The area is full of state parks. The most famous is the Everglades. It’s one of the most biodiverse places on Earth with its multiple biomes. You can also see the coral reefs at John Pennekamp State Park or feel like a geologist at Windley Key.
Key Largo has also found other ways to protect its biodiversity. The National Marine Sanctuary holds its reefs and the animals within. The Wild Bird Rehabilitation Center protects birds that can’t fly away back into the wild.
Key Largo has all the gorgeous beaches you can dream of. Harry Harris is great for small groups of family or friends. Annie’s Beach is small but relaxing. You can also travel to the nearby island of Islamadora if you need even more time in the sun and sand.
If you get hungry in Key Largo, get a conch at The Pilot House or party at the famous Mile Marker 88. You can even give some of it back to the fish if you eat at Robbie’s and feed the tarpons there.
If you’re a new visitor, go get a bit of instruction in Key Largo’s favorite activities. You can learn paddleboarding and a range of other activities at PADDLE! Snorkel Key Largo will guide you to its best diving spots.
A ride on the African Queen is a great way to see the area, especially if you’ve seen the movie it was featured in. You can also travel the Overseas Heritage Trail to see everything from above.

10 Cheapest Places to live in California.
10 Cheapest Places to live in California.
Buying a house can be hard. If you are thinking about California and don't need to be in one of the major cities, this list is for you.
Nobody wants a giant mortgage but in most of California, that is what you are going to get.
If you enjoy these videos I would love to hear about it. Most of these videos are made to help people who are thinking about relocating, looking for real estate, or just wanting to learn about the United States. We look at the best and worst cities, states, towns, and neighborhoods in the United States. But, most of the time focus on the negative side of locations. If you only want some happy positive information about a city, town, or state, I would suggest looking up local mortgage and real estate companies or maybe the locations website. They are trying to sell you something so it will be nothing but sunshine, rainbows, and a bunch of smoke up your skirt. They won't tell you about crime, poverty, bail bondsmen, or insurance you'll need because of natural disasters. I will. And I will try and make it entertaining.

San Diego to Los Angeles Drive - 15 Beautiful Stops
#sandiego #californiaroadtrip #sandiegocounty
Planning a road trip from San Diego to LA? In this video, we’re going to highlight some of our favorite stops on the San Diego to Los Angeles drive.
Making the drive from Los Angeles to San Diego? Simply reverse the order of these suggestions.
Balboa Park is a 1,200-acre sprawling city park with beautiful Mediterranean and Spanish architecture and close to 20 museums to visit.
Traveling with kids? Grab a copy of our Balboa Park Scavenger Hunt for Kids -
La Jolla is known as the jewel of San Diego. There are plenty of opportunities for enjoying all of the beauty La Jolla has to offer. Rent a kayak, go snorkeling, explore a sea cave, take a coastal stroll, or hang out with the locals. With water so clear, the tidepools in La Jolla are a must.
Not too far down the road from La Jolla is Gliderport in Torrey Pines, Southern California's premiere site for paragliding and hang gliding. Call the day you’re planning to visit to see if they’ll be flying, as flights are dependent on the weather and wind speeds.
Next, head to Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve. Go for a hike on one of the many trails and take in views of the rare Torrey pine and maritime chaparral, along with miles of unspoiled beaches and a lagoon that is vital to migrating seabirds.
Traveling with kids? Grab a copy of our Torrey Pines Scavenger Hunt for Kids -
Further up the coast, you’ll find calming meditation gardens tucked away at the Self-Realization Fellowship in Encinitas. These internationally renowned gardens feature plenty of spots for you to pause, reflect, and meditate.
Some of our favorite things to do in the beachside town of San Clemente are to walk the beach trail, go out on the pier, or catch the train for a ride along the coast. The sunsets can be pretty spectacular here, too!
Dana Point is a great location to head out for a whale watching tour. The tidepools at the beach behind the Ocean Institute in the Dana Point Harbor provide a great opportunity for discovering local marine-life.
Another way to view local wildlife is to visit the Dana Point Headlands Conservation Area. This area contains over 150 species of plants and animals that are native to coastal Southern California.
Mission San Juan Capistrano is known as the Jewel of the California Missions. This mission was founded in 1776 as the 7th of 21 total missions found throughout the state.
Treasure Island Park is one of our favorite places in Laguna. The views here are unrivaled. If time permits, head to Victoria Beach next door to lay eyes on the distinctive Pirate Tower.
Another favorite destination of ours in Laguna is Crescent Bay Beach. We consider this to be one of the premier locations in Laguna for tidepooling. Make sure you visit when the tide is low, less than 1.5 feet is preferred. When visiting the tidepools be very aware of your surroundings and watch your step. Simply observe and do not disrupt this fragile marine habitat.
Crystal Cove State Park offers 3.2 miles of beach and 2,400 acres of backcountry wilderness for hiking. Other great features include fun little caves to explore and unique rock formations.
Traveling with kids? Grab a copy of our Crystal Cove State Park Scavenger Hunt for Kids -
Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve is a 1,300-acre coastal estuary in Huntington Beach. Over 200 species of birds have been identified in the variety of habitats here.
Rancho Pales Verdes is a coastal city just south of the city of Los Angeles, atop the bluffs of the Palos Verdes Peninsula, and a little off the beaten path. Main highlights include miles of coastal walking trails and the Point Vicente Lighthouse and its accompanying Interpretive Center. The Wayfarers Chapel, designed by architect Lloyd Wright, son of Frank Lloyd Wright, is an architectural masterpiece and one of the world's most beautiful and evocative Organic Modern designs.
UPDATE: The Wayfarers Chapel & Grounds are closed to the public until further notice, as they had to disassemble the iconic structure to save it from landslide destruction.
Our final recommended stop requires a detour… and a boat ride, or a helicopter ride if you’re feeling super adventurous. Catalina Island lies 22 miles of the mainland and is the perfect Southern California day trip… or truthfully, it’s a vacation in and of itself!
Traveling with kids? Get your hands on a copy of our San Diego with Kids Planning Guide: and get to planning your fun-filled family trip to America's Finest City!

People who enjoy culture can take a stroll around Millennium Park and the Loop to admire outdoor artwork (such as the iconic Bean), visit renowned museums like the Art Institute of Chicago, or take a cruise on the Chicago River to view cutting-edge architectural wonders. When Sinatra visited Chicago in the middle of the 20th century, it may have been a toddling town, but it has grown into a world-class adult city with music, art, food, culture, and sports. In fact, Chicago has won Condé Nast Traveler's Readers' Choice Awards for finest large US city for a number of years running. There are unforgettable things for you to see and do no matter what your interests are. The city's first-rate public transportation infrastructure, Divvy bike share program, and easily accessible lakefront route make getting about Chicago simple. Hike #73: Marshall Canyon: San Gabriel Valley, La Verne, CA (Regular Version)
Visit Date: 1/30/22.
Hiking Marshall Canyon: San Gabriel Valley, La Verne, CA.
Every now and then, I enjoy going back to my hiking roots to revisit locations of early hiking adventures. My first visit to Marshall Canyon was about 25 years ago. It is a comforting feeling to go back again from time to time to relive the feelings of exploration that began to sprout at a younger age. It is also a blessing that the area had not been burned over the years, thus retaining the visual familiarity every time. So whenever feeling low or in need of a recharge, a good friend is always nearby to assist me with my hiking needs. This was a good day for a re-visit!
