In diesem Video starten wir mit unserem Mercedes Vario 4x4 noch auf der armenischen Seite und fahren dann über die Grenze in den Iran. Zuerst geht es zur Stadt Khoy, wo wir uns mit Geld und SIM Karte eindecken. Dann fahren wir zum wunderschönen Salzsee Urmia. Von dort ist es nicht mehr weit bis zur Stadt Tabriz, bekannt für seinen riesigen Basar. Wir sind schwer beeindruckt von der Freundlichkeit der Menschen gerade in diesen schwierigen Zeiten im Iran. Natürlich müssen wir auch mal Diesel tanken, aber das ist im Iran gar nicht so leicht.
In this video we start with our Mercedes Vario 4x4 on the Armenian side and cross the border into Iran. First we visit Khoy city, where we get money and a SIM card. Then we drive to the amazing salt lake Urmia. From there it is not far away to Tabriz city, well known for its huge basar. We are deeply impressed by the hospitality of the people, especially in these challenging times in Iran. Of course we need diesel from time to time, but this is not so easy to get.

Khoy Bazaar is a huge bazaar from the Safavid period and the commercial center of that period in Azerbaijan, which is located on the eastern side of the city of Khoy. With more than 300 years of history, it still maintains its prosperity and is considered one of the most beautiful and geometric markets in the country. This market is registered in the list of national monuments.
Khoy Bazaar is located in the center of the city and according to the existing inscription that is kept in Khoy treasury, it was built during the reign of Shah Tahmasb and during the reign of Abbas Mirza Nayeb Al-Saltanah, it was invaded and occupied. One of the notable parts of this collection is that each of the orders is related to a certain job and is called by the same job, such as: blacksmith bazaar, burkchi bazaar, goldsmith bazaar, kharazi bazaar, Farshchi bazaar and… or named Charitable people who have played an effective role in the development of the bazaar, such as: Amir, Javad, Haji Baba and… have been famous, who still have old names.
The bazaar form has a rectangular plan that has been invaded and occupied in recent decades due to the renovation and expansion of Khoy city. The remnants of the bazaar existed during the Safavid period and later, especially most of its parts were built by order of Abbas Mirza Qajar and by Amir Ahmad Khan Danbali in the early Qajar period. This old bazaar, with its numerous caravanserais and four bazaars, is reminiscent of the prosperous economic days of the bazaar when the Silk Road (AIPAC Yuli) crossed the city.
Five beautiful caravanserais in the heart of this old covered bazaar have added to its prosperity. The presence of a stone gate with unique architecture in the south of this old market has made this building more and more spectacular for those who are interested in historical monuments.

خوی از شهرهای آذربایجان غربی است که در شمال غربیترین نقطهی ایران واقع شده است. خوی مهد تمدن چند هزار ساله و از کهنترین مراکز تمدن در ایران است که حوادث تاریخی زیادی را به خود دیده است. خوی از سه جهت با شهرهای سلماس، ماکو و مرند دارای مرز مشترک است. هممرز بودن با کشور ترکیه به همراه قرارگیری در مسیر جاده ابریشم از دیرباز اهمیت استراتژیکی بالایی به این شهر داده است. خوی دارای آب و هوایی کوهستانی است و تابستان هایی گرم و زمستان هایی بسیار سرد دارد. این شهر به دلیل داشتن مزارع وسیع آفتابگردان به شهر آفتابگردان ها معروف است. از جاذبههای تاریخی و طبیعی شهر میتوان بازار قدیمی خوی، مقبره آل یعقوب، منار شمس تبریزی، پل خاتون، مسجد مطلب خان، کلیسای سورپ سرگین، موزه گنجینه خوی، مقبره میرهادی و میر بهلول، دروازه سنگی، آبشار بدلان، رودخانه قطور، دژ بسطام را نام برد. تخمه آفتابگردان و عسل مرغوب از محصولات اصلی خوی است که میتواند رهآورد شهر باشد. صنایع دستی خوی شامل جاجیم بافی، قالی بافی، جل بافی، زیلوبافی، حصیربافی، فرش بافی، گلیم بافی، دست بافتهای پشمی و سفالگری میشود. زبان مردمان این سرزمین ترکی آذربایجانی است و عاشیقها، طلب باران، رسم ننه تپه، روز قوچ، آیین برداشت گندم، کوسا و سایاچی از آیینهای قدیمی منطقه است

Shams Tabrizi’s tomb in Khoy, beside a tower monument in a memorial park, has been nominated as a World Cultural Heritage Center by UNESCO. itto.org Shams Tabrizi (or Shams al-Din Mohammad) (1185–1248) was a Persian poet,who is credited as the spiritual instructor of Mewlana Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Balkhi, also known as Rumi (Mevlana or Mawlana) and is referenced with great reverence in Rumi's poetic collection, in particular Diwan-i Shams-i Tabrizi (The Works of Shams of Tabriz). According to contemporary Sufi tradition, Shams Tabrizi mysteriously disappeared: some say he was killed by close disciples of Mowlana Jalaluddin Rumi who were jealous of the close relationship between Rumi and Shams, but according to much certain evidence, he left Konya and died in Khoy where he was buried. read more on itto.org The tomb and its minarets are located in a garden surrounding the residence of Shams-ol-Moluk-e-Donbali in the northeast of the city of Khoy. There is a diversity concerning the origin of this minaret. Khoi city is the largest and most populous city in West Azarbaijan province, after the capital of the province, Urmia, and it is the second most populous city in West Azarbaijan province.
According to the census of 2016, the population of Khoi city is equal to 348,664 people, of which 198,845 people live in Khoi city.
Khoi is known as the city of sunflowers. This city is considered the first hub of sunflower and pumpkin seeds production in the country and owns the largest sunflower seed market in the country.
West Azerbaijan carpet is very popular in domestic and foreign markets, and among the hand-woven carpets produced in West Azerbaijan, small fish carpet has been registered nationally and internationally. The largest theater house in the northwest of the country is located in Khoi.
As one of the exchange crossroads between East and West, Khoi commercial area has had a significant presence in the economic history of Azerbaijan for a long time. In the past, this city was an economic center and due to its location on the famous commercial roads such as the Silk Road, Makkah Yuli, the Tarabozan-Jolfa road, it has many caravanserais, for the unloading of goods and rest for merchants, and a wide and extensive market for the trading of goods.
