general information
The provincial city of Drenthe in the Netherlands is located in the northeastern part, and partially borders with Germany. The region is distinguished not only by its geographical position, but also by the fact that it is in this area that many minerals are located, as well as natural gas is being extracted, mainly the local population is involved in this area.
Capital
The capital of the region is Assen, with a population of more than 64 thousand people, and successfully continues to develop in the industry (construction of dairies, rehabilitation medical centers). As for the tourist infrastructure, it attracts the area with ancient settlements, large heavy stones, boulders, and it is also here that one of the first racing tracks is located.
Nature (landscapes, beautiful places)
Nature richly rewarded this region with sights. Among the natural beauty, it is worth highlighting the national parks:
Dwingelderveld National Park - many reservoirs are located among sand boulders, as well as a habitat for rare snakes, and thanks to the quality care of the territory, the structure of fauna and flora is being renewed.
The Drents-Friese Wold National Park is located far from the mass tourist view, but once you get here, you can retire and be in silence. Among the sand dunes there are walking areas, campsites where tourists can relax and take a walk in untouched nature.
Principal cities: Assen, Emmen, Meppel, Coevorden
Assen is not the most touristic center, but in the autumn it becomes a bustling place with Latin American dance festivals, as well as many cycling competitions.
Emmen is a rather rural area in the Drenthe region, although it is a small provincial town, people love to live in it and develop it. There is no tourism potential in it, but the town hall, the market square are the main city attractions.
Meppel is the smallest of all cities in the region, but its most important asset is the port area through which important ships pass.
Coevorden is a southern province that just has tourism potential and attractions that are of interest to many visiting tourists.
What to see
Basically, Drenthe can be seen in a few days, since there are few places in the province that attract a vast mass of tourists. But, the most important part, which is worth taking time for, is the zoo, which also combines one of the largest amusement parks, home to many animals that enjoy a comfortable African climate.
Of course, it is worth it for car enthusiasts and speed lovers to go to Assen and visit the Grand Prix in motorcycle racing.
And for those people who want to get closer to nature, the ideal solution would be a trip to the Drenche AA valley.
Attractions
Among the places of interest in the region, it is worth highlighting:
Museum of Printing in Meppel, where you can learn about the history of printing, printing presses, as well as how books were printed.
Historical Museum of Drenthe - located in Assean and is a complete historical picture of the region, the industry, as well as the inhabitants who inhabit it.
Dwingelderveld is a national park, a natural attraction that has recently become popularized for tourists.
Hanebedsentrum is a museum of everyday life and society in Drenthe, which reveals information about the inhabitants among primitive things and attributes.

Welcome to my channel.
This video about Zoetermeer.
Subscribe for more video's.
In the tenth century Zoetermeer was a small village primarily home to farmers and fishermen. In the 13th century a village center was formed, which still exists as the historic Dorpsstraat. Until the 17th century there was a lake called the Zoetermeer. A reminder of this is the Zoetermeerse Plas in the Noord Aa recreation area at the northern edge of town; this artificial lake was created when tons of sand were needed to lay the foundation for new housing development, and the area north of Zoetermeer was a good source of this resource.
Until 1935 the village centre was split into two villages, Zoetermeer and Zegwaard. The standard of living at the time was said to be higher in Zoetermeer than in Zegwaard[citation needed]. Seghwaert, an older way of spelling of Zegwaard, is now the name of a neighbourhood outside the old village centre.
Actively explore Drenthe
Thanks to the beautiful, varied natural landscapes, there are lots of activities in Drenthe. How about a canoe or a survival tour in the forests? Drenthe also has a number of great cities, including Assen, Emmen, and old Coevorden. There are great activities available here, too, such as Wildlands Adventure Zoo Emmen and TT Assen.

BEST PLACES TO SEE in the Netherlands | Van Life Travel Vlog
Hello 👋
We are Lou & Sylw 👍
Earlier this year we bought and self-converted a Citroen Relay to travel around the UK & Europe full-time with our 3 dogs (Rocks, Bella & Lola). 🚐🐶
At the end of our last travel film in Wales. I told the viewers that I was about to bury Sylw on Snowdon. I succeeded with the burial and headed towards Harwich to board a ferry alone with our 3 dogs to the Netherlands 😂 🇳🇱 ⛏
During my 1 week road trip around the Netherlands. I visited the famous windmills at Kinderdijk and Zaanse Schans. The bustling city of Rotterdam and its harbour. The historical city of Delft. The Hoge National Park and the magical Castle De Haar 🏰
Unfortunately, Sylw did manage to wiggle free from her burial and she will be back in our next travel film in her home country of Poland! 🇵🇱
Please let us know what you think of our short film in the comment section below and we will get back to you as soon as possible. if you would like to see more of our travels then please do subscribe and leave us a thumbs up. 👍
Any questions on the van or any of the places we visited on this video then please do not hesitate to message us. You can find us on Instagram at @louandsylw or you can leave a comment below! 🙌

The nature in Drenthe in the Netherlands is beautiful. There are many big forests with a rich variety of animals and sunsets and sunrises that will leave many speechless.

What to expect of tranquil DRENTHE - The Netherlands
The province of Drenthe in The Netherlands is loved for its untouched nature, beauty and tranquillity. The tens of kilometres of walking trails and bike paths lead through open landscapes, peat bogs, moors, forests and more. The purple heather can be admired from late July to early September. The tulips bloom from end of March to mid-May.
I highly recommend Dwingelderveld National Park (the largest continuous wet heathland area in Western Europe) and also Transit Camp Westerbork. Over 100,000 Jews, Sinti and Roma were deported from this camp during WWII. The camp grounds are freely accessible and a few original structures still remain.

Drenthe- Dolmens, Hunebedden, Huge Prehistoric Gravesites & More
New Amsterdam Travel Video- Drenthe is a Dutch province in the northeast part of the Netherlands with a nice mix of culture, history and nature. It's most spectacular attractions are the 54 dolmens (hunebedden, in Dutch) which dot the countryside. Dolmens are huge, ancient stone burial grounds, that survived over 5,000 years. (They resemble mini- Stonehenges) Many are clustered around highway N34 but with the help of a map we biked to a few closer to our vacation house near Assen. In Assen, you can visit the Drenths Museum and in Emmen you cannot miss the amazing Wildlands Animal Park. There are also 3 national parks- perfect for hiking and biking; and a and unusual lake with a bright, aqua color.
