Johnstone Castle via Drone
Lovely wintery scene surrounding Johnstone Castle is a structure and former mansion in the town of Johnstone in Renfrewshire, Scotland. It belonged to the Houstouns of Milliken, who acquired the estate of Easter Cochrane in 1773.
Based right in the middle of Johnstone's housing scheme of the same name, taken by Paisley Buddie. He had a small issue with the freezing weather, Camera inside kept going unresponsive.

VANCOUVER ISLAND, BC, CANADA | 10 INCREDIBLE places to visit on Vancouver Island
Vancouver Island combines large forests, rugged landscapes, rocky mountain peaks, and mysterious coastlines. After living in this beautiful place for a combined 10 years, we’ll break down the 10 MOST INCREDIBLE places you have to visit on Vancouver Island (footage accumulated over the years):
10. Cameron Lake & Cathedral Grove
These are located near each other in central Vancouver Island, sitting between Parksville and Port Alberni. Cameron lake is a tranquil spot on the island with many other natural attractions in the area. Witness the old-growth giant trees at Cathedral Grove and more.
9. Goldstream Provincial Park
Located right outside of Victoria, Goldstream Provincial Park is a great spot for hiking, camping and connecting with nature. Explore the beautiful “Niagara” waterfall or do a challenging hike to the neighboring peak of Mount Finlayson.
❗NOTE: Goldstream Trestle has now been CLOSED to the public
8. Victoria
Sitting on the southern end, Victoria is the most popular and accessible destination on Vancouver Island. Within a 20-minute driving radius of the city, there are tons of things to do in Victoria. You can choose to explore the British colonial Downtown on foot, take a tour to the magnificent Butchart Gardens, see the stunning Hatley Castle, or explore the wildlife on a whale watching tour.
☑️ Book Whale Watching Tour:
7. Port Renfrew
The fishing village of Port Renfrew is another place you cannot miss on Vancouver Island! Also called Wild Renfrew, this area is known for its ancient rainforest, world-class hiking trails, and its stunning beaches.
6. Cowichan Valley
Cowichan Valley is another unique place to visit on Vancouver Island. Activities to enjoy here include hiking or biking Mount Tzouhalem, sipping wine at one of the idyllic vineyards, exploring the largest totem pole collection in Duncan, and seeing the sea lions in Cowichan Bay.
5. Lake Cowichan
Lake Cowichan is another amazing travel destination worth mentioning on its own. This freshwater lake is about 30 km or 18.6mi long and sits to the west of Duncan, in the Cowichan Valley.
4. Shawnigan Lake
Located about 40km north of Victoria at the southern edge of the Cowichan Valley, Shawnigan Lake is a popular place to vacation. The lake is 7km long and great for fishing, swimming, and sunbathing in the summer. But what we like the most in this area is hiking.
❗NOTE: The Quarry has now been CLOSED to the public
3. Sombrio & Mystic Beach
Mystic Beach has a beautiful waterfall that Cascades into the ocean, whereas Sombrio Beach has the best vibe for beach camping. Sombrio is a popular weekend getaway with friends or family during the summer and also offers some hidden waterfalls of its own.
2. Tofino & Ucluelet
Tofino and Ucluelet are both great destinations to get away and relax in nature on Vancouver Island! There is amazing hiking and surfing, and you will find the sandiest beaches on the island here! Our top pick of beaches include Cox Bay, Mackenzie Beach, Chesterman Beach, Long Beach, and Wickaninnish.
1. Strathcona Provincial Park
Located in the heart of the island, Strathcona Provincial Park has the purest nature, richest wildlife and most breathtaking scenery on all of Vancouver Island. Our top picks in the park include Landslide Lake, Myra Falls, and Cream Lake.

