Atherton Tablelands is a totally different world from the coastal towns of Far North Queensland like Cape Tribulation or Cairns or Townsville. Waterfalls, swimming holes, lakes rivers, streams and rainforests make this area worth visiting and one day is not enough for Atherton Tablelands.
Chasing waterfalls, hiking up to Walshs pyramid or just swimming in a crater lake, this place has something for everyone! I spent 2 days in Atherton Tablelands, Queensland to explore the different regions and see the variety of places there are.
We drove around on our own pace but there are plenty of Atherton tableland day trips that can take you to this epic place. I have ranked the places I visiting from 1-8 (best to least favourite) and I am sure this Cairns Travel Vlog will help you decided which place was a hit and which was a miss:
1. Josephine Falls

3. Lake Eacham
4. Walshs Pyramid
5. Curtain Fig Tree
6. Lake Barrine

Cairns tourism is getting back on track and these places will definitelt get busier than they are right now so while they are quite, take out some time and pay a visit. Atherton Tablelands is one of the best day trips from Cairns.
Most people come here for the Atherton Tablelands Waterfall Circuit but they miss out on so many beautiful places nestled in this region.

Ingham, Queensland - 4K Ambient Walk
Ingham is a small town fairly close to Townsville. This 4K walking tour takes in the main street section of Ingham, which is the Bruce Highway, and features The Pub With No Beer.
I was stopping off on my way from Cairns to Townsville and it was a nice break to have a walk around this small town and capture some of its character in 4K.
The town has a population of less than 5,000 people and this is a relatively short 4K walking tour.
I hope you enjoy Ingham.

North Queensland or the Northern Region is the northern part of the state of Queensland in Australia that lies just south of Far North Queensland. Queensland is a massive state, larger than many countries, and the tropical northern part of it has been historically remote and undeveloped, resulting in a distinctive regional character and identity.
Townsville is the largest urban centre in North Queensland, leading it to be regarded as an unofficial capital[citation needed]. The region has a population of 231,628 and covers 80,041.5 km².[1]
There is no official boundary that separates North Queensland from the rest of the state. Unofficially it is usually considered to have a southern border beginning south of the Mackay Region southern boundary, but historically it has been as far south as Rockhampton. To the north is the Far North Queensland region, centred around Cairns and out west is the Gulf Country.
A coastal region centred around its largest settlement is the city of Townsville. The city is the location of a major seaport handling exports from mines in Mount Isa and cattle exports from coastal and inland areas. The region also contains a bulk sugar exporting terminal at Lucinda in the region's north. Mackay is Australia's sugar capital and produces the most sugar in Australia and is shipped at Mackay Harbour. Mackay is also one of Australia's biggest coal exporters as it is close to Queensland's major mines. Dalrymple Bay, south of Mackay is another port where coal and sugar is exported. It also contains the inland city of Charters Towers and the coastal towns of Ayr and Ingham.
Other Communities in North Queensland include Home Hill, Sarina, Bowen, Airlie Beach and Proserpine.
Throughout the years, there have been many calls for the formation of a new state. Many proposals have been drawn up, regarding the borders, name and the debate over which city will become the capital.[2]

ITCH - Jourama Falls Leap of Faith - (Cliffjumping, Waterfalls, North Queensland)
Cliffjumping. Made during some windy weather that saw the watercraft stay at home and sent us inland chasing waterfalls. This place is pretty well known to NQLD locals. In between Townsville and Ingham, take the Jourama Rd turnoff from the Bruce Highway. Go to the very end of the dirt track and park in the Cul de Sac, then follow the track for 15 - 25 minutes. Remember that there are 3 good size waterfalls here so take the time to find the track on the right from the first waterfall (10s) to get to the top.
