Jwala Ji Temple | Tashi Jong Monastery | Baijnath Temple | Best Places to Visit in Dharamshala

Jawala Ji or Jwala devi temple is one of the 51 Shaktipeeths of India and Jawala Ji Temple is one of the most highly venerated Shakti Temples in India. It is situated in the lap of the Shivalik range of Kangra valley called “Kalidhar”. This is believed to be the first-ever temple built by the Pandavas. Jwala Ji is a Devi Temple Dedicated to the “GODDESS OF LIGHT”, located in Jawala Mukhi, district Kangra of Himachal Pradesh.

Baijnath Temple is one of the most famous temples in Himachal Pradesh, and here, Lord Shiva is worshipped as the 'God of Healing'. Baijnath or Vaidyanath is an avatar of the great Lord Shiva, and in this avatar, the great lord rids his devotees of all miseries and pain. As a result, this temple holds ultimate significance to all Lord Shiva devotees and is considered extremely sacred. In fact, the water of this temple is believed to be of medicinal value and has the potential to cure several illnesses and diseases. This draws thousands of devotees from all around the world every year.

Tashi Jong Buddhist Monastery is situated about 15kms from Palampur. The monastery is located in Tashi Jong village, a small rural area between Paprola and Taragarh. Home to the Drugpa Kagyu tradition of Buddhism, this monastery is one of the schools of Kagyu tradition established by the 8th Khamtrul Rinpoche, Dongyu Nyima. The monastery complex houses the main temple, the stupa of Khamtrul Rinpoche, and the Yamantak Retreat Center which is restricted to the general public.

While returning from Chamba to Kangra we visited Masrur rock cut caves, Shree Jwala Mukhi temple along with Pragpur and Garli village, these are heritage villages of HImachal Pradesh.

Hotel in Bairagarh - We stayed at Bairagarh in “Chamunda Hotel”

Tariff - Rs 2,500 for double occupancy , During my interaction with the owner of the hotel, I realised he was rough to talk with, if i happen to travel again to this side, I will avoid to stay at this hotel.

Breakfast - We had Paneer Paratha for the breakfast, opp. Chamunda hotel, average taste.

Aloo Paratha - Rs 30

Deodar Trees - On the way to Devi Kothi temple we stopped at the beautiful place surrounded by the greenery of “Deodar Trees”. It was a great experience to walk here.

Chamunda Devi Kothi Temple - Then we reached at the Devi Kothi Temple. The Devi Kothi Temple, in the Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh, was constructed by Raja Umed Singh in 1754 CE

We had a beautiful Darshan of Maa Chamunda at this temple & saw the amazing paintings at the temple.

Lunch near Chamba - We had lunch at the Homestay of Dhami Ji. We had traditional Chamba-style food for lunch - Rajma Madra, Kadhi, Kachnar ki Sabzi & Chasni Dar.

We enjoyed the taste of the food here at this Homestay.

Tariff of this Homestay - Rs 5000 including 3 meals

Dhami Ji (Homestay Owner) - 9816620401 , I met Puneet bhai in Chamba four years back that time, he guided us through Chamba places to visit. This homestay we visited is run by his father.

Next Day - 25th June

Hotel In Kangra - We reached Kangra late at night & booked our Accommodation at the “Grover Hotel”. Average hotel in terms of service, breakfast facility not available.

Masrur Rock Cut Temple - We travelled around 40 km from Kangra & visited the Masrur Rock Cut Temple. it was built in the 6th or 7th century.

Entry Tickets - Rs 20 Per Person

Jwala Ji Temple - After this we visited Shri Jwala Ji temple. The temple is located in Jwalamukhi Town of Kangra. This temple is among the 51 Shaktipeeth in India.

The main attraction of Shree JwalaMukhi Temple is the eternal flames representing the image of a deity, Jwala Ji.

Lunch - We had our Lunch at the Fateh Dhaba & met there two of our subscribers who also runs a YouTube channel.

Thali Cost - Rs 120

Heritage Village Pragpur - We travelled 20 km & reached the Heritage Village Pragpur, first here we visited the 100-year-old Heritage Property - Naurang Yatri Niwas.

Tariff - AC Rooms - Rs 2200
Non-AC Rooms - Rs 1800

Hotel Chateau Garli - We also visited one more 100-year-old Heritage Property - “Hotel Chateau” in Garli Village.
