Lianzhou City, a county-level city under the administration of Qingyuan City, Guangdong Province, is located in the northwestern part of Qingyuan City, Guangdong Province, at the upper reaches of the Xiaobei River, adjacent to Yangshan County in the southeast, connected to Liannan County in the southwest, connected to Lanshan and Jianghua Counties in Hunan Province in the northwest, bordering Linwu County in Hunan Province in the north, and leaning on the territory of Yizhang County in Hunan Province in the northeast, with a total area of 2,663.33 square kilometres.

It is located between 23º26′56″ and 25º11′40″ north latitude and 111º55′17″ and 113º55′34″ east longitude, connecting Guangzhou City and Foshan City in the south, Hunan Province and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in the north, and bordering Shaoguan City in the east and northeast, and Zhaoqing City in the west and southwest. The border is more than 1,200 km long. 連州是廣東省歷史文化名城。西漢初（公元前183年）立縣，隋朝開皇十年（公元590年）建州，稱連州。明洪武二年(1369)三月，桂陽州省入連州，1912年改為連縣，1994年4月經國務院批准撤縣設市並改名為連州。
連州於2000多年前便有歷史記載，許多歷史上的著名人物，如唐代文學家韓愈，詩人劉禹錫，北宋哲學家周敦頤，南宋宰相張浚、學者張式，明代詩人屈大均，清代學者翁方綱等文人雅士、墨客騷人都在這裡留下了詩文、墨跡和碑記。連州又是古代兵家必爭之地，漢代伏波將軍路博德、南宋著名將領岳飛以及唐朝黃巢都在連州駐守過。當年鄧小平、張雲逸曾率領紅七軍轉戰連州，留下一段佳話。連州還是唐朝宰相劉瞻、晚唐詩人孟賓於和抗日名將馮達飛的故鄉。如今，連州還是第三批全國城市環境綜合整治優秀城市，全國體育先進市、優秀旅遊城市、廣東省旅遊中心城市。

I booked a ten minute flight experience with Xiangtai Airlines' Diamond Star from the Lianzhou General Aviation Airport in Doumen District, Zhuhai, Guangdong. This consisted of one time around the traffic pattern. Before being able to depart on this short flight, we faced a ground delay of around twenty minutes due to an inbound training flight. This was a good time to chat with the flight instructor, who had completed part of his training in Canada. Sorry no inflight video, I was too busy flying the plane.
The airport is located in a rural area and the small terminal has some exhibits about Chinese aviation history and famous Chinese aviators, as well as an extensive model collection. There are at least two flight training companies operating from this airport, Xiangtai Airlines and Aviclub, with Diamond and Cirrus aircraft respectively.

荔枝灣（英文：Lychee Bay）是一個河涌，位於廣東省廣州市荔灣區西關泮塘一帶，有二千多年的歷史，歷史上是有名消夏遊樂地，素有小秦淮之稱，荔灣區因此而命名。
荔枝灣是西關涌（包括上西關涌和下西關涌）和荔枝涌幾條河汊的總稱，範圍大致為現時中山八路、荔灣湖公園、西郊等一帶。其位於西關腹地，毗鄰珠江，匯集眾多名人、名園故址，是西關大屋、西關小姐、西關五寶、西關美食及粵劇曲藝等嶺南廣府文化風情薈萃之地，有「小秦淮」、「嶺南第一勝景」之美稱。
相傳在西元前206年，漢高祖劉邦派遣陸賈至廣州向趙佗勸降，當時陸賈在現在的西村為駐地，他在駐地的附近，沿著溪灣種植荔枝及開闢蓮塘，這就是荔枝灣的由來。
唐朝懿宗鹹通年間，嶺南節度使鄭從諦在荔枝洲上構築荔園，荔枝灣因而出名。
五代南漢後主劉𬬮在荔枝灣建造顯德園（今昌華苑），方圓20餘裡，每當荔枝熟時便與群臣遊宴，稱為「紅雲宴」。顯德園已毀於北宋初期。元朝以昌華苑為禦果園，改種檸檬，製成“渴水”，列為著名貢品之一。明朝以後，荔枝灣內庭園結構建築漸多，並由皇朝禁地轉為詩人雅集的勝地。據記載，當時著名的詩社有荔香園、彭園、綺瀾堂、小畫舫齋等，現今只留下小畫舫齋故址。荔枝灣景色迷人，“荔灣漁唱”，成為明代羊城八景之一。
荔枝灣在古代其實不限於今日的泮塘及荔灣湖一帶。明朝的“荔灣漁唱”，有“千里紅雲，八橋畫舫”之稱，可見西關涌外圍都可稱作荔枝灣，北至驍馬湧（又名洗馬或司馬），南至黃沙。劉王花塢在泮溪（塘），唐荔園在鄭公堤江邊。 《乾隆南海縣志》稱：「廣四十里，袤五十里」。今驛馬湧和上西關湧間，仍有「西苑」及荔枝灣地名，表示唐、宋以來園林區所在。今天荔溪東約、南約、西約、簡溪及泮塘五約圍繞的這片古荔枝灣地（荔枝灣故道），當地人稱為舊荔枝灣。
今天的荔灣湧是專指泮塘口下的上西關湧出珠江水道的一段。
1927年5月尾，市政府正式開放西關上九甫與下九甫新馬路（即上下九），開通後人力車與私家車均可直達避暑勝地荔枝灣。

Lychee Bay is the general name for Xiguan Creek (including Upper Xiguan Creek and Lower Xiguan Creek) and several branches of Lichee Creek. The scope is roughly the current Zhongshan Eighth Road, Liwan Lake Park, Xijiao and other areas. It is located in the hinterland of Xiguan, adjacent to the Pearl River, and gathers many celebrities and famous gardens. It is a place where the Lingnan Cantonese culture and customs such as Xiguan mansions, Xiguan ladies, Xiguan five treasures, Xiguan cuisine and Cantonese opera and music are gathered. It is known as the Little Qinhuai and the first scenic spot in Lingnan.
According to legend, in 206 BC, Emperor Gaozu of Han, Liu Bang, sent Lu Jia to Guangzhou to persuade Zhao Tuo to surrender. At that time, Lu Jia was stationed in the present Xicun. He planted lychees and opened lotus ponds along the creek near his station. This is the origin of Litchi Bay.
During the Xiantong period of Emperor Yizong of the Tang Dynasty, Zheng Congdang, the governor of Lingnan, built a lychee garden on Litchi Island, which made Litchi Bay famous.
Liu Xi, the last emperor of the Southern Han Dynasty in the Five Dynasties, built Xiande Garden (now Changhua Garden) in Litchi Bay, which was more than 20 miles in radius. Whenever lychees were ripe, he would have a banquet with his ministers, which was called Red Cloud Banquet. Xiande Garden was destroyed in the early Northern Song Dynasty. In the Yuan Dynasty, Changhua Garden was used as an imperial orchard, and lemons were planted instead to make thirst water, which was listed as one of the famous tributes. After the Ming Dynasty, there were more and more garden structures in Litchi Bay, and it was transformed from a forbidden place of the dynasty to a place for poets to gather. According to records, the famous poetry societies at that time included Lixiang Garden, Peng Garden, Qilan Hall, Xiaohuafangzhai, etc., and only the site of Xiaohuafangzhai remains today. Litchi Bay has charming scenery, and Litchi Bay Fisherman's Song became one of the eight scenic spots in Guangzhou in the Ming Dynasty.