Places to see in ( Stonehaven - UK )
Places to see in ( Stonehaven - UK )
Stonehaven is a town in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. It lies on Scotland's northeast coast. After the demise of the town of Kincardine, which was gradually abandoned after the destruction of its royal castle in the Wars of Independence, the Scottish Parliament made Stonehaven the successor county town of Kincardineshire.
Stonehaven had grown around an Iron Age fishing village, now the Auld Toon (old town), and expanded inland from the seaside. As late as the 16th century, old maps indicate the town was called Stonehyve, Stonehive, Pont also adding the alternative Duniness. It is known informally to locals as Stoney. The town is served by Stonehaven railway station, and lies just to the east of the A90 road.
Stonehaven is the site of prehistoric events evidenced by finds at Fetteresso Castle and Neolithic pottery excavations from the Spurryhillock area. The Covenanters were imprisoned in Dunnottar Castle, where many died. A memorial to them can be found in Dunnottar Church. Other castles in the vicinity are Fetteresso Castle and Muchalls Castle, both of which are in private ownership and not open to the public. The oldest surviving structure in Stonehaven is the Stonehaven Tolbooth at the harbour, used as an early prison and now a museum.
Dunnottar Castle, perched atop a rocky outcrop, was home to the Keith family, and during the Scottish Wars of Independence, the Scottish Crown Jewels were hidden there. In 1296, King Edward I of England took the castle only for William Wallace to reclaim it in 1297, burning down the church in the process with the entire English garrison still in it. In 1650, Oliver Cromwell sacked the castle to find the Crown Jewels following an eight-month siege (having previously destroyed the English Crown Jewels). However, just before the castle fell, the Crown Jewels were smuggled out by some ladies who took them by boat to a small church just down the coast in the village of Kinneff, where they remained undetected for eleven years.
Stonehaven was a Jacobite town in the Fifteen and it was a safe base for the retreating Jacobite army to stay overnight on the night of 5–6 February 1716. In the Forty-Five Stonehaven, part of the Episcopalian north-east, was again ‘reliably Jacobite’ and it was one of the north-eastern ports where reinforcements, plus money and equipment were periodically landed from France.
Stonehaven is 15 miles (24 km) south of Aberdeen in a sheltered position on Stonehaven Bay between the Carron Water and the Cowie Water. Stonehaven lies adjacent to a deeply indented bay surrounded on three sides by higher land between Downie Point and Garron Point. The harbour, consisting of two basins, was improved in the 1820s by the engineer Robert Stevenson (grandfather of the author Robert Louis Stevenson) and became an important centre of the 19th century herring trade; the harbour is bordered on the north by Bellman's Head and at the south by Downie Point.
Stonehaven has three Churches of Scotland: Dunnottar Parish Church, Stonehaven South Parish Church and Fetteresso Parish Church, an evangelical Church of Scotland. The town is also home to City Church South, Stonehaven Baptist Church, St James' Episcopal Church and St Mary's Catholic Church.
Dunnottar Castle is a ruined medieval fortress located upon a rocky headland on the north-east coast of Scotland, about 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) south of Stonehaven. The surviving buildings are largely of the 15th and 16th centuries, but the site is believed to have been fortified in the Early Middle Ages. Dunnottar has played a prominent role in the history of Scotland through to the 18th-century Jacobite risings because of its strategic location and defensive strength. Dunnottar is best known as the place where the Honours of Scotland, the Scottish crown jewels, were hidden from Oliver Cromwell's invading army in the 17th century.

Old Photographs Johnstone Renfrewshire Scotland
Tour Scotland wee video of old photographs of Johnstone, Scottish Gaelic: Baile Iain, a town in the council area of Renfrewshire and larger historic county of the same name in the west central Lowlands. This Scottish town was a planned community created in the latter half of the 18th century by the local Laird, George Ludovic Houston who held an estate in the town, the remains of which are known as Johnstone Castle. Industrial development brought coal mining, thread-making and cotton weaving to Johnstone causing it to grow considerably in size, expanding out in the 1930s with a number of newly built residential areas which addressed the problem of population density in the historic area of the town. Today it supports a small commercial centre and serves as a commuter settlement for Paisley and Glasgow. Shanks Park in Johnstone is named after a leading industrialist of the nineteenth century who owned a company of heavy machine toolmakers, Thomas Shanks and Company. Thomas Shanks was Johnstone's first chief magistrate. Thomas's daughter, Mrs J Polson, gifted the park to the town in the name of her late father.

