Playa del Carmen, MEXICO: why you must visit

Playa del Carmen is a charming beach community in Mexico, well-known for its laid-back atmosphere. In addition to enjoying the beach, you can see cenotes (freshwater sinkholes) nearby, go for a stroll on the touristy Quinta Avenida (Fifth Avenue), and obviously, enjoy the fantastic Mexican food.

But can you do that without breaking the bank? As prices in Playa are sometimes in dollars, you quickly realize that many things mainly cater to foreign tourists. And yes, you absolutely can. And you can have a great time.

► WHO AM I?

I am a Brazilian-American journalist living in Florida. After traveling the world working with sports, news, and events for over 15 years, I realized that what I really love is the travel part of it all. So I exchanged life in the newsrooms and stadiums for the daily challenge of being an independent content producer. I created this channel to share the beauties of the world... stuff that for so long I only kept to myself. Also to help people planning similar trips and to inspire more people to venture out and enjoy life!

P.S.: The funny guy who appears in the vlogs is my husband, Gordon. He is Canadian-American and he's actually camera-shy, that's why he's behind the camera most of the time 😉

This is Mexico City!? Here's why Condesa, Roma Norte and Juarez will surprise you

La Condesa and Roma Norte are among Mexico City's most charming neighborhoods. Here you find a lot of parks, historical constructions, nice cafes and restaurants. And in Juarez are 2 of the most sought-after places for Instagram pictures in CDMX: the Wings of Mexico and the Angel of Independence.

After starting with chilaquiles, a typical Mexican breakfast sandwich, we spent the whole day walking from La Condesa to Juarez via Roma Norte in hopes of burning some calories.

Also to help people planning similar trips and to inspire more people to venture out and enjoy life!

P.S.: The funny guy who appears in the vlogs is my husband, Gordon. He is Canadian-American and he's actually camera-shy, that's why he's behind the camera most of the time 😉

MEXICO CITY SIGHTSEEING AND EATING // MEXICO TRAVEL VLOG

Mexico City does not have the best reputation as far as safety goes, but how safe is it to visit Ciudad de México in 2022? In today's vlog we will talk about how safe we felt walking around Mexico City while we tour this bustling city! There is so much to see in Mexico City and the best thing is many of the big tourist attractions are located in a small area downtown, making it a really accessible place to explore on foot. We were able to visit Santo Domingo Plaza (Plaza de Santo Domingo México), Mexico City Congress (Congresso de la Ciudad de México), Mexico City Post Office (Correo Mayor), the Zócalo (Mexico City's main square), The Opera House (Palacio de las Bellas Artes México City), and took in the incredible views from the Sears building (yep... the Sears building). Importantly, we also tried local (and super affordable) street food while we led ourselves on a tour around the city!

In this video we do our best to share a bit about Mexico City as we explore. The establishment of Mexico City comes with such an incredible story, and learning about it helped us understand why the city was built on unstable land that has led Mexico City to be continuously sinking! Tune into today's travel vlog to learn more about this interesting fact!

======================

Hey there! We are Nicole and Mico, full-time travel vloggers searching for adventures all around the globe. In March 2021 we quit our jobs, sold our belongings, and hopped on our first ever one-way flight leaving our home country #Canada. We believe #travel builds understanding that reaches across culture, language, and boundaries, and we want to share our experiences as we create connections all over the world. If you like learning about unique places, new cultures and different foods, then come follow our adventure as we explore all our beautiful planet has to offer.

Our First Stop in Mexico - We Almost Didn't Leave Mazatlán

We've barely made it into Mexico and we're already in love. Mazatlán has been so amazing that we truly don't want to leave this Mexican oasis! Mazatlán is just a few hundred miles from the USA border, and is our first long stop on our road trip from Canada all the way through Central America with our dog, Evie. We originally planned to be here for just a week or so, but three weeks later, we are still loving it.

In this video, we start our day of exploring in the Central area (Centro Historico) which is a gorgeous spot filled with restaurants and little shops aimed at tourists. Nearby is the Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception which we took a look at from outside, because what visit to a Latin American city is incomplete without a quick visit to a holy sight? Lucky for us, nearby the cathedral is Mercado Pino Suarez, or Pino Suarez Market. This market has just about anything you could want, and Evie absolutely loved all the smells she was able to find hiding in every corner of this market. The main level has butchers, flower shops, souvenir spots, and desert merchants, and upstairs is filled with all things Mexican food!

For lunch we got ourselves some proper Mexican food with Evie at our feet hoping we would drop something. Mico actually ordered a breakfast dish of eggs, chorizo, and beans, and I was able to try tostadas for the first time. Oh my goodness were our meals amazing!! Trying Mexican food in Mexico is such a treat, and we are hoping we will learn more about Mexican food as we continue our journey south through the rest of Mexico in the months to come.

After lunch we had the unfortunate experience of finding one of the few places in Mexico that doesn't allow dogs - El Faro Lighthouse. We had read online that it was okay to bring dogs, but evidently that is wrong because we were told we wouldn't be able to walk up to the lighthouse with Evie in tow. So, we went back the next day without her and made the short journey to the top of El Faro to get spectacular views of Mazatlán from above.

Mazatlán is a coastal city with an incredible malecón (boardwalk). The boardwalk covers 21 kilometers of coast and was made for pedestrians, bikers, and shop keepers to enjoy the beauty of the coast. With the beach right below, this boardwalk is easily one of our favourite things about Mazatlán. If we were to ever move to Mexico permanently, this boardwalk would definitely put Mazatlán on our list of potential cities to live in!

Canon del Sumidero Chiapas Mexico (BEST DAY)

Put El Canon de Sumidero Chiapas Mexico at the top of your what to do in Chiapas Mexico list!

Canon del Sumidero or Sumidero Canyon is one of the best things to do in Chiapas. We took the best tour in San Cristobal de Las Casas to Canon del Sumidero for 400 pesos, around $20 USD. It included transport, the boat tour of Sumidero Canyon, Canon del Sumidero Miradors, and a short stop in the Pueblo Magico Chiapa De Corzo.

Chiapas Mexico is filled with so much natural beauty, and the Canon del Sumidero tops the list! When you travel Mexico you must visit Chiapas and Sumidero Canyon! It’s one of the best things to do in Chiapas!
