Walking Tour: Krapina, Croatia - 4K UHD Virtual Travel
Krapina is town in northern Croatia best known for its Neanderthal excavation site which was discovered by Croatian archeologist Dragutin Gorjanović Kramberger in the late 19th century. There is a large museum in Krapina called Krapina Neanderthal Museum (Muzej krapinskih neandertalaca) which explores the chronological evolution of humans, with a focus on the Neanderthal period and is definitely worth a visit. Krapina is also the administrative center of Hrvatsko Zagorje - a nice hilly Croatian region which sits on the crossings of three great geological areas: The Alps, The Pannonian Basin and The Dinaric Alps. This region is rich in thermal water springs and one of its biggest spa facilities can be found near Krapina in a small town called Krapinske Toplice , which literally means Krapina Spa. :)

The Pearl or Zagorje, or Biser Zagorja, Croatia, is an area of three neighboring municipalities - Tuhelj, Klanjec and Veliko Trgovišće, located in the southwest of Bajka na dlanu - Zagorje. Ever since its opening on February 27, 2010, the Krapina Neanderthal Museum has been attracting attention of visitors, not only due to the intriguing notion of NEANDERTHAL S in its name, but surely also due to its specific ways of presenting the topic. Authors of the project and its realisation, palaeontologist Jakov Radovčić and architect Željko Kovačić, worked to bring us a better understanding of the people of Krapina from the Stone Age, who lived in this area 125,000 years ago. The exhibition is set up as a time machine through the history of the Universe, the Earth and Man, leading up to the present day, and lays special emphasis on the Neanderthal period.

Die Stadt Varaždin befindet sich im nordwestlichen Teil Kroatiens und liegt am rechten Drauufer. Die Höhe der Stadt über dem Meeresspiegel variiert zwischen 169 und 173 Meter. Geografische Daten: 16°20’16” östliche Länge und 46°18’30” nördliche Breite. Die durchschnittliche Jahrestemperatur beträgt 10 °C, und die Durchschnittsfeuchtigkeit liegt bei 78 %. Die Stadt erstreckt sich unweit des Flusses Drau in einer fruchtbaren alluvialen Ebene, die sich in Richtung Südwesten-Nordosten zum Fluss hin absenkt. Im Süden wird die Ebene allmählich durch die Berge Haloze und Varaždinsko-toplička gora abgelöst. Durch ihre geographische Lage bedingt, grenzt sie an die Regionen Steiermark, Međimurje, Zagorje und Obere Podravina.
Varaždin hat rund 50.000 Einwohner und ist kulturelles, schulisches, wirtschaftliches, sportliches und touristisches Zentrum Nordwestkroatiens. Die Stadt bekam elfmal die Auszeichnung „Zeleni cvijet“ (Grüne Blume) als die gepflegteste Stadt im kontinentalen Kroatien verliehen.
