoming ships.

When thinking of Europe, the small nation of Latvia is probably not one of the first countries to spring to your mind. Buried under the big no-go blanket of the Soviet Union, it has yet to be properly discovered by the large tourist crowds. If you manage to make it there, however, you might just find yourself most positively surprised by the charms of this Baltic country.
Latvia's dynamic capital, the historic city of Riga, is a great place to spend some time. It boasts a truly lovely old quarter, full of magnificent Jugendstil architecture, winding cobblestoned lanes and many steeples. Yet, it is a modern, metropolitan city with a vibrant nightlife and a strong economic impulse, to the extent that the rise of modernist buildings is threatening the old town's World Heritage listing. Riga's vibe gets under many travellers' skins, perhaps for the strong contrasts between old and new or maybe because of the seemingly painless blend of Latvian and Russian cultures, as almost half of the city's inhabitants are of Russian origin. To get a sense of the city, wander through its large, manicured parks, stroll through the historic quarter and then kick back in one of the many cafés or outdoor terraces. Among Riga's best sights are the impressive Riga Cathedral, St. Peter's Church and the bustling Central Market.

1. What camera do you use?
I use a Canon Powershot SX700HS and a GoPro Entry level.
2. Where do you get your music from?
Soundcloud and YouTube Audio Library are the two places where I source creative commons licensed music. I include a link to the content creator in the video description, but sometimes I do forget.
3. How much have you spent on your round the world trip so far?
This is continuously changing as I travel, when I finish my trip I will be revealing how much I spent and what areas cost me the most.
4. Will you create videos after your round the world trip?
Yes! Wherever I end up, be it back home in Yorkshire, England or another country, I will be uploading videos of my travels and exploring. Obviously, this might not be as regular as I upload now, but, new content will be uploading weekly.
5. What software do you use to edit your videos?
I use Adobe Premiere Pro, and occasionally, Adobe After Effects. I am still learning, but find it easier to use than other software.
