Head to the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts for a look at some of the free current exhibitions. We're here at Park Mount Royal to walk around and head to the lookout point for amazing city views. We chose to stay in the neighborhood of Le Plateau-Mont Royal. On Sunday afternoons you'll find a huge drumming circle on the east end of Mount Royal called Tam Tams. McGill University is one of the most prestigious universities in all of Canada. Poutine, a French Canadian dish, it is basically french fries with gravy and cheese curds on top. For a taste of French charm, wander down the cobbled streets of Old Montreal. Tonight we're at the Cirque du Soleil for a circus performance. The biodome is a popular attraction for families with children. Olympic Stadium is the former home of the Montreal Expos. The botanical gardens are home to beautiful gardens. Bell Center is home to the Montreal Canadiens, one of the most celebrated NHL franchises. There is no better place ot eat smoked meat in Montreal than Schwartz. The Notre Dame Basilica is located in the historic district of Old Montreal. If you enjoy checking out graffiti around Saint Catherine street which is also a shopping district. If you’re looking for the perfect summer getaway (or day trip!) destination just outside of Montreal, then you need to explore Lanaudière. Located approx 1 hour outside of Montreal, this region has soooo much to see and do, and is just so pretty 🥹.
Here you’ll find charming towns, heritage buildings, lush nature, historic sights, and a true peaceful escape.
Here’s a mini guide to some of my favourite activities to do in the Lanaudière region, which includes everything in the video and more!
1. Spend the day strolling and picnicking at the stunning Jardins de la Maison Antoine-Lacombe. We just loved it here, it’s so gorgeous! 🧺
2. Rent canoes go for a relaxing paddle at Parc de la Rivière du Groupe Plein Air Terrebonne 🛶
3. Explore the charming and historic îles-des-Moulins
4. Admire the art at the Musée d’art de Joliette, one of Quebec’s largest art museums!
5. Grab some homemade chocolates or ice cream at Choco Chocolat 🍫 🍦
6. Dine at Restaurant TABOO Cuisine Rebelle, a restaurant that specializes in mini burgers, tartares, and poutines. They have over 180 different combinations on their menu 🤯
7. If you’re spending the night in the region, stay at l’Hôtel Chateau Joliette, a lovely hotel with a stunning view of the l’Assomption river.
8. Have coffee and a light breakfast at Brûlerie du Roy - an adorable cafe that offers fair trade beans from around the world and roasts them in house! ☕️
9. Visit the Moulin Grenier, a windmill that was built in 1820 and is now classified as a historic monument!
10. Then pop over for a pizza dinner at La Piazetta 🍕
