We've spent a few weeks over a couple of trips to Ischia, read all the blogs, bought some guide books, (DEFINITELY buying the guidebook with the bus route map in it when you arrive), and learned a lot from trial and error and talking to locals. That's how we came up with the best things to do on the island of Ischia.
We've gone during the off-season and at the end of high season. This video is from the beginning of September. I would even suggest going in mid-September when everything seems to still be open, weather is great, and you'll have a bit fewer tourists. August is a tough month because, in Italy, it's when shops shut-down for the Italians to take a vacation. I'd avoid Italy in August as a general rule.

Ischia, Italy. The opportunity to visit the picturesque Italian island of Ischia is a pleasant atmosphere of simultaneous relaxation, health improvement and shopping. An unusually beautiful island just 7 km from mainland Italy is attractive for its natural beauty - 4K video filming from a drone allows you to admire three volcanoes - Epomeo, Traboti, Monte Vezzi, many thermal springs and a magnificent coastline with magnificent beaches. Ischia is positioned as a health - thermal and balneological resort, there are many natural and man-made attractions, an excellent place for relaxation, acquaintance with monuments and amazing historical sites.
general information
Ischia is a picturesque Italian volcanic island located in the Tyrrhenian Sea a few kilometers off the western coast of the mainland, near Naples. Belongs to the Campania region, the size of the island is small: 7 by 9 km, stretching from east to west. The last volcanic eruption in Ischia was in 1301.
The population of Ischia is more than 65 thousand inhabitants, the area of the territory is about 47 square kilometers.
Every year millions of tourists come to this cozy and varied resort to improve their health in thermal parks and gardens - there are about 103 thermal springs on the island, 29 underground pools, 67 fumaroles.
The island has been known as a resort since ancient times. The first settlements were founded on the island by the Greeks, later in the Roman period wealthy Roman patricians built their villas here. After the fall of the Roman Empire, the island was ruled by barbarians, pirates also often raided the wealthy inhabitants of the island.
Today Ischia is a prestigious Italian spa resort, known far beyond the borders of the country and Europe, an island of eternal youth and beauty.
Capital
The capital of the island is the city of Ischia of the same name; it consists of two parts: Ischia-Porto and Ischia-Ponte. The unique port of the capital, located in a former volcano crater, is a convenient harbor for many ferries and ships arriving on the island.
The city is rich in historical, cultural and architectural monuments - excursions to the Aragonese Castle, the amazing beach of San Pietro, the Fisherman's Beach, the Church of Santa Maria - the Port Guardian of the 19th century, the large thermal park of Castiglione will not leave anyone indifferent.
How to get there
It is convenient to get to the island by ships from Naples and other Italian ports to the island's capital, Ischia, Porto - the travel time by speedboat from Naples to Ischia is about 40 minutes. There is no airport on the island.
Nature
The nature of the island is varied - here a variety of natural and artificial plantings, field grasses and shrubs grow in great abundance from March to late autumn, thanks to the dazzling sun almost throughout the year.
The mountain slopes of the hills on the island are covered with vineyards, citrus groves, chestnut groves give way to thickets of cacti and agave in the southern part. Cypresses, almonds, cork trees, various garden crops make up the majority of Ischia's flora.
