Walking streets | Leningradskaya street, Samara, Russia

Welcome to Russia Walking tour. Today is 26 of September 2021.

Galaktionovskaya street 00:00
Leningradskaya street 00:10
Maybe Leningradskaya Street is not the most beautiful and interesting in Samara (it is definitely inferior to the same Kuibyshev Street), but visiting the main pedestrian street of the city is a must have for any tourist. By the way, not the whole street is pedestrian, only a small section is blocked, which can be easily walked in 15 - 20 minutes. It starts from the stele in honor of the founding of the Samara province. From an architectural point of view, there is something to see on the pedestrian Leningradskaya: Pokidyshev's house, restored and free from inappropriate advertising, Zhukov's estate, autographed by the owner, Nuychev's Art Nouveau house with original sculptures on the facade, and much more. But as an analogue of the Arbat, the street is not impressive: no interesting shops or good restaurants were found. For restaurants, it is definitely better to go to Kuibyshev Street, local history literature and albums around the city are best bought in an art museum, some of the souvenirs can be purchased in Sambook (but the price tag there is not the most tasty). And I took local sweets (by the way, very tasty) in the company store on Leningradskaya, but not in the pedestrian part, but not far from the embankment. The only thing that I definitely liked from the Arbat attributes was the evening performances of local musicians.

«Yunost'» (Юность) Shopping Mall 01:11
It is a pity that the building is in disrepair. In the city center, I really want to see as much of the restored beauty of the old city in the great country as possible.

Molodogvardeyskaya street 02:00
Molodogvardeyskaya Street is one of the longest city highways in Samara. Numerous institutions, educational institutions and attractions are located here. It connects the so-called Molodogvardeisky descent to the bank of the Samara River with Kuibyshev Square.
The street has been known since the beginning of the 19th century, when it adjoined the Sennoy market, located nearby and, accordingly, was called Sennaya. In the middle of the 19th century, when Samara acquired the status of a provincial city, the name of the street changed - it became known as Cathedral. After the cathedral was destroyed in 1923, the street name changed again and it became Cooperative. It acquired its modern name only after the war - in 1948. On the 30th anniversary of the Komsomol in memory of the underground anti-fascist organization Young Guard, which operated during the war in the city of Krasnodon.

Str. Molodogvardeyskaya, 78. House of A.I. Grebezhev 02:35
Opposite «Yunost'» Shopping Mall on Molodogvardeyskaya street there are old houses with beautiful decor of facades. No. 78 - the house of A. I. Grebezhev, built in 1907 according to the project of the engineer F. A. Chernomorchenko. It was listed as an object of cultural heritage (architectural monument) of regional significance, and it may still be on the list.

Leningradskaya street 03:20
Uncle Styopa, a statue by Zurab Tsereteli 03:35
It is also appreciated in different ways, but the parts of the sculpture that have been rubbed to a shine and the constant gathering of children, living, not bronze, confirm that they fell in love with Uncle Styopa (Дядя Стёпа).

Frunze street 07:45
The street is located at the intersection of Shostakovich, Pionerskaya, Krasnoarmeyskaya, Ventsek, Komsomolskaya, Lev Tolstoy, Nekrasovskaya and Leningradskaya streets. It is also adjacent to Chapaev Square.
The street contains a huge number of various significant buildings, houses and structures that took part in many historical events in Samara.
Most of the buildings were made in the architectural style of Art Nouveau, among them: the former circus Olympus, and now the reconstructed premises of the State Philharmonic Society; hotel Zhiguli, a building that was previously called Grand Hotel and Kurlina's Mansion.

Leningradskaya street 08:30
Kuibyshev Street 10:05
It is the main street of the historical part of Samara. At different times, the street had different names - Kazachya, Khlebnaya, Glavnaya, Dvoryanskaya. Since 1918 - Soviet, since 1935 - Kuibyshev.

The city of Samara was founded in May 1586 by the decree of Tsar Fyodor Ioannovich 10:35

Leningradskaya street 11:15
Descent to the Volga 13:10
Volga river embankment. Maxim Gorky street 16:45
Maxim Gorky Street runs through the Samara and Leninsky districts of the city of Samara. The former Volga River Embankment, on December 4, 1928, was renamed in honor of the writer Alexei Maksimovich Gorky (Gorky's real name is Peshkov, years of life: 1868-1936).
