Kingaroy Town Peanut Capital of Australia Ultimate Holiday Guide – Explore Queensland
If you're a fan of peanuts, then you'll love Kingaroy! This small town in Queensland is known as the Peanut Capital of Australia, and it's easy to see why. Peanuts are grown in the area and used in a variety of products, including peanut butter, peanut brittle, and even peanut ice cream. There are a number of peanut farms in the area, as well as a peanut processing plant. The town even has a peanut festival, which is held each year in October. During the festival, there are a number of events, including a peanut shelling competition, a peanut cooking competition, and a parade. KINGAROY & NANANGO I South Burnett Region, Queensland, Australia, Travel Vlog 108, 2022
KINGAROY & NANANGO
This week we drive to the South Burnett region - a very scenic area of Queensland that we've never visited before. The day starts with a drive to Nanango (via the sleepy little town of Linville). Nanango is Queensland’s fourth oldest town and has plenty of country charm. We have a delicious lunch at a local café before continuing our trip to Kingaroy.
Kingaroy is approximately 210 kilometres or about 2½ hours drive north-west of Brisbane. Kingaroy is known as the 'Peanut Capital of Australia'. During the 1980's it was one of Australia's best-known country towns because it was the home of the late Joh Bjelke-Petersen, the long time Premier of Queensland and one of the most controversial politicians of recent times. We visit 'The Big Peanut', the Peanut Van and the giant peanut silo's. We also pop into a local winery where we enjoy some local wine tasting. After a good nights sleep in a local motel, we have a quick bakery breakfast before a wander around town.

Hi, we're Beth & Paul from Brisbane, Australia and we love to travel!
Paul retired on 28th February 2020 and on the 1st March 2020, we set out on a 6-month adventure around South East Asia. This was a well-planned once-in-a-lifetime travel experience! It was our intention to show you how you can have a great time travelling without spending a fortune.
Our timing wasn't great - with the outbreak of the Covid-19 virus and subsequent global turmoil less than a month into our trip.
Until it is safe to travel internationally again, we turn our focus on travelling around Queensland and sharing everything our beautiful State has to offer!
Our videos are posted weekly 😊 (we aim for Thursdays).
