Join us as we move on from the mountains to the lakes as part of our early retirement adventure in our VW Campervan. We discover and spend the night at possibly the most beautiful and deserted mountain lake in the French Alps and then head off to one of the most popular lakeside holiday locations the region has to offer. More hiking, cycling, wild swimming and exploring the places off the beaten track.
We are Richard and Jackie and we live in the UK. We have chosen to early retire from teaching during the summer of 2022 at the age of 51. We are currently on a 3 week trip to the Alps, with no plans just our desire to find the hidden wild places.
You will soon realise that we are complete YouTube beginners with all the challenges of creating and publishing videos ahead of us, not to mention uploading when on the road.

Annecy and the Haute Savoie
I love Lake Annecy - its so beautiful, especially in Spring and Autumn when the historic town centre is less crowded. There's lots to see in the surrounding area too - within an hour or so's drive you can easily explore Geneva, Evian, Yvoires and Chamonix. Lake Annecy and Doussard 2020
In 2020 my family went to Lake Annecy and stayed in an air bnb in Doussard. We did day trips around the lake to La Tournette, Cascade d'Angon (which are both shown in the video), Val-d'Isère and Annecy town. If you're going there on holiday, double the amount of time you plan to spend there. Trust me! It's the right call.
