Autumn Road Trip Drive With Music To Visit Kelty In Fife Scotland
Tour Scotland early Autumn travel video of a road trip drive, with Scottish bagpipes and drums music, on visit to Kelty in Fife. Kelty, Scottish Gaelic: Cailtidh, is a former coal mining village in the heart of the old mining heartlands of Fife. A settlement was established here by 1600, when Keltey appeared as a village on the line of the stagecoach road between Edinburgh, via the ferry, and Perth. Kelty is situated on the Fife and Perthshire boundary, next to the main Edinburgh to Perth road, the M90 motorway, and as a result of this has seen a large number of houses built primarily for commuters to Edinburgh over the past five years. To the East of Kelty is Loch Ore and, beyond, the villages of Ballingry and Lochore, while a little over a mile and a half to the South East is Cowdenbeath. The origin of the name of the village is somewhat obscure. It could come from the Scottish Gaelic coillte or coilltean meaning 'wood' or 'woodland' or it could come from the Gaelic cailtidh, a reduced form of the early Gaelic caleto-dubron, meaning hard water. In either case, it was probably originally a Pictish name that was later adapted to Gaelic. When driving in Scotland, slow down and enjoy the trip.
The surname Kelty was first found in Perthshire, Gaelic: Siorrachd Pheairt, former county in the present day Council Area of Perth and Kinross, located in central Scotland, where they held a family seat from very early times on the old lands of Keltie, near Callander. Kelty has appeared in many spellings including; Keltie, Kelty, Keltey and others.

Autumn Road Trip Drive With Music From Kelty To Kinross Perthshire Scotland
Tour Scotland early Autumn travel video of a road trip drive, with Scottish music, from Kelty, in Fife on the M90 motorway and and B996 road on ancestry, genealogy, history visit to Kinross, Perthshire. Kinross is located around 13 miles South of Perth and around 20 miles North West of Edinburgh. It is the traditional county town of the historic county of Kinross-shire. Andrew Barlass was born on September 30, 1822, in Kinross. He emigrated to the United States and settled in the town of Harmony, Rock County, Wisconsin. His post office address was the community of Emerald Grove. Barlass was a farmer and raised livestock. He served on the Harmony Town Board and was chairman of the town board. He also served on the school board and also served on the Rock County Board of Supervisors. Barlass also served as town assessor and justice of the peace. In 1874, 1875, and 1876, Barlass served in the Wisconsin State Assembly and was a Republican. Barlass was involved with the Free Soil Party before he joined the Republican Party. Barlass was involved with the Harmony town insurance company. Barlass died on July 26, 1895 of injuries after being kicked by a horse on his farm in the town of Harmony. When driving in Scotland, slow down and enjoy the trip
The Barlass surname is believed to be an Anglicized form of the Old French Barlier, once used to describe a fisherman who used an engine, probably a trawl or similar. The name was probably introduced into England in the 12th Century, and then re-introduced by the Huguenots after 1685. After this date the name appears in the records of the French Huguenot Churches in London, England. There are many spelling forms from Borlease and Borleace, to Barles, Borles, Burles and Barlace, although all are quite rare. Whilst first recorded in England for a time the name was claimed to be Scottish, however, the first such recording was one James Barles, of Cultmalundie, in 1670, whilst John Barless, of Foullis, is recorded in 1750. In England, examples include: Joane Barlease, who married Robert Coxon at the Church of St. Bartholomew the Less, London, on March 12th 1614; Elizabeth Barlas, who married John Smith at Epping, Essex, on March 28th 1789; whilst on October 21st 1804, Sarah Jane Barlass was christened at St. Ann's Church, Soho, London. The first recorded spelling of the family name is shown to be that of Edward Burles, which was dated June 30th 1558, a witness at the Church of St. Martin in the Fields, Westminster, London, during the reign of Queen Elizabeth 1.
