10 Most Hated Towns in England

What are the most hated towns in England? No matter how good a country is, every part of it can’t be loved equally. In fact, some parts of it are bound to be hated. Even the most fanatic lover of a country will love some parts of it less than others. I have heard some people complaining about some towns in England, the home of the Queen that some people are dying to live and work in. That prompts research into the 10 most hated towns in England.
This ranking is based mainly on the comments and complaints of residents of England and visitors to those towns. But it’s not limited to that since some complaints can be completely baseless. We dig deeper in researching these 10 most hated towns in England.
10. Slough
Let’s begin with Slough, a town in Berkshire, within the historic county of Buckinghamshire. This town is 20 miles west of central London and 19 miles northeast of Reading. You will find the town in the Thames Valley and within the London metropolis around the area at the intersection of the M4.
In spite of its location, Slough according to those visitors, is a town whose streets are littered with empty takeaway and full of packets or empty beer cans. This assertion hasn’t been contradicted by even just one resident. The quality of food in the town’s restaurants appears, kind of, made for losers who’re just out to eat as much unhealthy food as they can get away with.
9. Scunthorpe
It’s not desirable to find Scunthorpe among the most hated towns in England. Unfortunately, we can’t afford to take it out of our list because the facts obviously place it there. This industrial town in the unitary authority of North Lincolnshire should normally be the pride of Lincolnshire as its main administrative center. But the town with an estimated population of 82,334 in 2016 had many things going against it.
Residents of the UK’s largest steel processing center, also known as the Industrial Garden Town, are frustrated by a lack of the liveliness and diversity in the town only known for work. However, the loudest grouse that lists Scunthorpe alongside the most hated towns in England is the indiscriminate censorship and blocking of websites for spurious reasons.

Places to see in ( Leominster - UK )

Leominster is a market town in Herefordshire, England, and is located at the confluence of the River Lugg and its tributary the River Kenwater, approximately 12 miles north of the city of Hereford and approx 7 miles south of the Shropshire border, 11 miles from Ludlow in Shropshire.

From 1974 to 1996, Leominster served as the administrative centre for the former local government district of Leominster District. Leominster is also the historical home of Ryeland sheep, a breed once famed for its Lemster [sic] wool, known as 'Lemster ore'. This wool was prized above all other English wool in trade with the continent of Europe in the Middle Ages. It was the income and prosperity from this wool trade that established the town and the minster and attracted the envy of the Welsh and other regions.

Leominster railway station has Arriva Trains Wales services on the Welsh Marches Line, northbound to Manchester Piccadilly via Ludlow, Shrewsbury and Crewe as well as Holyhead via Shrewsbury, Wrexham General and Chester and southbound to Milford Haven or Cardiff Central via Hereford and Abergavenny and Newport; links to London Paddington are achieved by changing at Hereford, for services via Worcester and Oxford, or at Newport, South Wales.

Leominster Walk: Town Centre【4K】

Located in the county of Herefordshire, and around 40 miles southwest of Birmingham, is the town of Leominster (pronounced LEM-ster).

Geographically, Leominster is situated around the confluence of the River Lugg and River Kenwater, around 10-15 miles east of the England-Wales border. Its origins go back to the 7th century with the founding of a monastery and a castle by Merewald, King of West Mercia. In the 8th century the monastery was destroyed by the Danes, assisted by the Welsh. The castle at Leominster was also taken.

In 1052, following a raid by Gruffudd ap Llywelyn, the Battle of Llanllieni took place ('Llanllieni' being the Welsh name for Leominster). The Welsh defeated a combined force of Saxons and Normans. Three years later, in 1055, Harold Godwinson drove back the Welsh and refortified Leominster, establishing a garrison.

During the early 12th century King Henry I refounded the monastery at Leominster as a daughter church of the Benedictine Reading Abbey. Some of the stonework from this period remains in place. Parts of the church were demolished in 1539 during Henry VIII's Dissolution of the Monasteries, with the surviving building becoming Leominster's parish church. Inside the church is England's last ducking stool. Ducking stools were a form of public humilitation where offenders would be paraded through the streets on the stool before being dunked into the river. Its final use came in 1817 when Sarah Leeke was wheeled around Leominster town centre before reaching the river whose water levels were too low for dunking.

Historically, industry in Leominster has been based around agriculture and wool. It is home to the Ryland Sheep, a breed once famous for the quality of its wool, and a contributing factor to the town's growth. A number of half-timbered houses in the town are testament to its prosperity from centuries ago.

During the 1850s Leominster railway station opened, initially as a through station, and later a busy junction station. Today it is situated on the Welsh Marches Line between Newport and Crewe.

Leominster is the largest of five towns in Herefordshire, despite having a population of a little over 10,000 according to the last census (bearing in mind Hereford is a city). Its historic town centre and proximity to the countryside around the England-Wales border makes it a popular destination for enthusiasts.

Incredible Places to Visit in Herefordshire

Places to see in ( Bromyard - UK )

Places to see in ( Bromyard - UK )

Bromyard is a market town in Herefordshire, England, situated in the valley of the River Frome. The latest census gives a population in 2011 of approximately 4,500. It lies near to the county border with Worcestershire on the A44 between Leominster and Worcester. Bromyard has a number of traditional half-timbered buildings, including some of the pubs, and the parish church dates back to Norman times. For centuries there was a thriving and livestock and cattle market. The town is twinned with Athis-de-l'Orne, Normandy.

Bromyard is mentioned in Bishop Cuthwulf's charter of c.840. Cudwulf established a monasterium at Bromgeard behind a 'thorny enclosure' with the permission of King Behrtwulf, King of the Mercians. Ealdorman Aelfstan, the local magnate, was granted between 500–600 acres of land for a villa beside the River Frome.

For centuries market day was always held on a Monday at Bromyard. The market town was a centre for agriculture with a fair for selling produce grown locally; as well as beef, there were hops, apples and pears, and soft fruit remained vital late into the post-war era. Some farms remained in the church's hands until the late 20th century. The carrier system also operated in Bromyard, within a given radius of the Teme to the north, Frome Hill to the east, and Lugg to the south. The dealers brought supplies to the many outlets, pubs, inns, traders and by the 19th century the shops. In 1751 Bromyard obtained a Turnpike Trust that established a toll road as far as Canon Frome, with some minor roads turnpiked to prevent tax evasion.

The Worcester, Bromyard and Leominster Railway, now dismantled, was first proposed in 1845, and an Act of Parliament to build it obtained in 1861. Estimated to cost £20,000, that number of £10 shares were issued. When sold to the Great Western Railway in 1887, the shares were only worth ten shillings. Bromyard is a starting place of the A465 road which runs to the M4 in South Wales. The town centre is bypassed by the A44 road that connects Aberystwyth to Oxford. Bromyard is notable for its many old and historically interesting buildings that are designated blue plaque buildings, especially in High Street, Broad Street, Market Square, Sherford Street and Rowberry Street, including a number of half-timbered public-houses and dwelling houses.

( Bromyard - UK ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting Bromyard . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Bromyard - UK
