Hello,
This is the first episode of our Rajasthan road trip of 2500 Kms and the first Cities we visited are Jhunjhunu & Mandawa which are covered in this particular video.
We Reached Jhunjhunu driving straight about 410 Kms and first went to visit The Rani Sati Temple, the most popular Temple in Rajasthan.
This is place where people from all over the state come to worship their Godess Rani Sati.
Then we headed towards the town Mandawa which was about 30 Kms away from there.
After a long tiring journey, we reached our hotel where we booked the room. It was Hotel Shahi Palace, Mandawa.
We were so glad to see that the hotel was more than beautiful & the suite room was just amazing.
I must say its one of the best hotels to stay in Mandawa, Jhunjhunu that too in pocket friendly prices.
Best place to visit in Mandawa are its well known Havelis of the British period that belonged to Businessmen of that time.

The other best place to visit is The Rani Sati Temple itself.
This is the place for historians, art lovers, painting lovers and those who just wish to relax for a while.
Its full of paintings, art and besutiful architecture that needs atleast a visit if you love travelling.

Places In Jhunjhunu l Shekhawati l Rajasthan l India
Shekhawati :
It is a semi-arid historical region, this region was ruled by Shekhawat Rajputs and it is named after Rao Shekha, in the 17th to 19th centuries, located in Rajasthan, India
Medtani Bawdi :
Medtani Bawdi (Mertani Ji Ki Bawari - Step Well), built by the widow of Thakur Sardul Singh - Rani Medtani in 1783.
It is 30 meter deep and has a series of cool rooms accessible from the side of the well, they were probably meant as resting places for the people coming up with pots filled with water.
Badalgarh Fort :
It was constructed under the regime of a Muslim ruler, Nawab Fazal Khan in the early 16th century.
It is situated atop a hill, ruins of some structures are remaining now.
(Unfortunately it was closed when I was visiting.)
Khetri Mahal :
Also known as the Wind Palace, it was constructed by Bhopal Singh around 1770. Bhopal Singh was the grandson of Sardul Singh. Khetri in itself was considered to be the second wealthiest ‘Thikana’ under Jaipur.
Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh of Jaipur built his Hawa Mahal, also known as the Wind Palace, on the model of the Khetri Mahal, in 1799.
Wherever structurally possible, the walls have been pierced with arched openings. The levels of the Palace are combined through a series of ramps. The interior rooms are open and colonnaded, the columns often surmounted with openwork and curved arches. Most of the rooms are connected through arched portals rather than with doors and much of the masonry is covered with a pinkish plaster.
One enters the palace via a student hostel at the base of the structure.

History of Rani Sati :
Rani Sati Temple at jhunjhunu (Rajasthan) is a Very Popular temple.
Rani Sati, also identified as Narayani Devi and referred to as Dadiji (grandmother), is said to be a Rajasthani woman who lived sometime between the 13th and the 17th century and committed sati on her husband's death. Various temples in Rajasthan and elsewhere are devoted to her worship and to commemorate her act.
The accounts of Rani Sati's life and the events leading to her death vary widely. Her death has been dated to 1295 or 1595 in some re-tellings, while others place her in the 14th century,or even the 17th century.One such legend, recounted by Sakuntala Narsimhan.
.....On one day about six hundred years ago a fourteen-year-old Hindu bride named Narayani Devi was coming home for the first time with her husband (of the Jalan lineage) just after their marriage. Her husband worked as a merchant in Jhunjhunu. Muslim invaders suddenly attacked her husband and his companions, brutally killing them. Only Narayani Devi and (in some versions) a loyal Muslim servant named Rana survived the attack. According to the story, Narayani Devi then bravely burned herself to death by spontaneously bursting into flames to avoid being captured and kidnapped by these invaders.
In 1996, many of Rani Sati devotees celebrated the 400th anniversary of her supposed birthday on 4 December, including at a large public yagna near the temple at Jhunjhunu (the date was possibly picked in tacit protest of the formal banning of sati in Bengal Presidency by Lord Lord William Bentinck on 4 December 1829.)
