Anadolu Kavağı is located on the Anatolian coast of Istanbul towards Black Sea after passing ten kilometres of forest road in Beykoz.
Once a fishing village, it retains a village atmosphere and has many fish restaurants offering lunches for passengers on the longer Bosphorus cruises which usually terminate here.
Even if it is not as popular as other attraction sites of Istanbul, it continues to be a “go to” place for the ones that prefer to spend a day in peace
Although European side of Istanbul appears to be more amusing than the Asian side, there are wonderful sites like Anadolu Kavagi that makes Asian side as appealing
Anadolu is the Turkish name for Anatolia, and kavak meant control post in Ottoman Turkish, suggesting the strategic importance of its location.
It is directly across from Rumeli Kavağı, the Greek or European control post on the other side of the Bosphorus.
Anadolu Kavağı was originally called Hieron and was an important outpost for the Romans and the Byzantines.
The village's most prominent historic structures are a small mosque commissioned by Ali Pasha of Midilli (Lesbos) in 1593, and a fountain commissioned by Cevriye Hatun in 1785.
Ruinous Yoros Castle, an old Genoese fortress, stands on the hill above Anadolu Kavağı. From its walls there are fine views out towards the Third Bosphorus Bridge and the Black Sea.
How to get Anadolu Kavağı
Şehir Hatları, the city ferry company, offers sailings to and from Üsküdar and points in between.The twice-daily long Bosphorus ferry services leave Eminönü for Anadolu Kavağı, calling in at points en route including Sarıyer and Rumeli Kavağı on the European shore of the Bosphorus. (Bosphorus lines and full bosphorus tours) The village is also served by an hourly bus service from Üsküdar.

#istanbulvlog #istanbulcity #rumelikavagi Rumeli Kavağı , also known as Rumelikavagı, is a neighborhood of Sarıyer district in İstanbul Province, Turkey. The distance between Istanbul and Rumeli Kavağı is 21 km. The road distance is 28.6 km.
Rumeli is the Turkish name for Thrace, and Kavak means control post in Ottoman Turkish referring to the strategic position of the location on the Bosphorus.
Formerly, it was a small fishing village. In the 17th century, a castle was built to check Cossack naval assaults from the Black Sea. In 1877, during the Russo-Turkish War (1877-1878), a part of the immigrants from the Russian occupied provinces settled in Rumeli Kavağı. Up until the 1960s, most of Rumeli Kavağı was a restricted zone by military.
There are many places of interest in Rumeli Kavağı, such as ruins of medieval castles, mosques, churches, fountains, hamams etc.The Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge over the Bosphorus is to the north of the neighborhood.
Rumeli Kavağı is one of the districts preferred by Istanbulites for beach and sea, especially in summer. Rumeli Kavağı is also famous for its beautiful beaches. There are 4 beaches in Rumeli Kavağı. (Altınkum, Elmaskum, Family Beach, Military Beach)
How to get Rumeli Kavağı
The ferry journey time between Istanbul and Rumeli Kavağı is around 1h 35m and covers a distance of around 25 km. Operated by Şehir Hatları, the Istanbul to Rumeli Kavağı ferry service departs from Eminönü and arrives in Rumelikavağı. Typically 28 ferries run weekly, although weekend and holiday schedules can vary so check in advance.

Karacaören Village where the waterfall is located is 11km away from Salıpazarı District. The vegetation cover of the region forms forest areas and hazelnuts.
In the forest around the waterfall are the trees belonging to the Black Sea plant such as Beech, Alder, Hornbeam, Chestnut, Taflan. The drop of Karacaören Waterfall is about 85 meters and the amount of water varies seasonally.