Ealing, a vibrant district located in West London, has a rich history that spans centuries and encompasses various aspects of art, culture, and governance. One of its notable landmarks is the renowned Ealing Studios, which played a pivotal role in shaping the British film industry. Additionally, the Ealing Town Hall stands as a prominent symbol of civic pride and heritage.
The history of Ealing can be traced back to the medieval era when it was a rural village known for its farming and agricultural activities. Over time, Ealing gradually evolved into a thriving community with the arrival of traders, artisans, and craftsmen.
In the 19th century, Ealing experienced significant growth and development with the advent of the Great Western Railway. The establishment of the railway station in 1838 enhanced transportation links, attracting residents and businesses to the area. Ealing became an attractive suburban retreat for wealthy Londoners seeking respite from the bustling city.
Ealing's association with the film industry began in 1902 when Will Barker established the Will Barker Studios, later known as Ealing Studios. The studio produced a wide range of films, including silent movies and early British talkies. However, it wasn't until the 1940s and 1950s that Ealing Studios gained international acclaim for its iconic comedies and dramas known as the Ealing Comedies. Films such as Kind Hearts and Coronets (1949) and The Lavender Hill Mob (1951) became classics, establishing Ealing Studios as a cornerstone of British cinema.
Ealing's Town Hall, an architectural gem, was inaugurated in 1888. Designed by architect Charles Jones, it stands as a testament to the town's civic pride and local governance. The elegant Victorian-style building features a clock tower and decorative stonework, adding grandeur to the town's landscape. The Town Hall served as a meeting place for the local council and hosted various events, including concerts and exhibitions.
During the 20th century, Ealing continued to grow and diversify. The town saw an influx of immigrants, particularly from Ireland and South Asia, contributing to its multicultural character. Today it has the highest Polish population in the Uk.
In recent years, Ealing has undergone further transformation, blending its historical charm with modern developments. The area is a popular residential choice for families and young professionals, boasting a mix of Victorian and Edwardian houses, as well as contemporary apartment complexes. Ealing's open spaces, such as Ealing Common and Walpole Park, provide residents with green havens amidst the urban landscape.
Today, Ealing remains a cultural hub with a thriving arts scene, hosting festivals, concerts, and community events. It embraces its cinematic legacy, with the Ealing Studios continuing to produce films and television shows.

Places to see in ( Perth - UK )
Places to see in ( Perth - UK )
Perth is a city in central Scotland, located on the banks of the River Tay. It is the administrative centre of Perth and Kinross council area and the historic county of Perthshire. Perth has been known as The Fair City since the publication of the story Fair Maid of Perth by Scottish writer Sir Walter Scott in 1828. During the later medieval period the city was also called St John's Toun or Saint Johnstoun by its inhabitants in reference to the main church dedicated to St John the Baptist. This name is preserved by the city's football team, St Johnstone F.C.
There has been a settlement at Perth since prehistoric times, on a natural mound raised slightly above the flood plain of the Tay, where the river could be crossed at low tide. The area surrounding the modern city is known to have been occupied since Mesolithic hunter-gatherers arrived more than 8000 years ago. Nearby Neolithic standing stones and circles also exist, dating from about 4000 BC, following the introduction of farming in the area.
The presence of Scone Abbey, home of the Stone of Destiny where the King of Scots was crowned, enhanced the early importance of the city. Perth became known as a 'capital' of Scotland, due to the frequent residence of the royal court. Royal Burgh status was soon given to the city by King William the Lion in the early 12th century. The city became one of the richest burghs in the country, doing trade with France, the Low Countries and Baltic Countries for goods such as Spanish silk and French wine. The Scottish Reformation also played a big role in the city with the sacking of the Houses of the Greyfriars and Blackfriars, after a sermon given by John Knox in St John's Kirk in 1559. The Act of Settlement later brought about Jacobite uprisings. The city was occupied by Jacobite supporters on three occasions (1689, 1715 and 1745). The founding of Perth Academy in 1760 helped to bring major industries, such as linen, leather, bleach and whisky, to the city. Given its location, Perth was perfectly placed to become a key transport centre with the coming of the railways, and its first station was built in 1848.
Today, Perth serves as a retail centre for the surrounding area. Following the decline of the whisky industry locally, the city's economy has now diversified to include insurance and banking. Due to its location, the city is often referred to as the Gateway to the Highlands. The Australian metropolis Perth took its name from the Scottish city. Perth is also twinned with Aschaffenburg in the German state of Bavaria.

On The Edge of the Devil's Beef Tub!
This video is about a walk in the winter near the Devil's Beef Tub near Moffat in Scotland, UK.
Wikipedia provides great information about this massive hollow. Here is a sample for those who like to know a bit of the background to climbs and places.
From Wiki: The Devil's Beef Tub, (Marquis of Annandale's Beef-Tub, Beef-Stand, MacCleran's Loup) is a deep, dramatic hollow in the hills north of the Scottish town of Moffat. The 500-foot (150 m) deep hollow is formed by four hills, Great Hill, Peat Knowe, Annanhead Hill, and Ericstane Hill. It is one of the two main sources of the River Annan. From Wiki: The unusual name derives from its use by the Border Reivers, namely the Johnstone clan, whose enemies referred to them as devils, to hide stolen cattle; it is also called Marquis of Annandale's Beef-Tub (or Beef-Stand) after the Lord of Annandale, chief of the raiding loons (here meaning lads, rather than lunatics); the name may also refer to the resemblance the valley bears to a tub used for preserving meat.[1][2]
