Canada Road Trip: Best Things To Do In The Yukon
In this video, we share some of the best things to do in the Yukon, including Whitehorse, Dawson, Kluane National Park, and more!
Welcome to the Yukon!
Known for its dramatic landscapes, vast wilderness, and the famous Klondike Gold Rush, the Yukon has been capturing people's imaginations for years. With four-legged creatures far outnumbering humans, Canada's tallest mountain peaks, and the world's largest non-polar glacier, the Yukon is a true paradise for adventurers and outdoor enthusiasts.
We started our journey in Whitehorse, the Yukon's capital city. From here, we toured the SS Klondike, ate some delicious food in Whitehorse's oldest buildings, saw heaps of wildlife, and caught a glimpse of the Northern Lights. We then went to Dawson, the worlds most famous gold rush town. While walking around the old boardwalk streets was incredible enough, we also went gold panning, toured the massive dredge #4, watched a Cancan show at the oldest casino in the country, and took a river cruise on a paddle-wheeler. We then drove up the infamous Dempster Highway all the way to Eagle Plains, past the Arctic Circle and into the Northwest Territories. After coming back and spending another night in Dawson, we drove to Kluane National Park for one of the most epic flightseeing tours we've ever experienced.
We explored the Yukon from August 16 - September 6th, 2017!

Life in Iqaluit Nunavut
Our very last stop on our social media powered exploration of Canada and the United States took us to the remote northern territory of Nunavut in Canada. The very new territory is little known by most North Americans, so we set out to explore and share our findings for your behalf. Watch as we walk around the city of Iqaluit (Nunavut's capital city) and discover all sorts of interesting and sometimes quirky things.
Map of Nunavut
Nunavut is Canada's northernmost and youngest official territory, officially adopted in 1999 and stretching up to the north pole over much of the Canadian Arctic Archipelago. Although most of the small towns of its rocky tundra are only accessible by boat or plane, there's still a great number of things to do as a tourist of this mostly icy region..
Indigenous First Nation peoples' artwork and clothing are popular among tourists and locals alike—in fact, much of the economy of Nunavut comes from creating handmade goods and shipping them to the more popularly visited southern regions..
Among the most popular attractions in this relatively new official territory include Baffin and Ellesmere Islands, the Inuit-city-turned-military-base at Iqaluit, Sirmilik National Park, and Repulse Bay..

Boating: Frobisher Bay (Iqaluit), Nunavut. #iqaluit #nunavut #boating
I was honoured to go on a boating trip on the Frobisher Bay this summer. Frobisher Bay is located in the Inuit Homeland of Nunavut, in northern Canada.
The trip was hosted by an Inuit owned and operated company, Polar Outfitting.
The activity is typically 8 hours, between 9-10am until 5-6pm. Like all outdoor activities, availability and duration is highly dependent on the weather.
Coffee, snacks and lunch are provided.
We were hoping to see wildlife: seals, whales and maybe a polar bear, but due to increasing winds, we couldn’t go out far enough to see them.

Biking in Iqaluit, Nunavut - Narrated Ride
This video shows my Friday June 2nd, 2023 cycling tour through Iqaluit, Nunavut, Canada. The video begins at the Iqaluit Airport (YFB) towards the northwest end of town. From there I followed Ungalliqpaat and joined Federal Rd heading Southeast. After a quick detour past the Nunavut Legislative Assembly, I briefly rode along Mivvik St before joining Queen Elizabeth to continue through the centre of town. After passing Northmart, I turned onto Sinaa to ride along next to the frozen water of Frobisher Bay before turning north onto Qajaq, and returning Northwest along Nipisa St and Palaugaa. After making a left turn onto Niaqunngusiariaq I ended the video just east of Federal Rd.
Some of the points of interest that I passed along the ride include: a view of the newer houses built on the Plateau, the baseball field, the Aqsarniit Hotel (the new hotel), the Inuit Broadcasting Corporation, the Black Heart Café, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) building, the Qimugjuk Building, the Nunavut Legislative Assembly, RBC Financial Group, the Iqaluit Canada Post office, a dental clinic, CIBC bank, Tim Hortons, Northmart, Nakasuk School (elementary school), the Unikkaarvik Visitor Centre, the Nunatta Sunakkutaangit Museum, the Iqaluit Harbour pier, the KFC / Pizza Hut / Quick Stop, the Snack restaurant, the Frobisher Inn, St. Jude's Anglican Cathedral and the Iqaluit Aquatic Centre.
In this video I was riding a CCM Inception bicycle which I borrowed. I filmed this using my GoPro HERO 9 Black action camera mounted to a chest strap. I recorded the audio with a modified dreamGEAR gaming headset, plugged into an old smartphone. Unfortunately I had forgotten to bring the equipment that I normally use for recording audio with me on this trip, so I had to make do with what I could find in the stores in town.
Strava link for this day of riding:
I hope you enjoyed this video. Please COMMENT and subscribe!
Thanks for watching.
