How Traditional French Camembert Is Made | Regional Eats
Sweet and creamy, Camembert holds a special place in the heart of cheese lovers. The iconic cheese originated in the northern French region of Normandy, where it has been made for centuries. Today, France makes 360 million wheels of Camembert each year. We visited Le 5 Frères, a family-run farm in the village of Bermonville that makes Camembert following the traditional recipe using raw milk and ladles it into molds by hand.

==== A land of horses and history ====
Lamballe is a home to the arts and one of Brittany’s historic towns, with its little streets and alleyways laid out across the slopes of Saint-Sauveur hill. In the heart of cattle-breeding territory, slightly inland from the Penthièvre coast, its other claim to fame to its National Stud, set in the town centre.
==== Down through the centuries ====
There are reminders of the town’s rich trading history in the half-timbered houses in the historic town centre, and the 18th century private mansions. Set off from the impressive collegiate church of Notre-Dame and walk down towards Place du Martray, which is lined with half-timbered houses. You can see many different styles in their facades. One of the houses, the 15th century ‘Maison du Bourreau’ (Executioner’s House), is especially beautiful. This building, with its eye-catching ‘ox blood’ coloured timbers, is now home to the Mathurin Méheut Museum.
==== Discover arts and crafts ====
Many historic buildings have been converted into exhibition spaces and craft workshops. Pottery and sculpture have a special niche, continuing a tradition that has thrived because of the clay subsoil in the surrounding moorlands. You can find out more about these craft skills as you continue on your way towards the stud
==== The Breton Postiers stud ====
The National Stud sits on a carefully-tended, flower-filled estate covering six hectares, and brings together equestrian tradition with the future of horse. This is the land of the sturdy Breton Postier, a breed that made a name for itself as a coach-horse. The stud was founded in 1825 and includes a series of superb buildings where nearly 400 stallions are stabled. During your visit you’ll be taken to see 12 stables, the blacksmith’s forge, the main tack-room and much more. There are live displays, carriage driving demonstrations and various exhibitions, all celebrating the world of the horse
==== Discover heritage and nature ====
As you’d expect, there’s a lot of emphasis on horse-riding around here. The Lamballe-Trégomar circuit is a favourite with riders. But these routes are also ideal for walkers and cyclists. They take you out across the valleys, to the manor houses and the Château de La Touche with its gardens – including a rose garden and one filled with azaleas. The circuit then takes you around the lake at La Ville Gaudu and over the Lande des Potiers moors. Going along the river Gouessant, you come across several wash houses. On the Mont Bel-Air mountain pass, the paths climb to an altitude of 336 metres, high above Saint-Brieuc bay. It’s a real pleasure for anyone who loves nature and the great outdoors.

Amazing winter colours : 1 day in medieval Auray, France 🇫🇷
Hello, while visiting the family in Brittany, France, today, we spent the day in beautiful and medieval Auray. The winter colours were amazing !
Auray, a medieval city of character and home to the port of Saint-Goustan
Nestled in the hollow of the Auray River, this medieval city of character seduces at first sight with its lively city centre and the port of Saint-Goustan. Despite the passing of centuries, the historic narrow still retain their former charm.
Major events take place all year round at Auray, such as Thursdays at the port in summer, water sports, the craft market or Christmas activities. Every Monday, the mythical market in the city centre is a must-see for the holidays to discover local products.
The city of Auray is an ideal place to wander through its lanes and discover the workshops and art galleries as well as to go shopping with friends.

Chemin des lavoirs // Old wash houses // Lamballe Armor // Costarmoricaine 🇫🇷
Chemin des lavoirs // Old wash houses // Chemin // Lavoirs // Wash houses 🇫🇷
The first wash houses were erected from the late eighteenth century. But it was not really until the nineteenth century that the construction of laundries in Lamballe took off for both private laundries for those audiences. The law of February 1857 contributed greatly to the creation of laundries in the city. In fact the first half of the century was marked by series of epidemics that greatly touched the Costarmoricaine population. To counter the disease waves, a hygiene committee was formed to organize actions in public. This committee over the law on the creation of subsidized washing fall within the hygienist current that crossed Europe in the nineteenth century and has allowed the emergence of health conditions we experience.
The story of the washing of Lamballe remains relatively obscure; Indeed laundries being reserved for popular use and not being bridges, little information is received until today. However some court documents show the presence and wash houses built on Lamballe. Car wash houses located on the Gouessant were subjects of recurring complaints among owners, and have been the subject of numerous decrees modification or destruction following the opinions of Civil Engineers and shod. Many plans and administrative documents concerning the laundries are available in the departmental archives of the Côtes d'Armor Saint-Brieuc.
