1. Location and Traffic
Markville is located between McCowan Rd and Unionville. To the south of Markville is the Markville Shopping Centre and Highway 7. To the north is 16th St. Two of the York Region’s most important transit systems, Viva Purple and Viva Green, run through the Markville community. Markville is also connected to Downtown Toronto and many other cities/towns via light rail trains that you can access through Centennial Go Station, located on the north end of the community.
2. Community Environment
Markville isn’t the biggest community when it comes to size, but it has plenty of green space and living amenities. Crisscrossing with the historical and culturally rich Unionville community, Markville share its rich history background.
The water stream from Unionville’s Toogood Pond passes through Markville and formed Walden Pond, a unique wetland park at the south end of Markville, it is elegant scenery, to say the least. Aside from Walden Pond, there are three major parks in Markville that build up its beautiful landscape: Lincoln Park, Central Park, and Centennial Park. They are all great places for family gatherings, weekend plans, and your simple after-meal walk.
Markville might be small, but it has all the components you need for a wonderful living environment. This community was established relatively late, most of the properties were built in the 1980s. On the south side of the community is the Markville Shopping Centre, it has close to 200 various vendors, including Walmart, Best Buy, and Hudson’s Bay. Across from the mall is Foody Mart, a large-scale Chinese supermarket, fulfilling residents’ various shopping needs.
The Markville Community Center is right on the edge of Centennial Park, located in the southeast corner of Markville. This community center has a 1,800-seat hockey arena, something that is extremely rare even in the whole GTA. It also has a swimming pool with classes available for all age groups, a gym, and a conference room available for booking. It is truly an amazing community that is packed with everything one can ask for.
3. Education Choices
Many clients with children use the school zone as their primary factor when picking properties. In recent years, schools in Markville have been rising in rank fast, making it one of the most desirable school zones on the market.
Markville’s corresponding elementary school is Central Park Public School, it starts from kindergarten and goes all the way up to grade 8. It is in the centre of Markville, right beside Central Park. According to the latest Fraser Institution Ranking, this school is ranked in the top 4% among all 3,000+ elementary schools in Ontario. The family of the students that enrolled in this school has an average income of $94,000. There are also several schools the provide Gifted Program around Markville, for example, Roy H Crosby Elementary and William Berczy Elementary, the two are ranked in the top 3% and top 1% respectively, and both are within 10-minute driving distance from the community.
Markville’s corresponding secondary school is Markville high, ranked 2nd among all secondary schools in Ontario! This school is well equipped with different facilities, it also offers an AP program. Many students from this school get accepted to primary universities in the United States. Every year, the school organizes study abroad programs for students as well. The school’s amazing education atmosphere and facility make it the school of choice for many, and subsequently, making Markville school zone one of the most desirable.
4. Demographic and Family Income
Chinese made up about 35% of Markville’s population, other major ethnic groups in this community include but are not limited to Indian, Greek, English, and Italian. Most households are comprised of married families, with age groups evenly distributed. Average household income is around $80,000 - $100,000
According to official data, Markville’s crime rating is A+, meaning it is a community with an extremely low crime rate, 34% lower than the national average, making it safer than the majority of other cities in Ontario.
5. Newest Data
According to Toronto Real Estate Board’s 2021 September data, Markville’s detached properties’ average price is $1,662,000, slightly higher than Berczy’s $1,647,000. But it is still lower than Unionville, which is $1,767,000. These communities are actually quite similar in terms of environment, location, and education resources, making Markville a quite affordable choice among the popular communities in Markham, and a peek into its future growth potential.

Exploring Jennings State Forest Park in Middleburg, Florida (Near Jacksonville, FL)
This beautiful forest park located near Jacksonville, Florida is one of the best in the state. It is not flat and has a lot of elevation to boast. There is a section in the forest park where it feels like you're in a mountain because of its high elevation. An adventure hike with my friends Dave and Tess from Jacksonville.

Exploring at Jennings State Forest (Old Metal at Turpentine Site)
I found this possible turpentine site at Jennings State Forest. As I explored around I saw some of this old metal on the ground. I am not sure what this was related to but one of the items looks like a battery. Could it be associated with the turpentine camp? It's hard to know but I did find Herty Cups nearby.
Hiking The Forest Roads in Jennings State Forest
There are many miles of forest roads and multi-use trails to roam in this forest. These are some unmarked trails and forest roads I hiked around Nolan Ridge Cemetery not far from Yellow Water Creek. Some of them were flooded but nothing that bad where I couldn't cross. Just a glimpse into some of the amazing wilderness you can see here!
