Iisalmi (Swedish: Idensalmi) is a town and municipality in the Region of Northern Savonia in Finland. The municipality has a population of 21,947 (31 March 2016) and covers an area of 872.13 square kilometres (336.73 sq mi) of which 109.22 km2 (42.17 sq mi) is water. The population density is 28.77 inhabitants per square kilometre (74.5/sq mi). The municipality is unilingually Finnish.
Iisalmi traces its roots back to 1627, when the parish of Iisalmi was formed around the local church. In the 18th century, when Finland was under Swedish control, Sweden was frequently at war with Imperial Russia, and the area of Koljonvirta in Iisalmi was a battlefield on which one of the greatest Swedish victories occurred. However, Sweden lost its last war with Russia and had to surrender Finland to the Russian Empire in 1809. Iisalmi gained its status as town in 1891.

Snowfall In Finland: Walking In A Snowstorm In Iisalmi (Nov 2021)
A narrated 4K walk during snowfall in Iisalmi in northern Savonia, in the middle of Finland. This 40-minute walk through a snowstorm has winter scenes of the city, although sometimes the buildings are hard to see from the snow. This was one of the first snowstorms of the winter and marked the start of snowy winter weather with the snow staying on the ground and freezing temperatures since then.
Join me for a snowday walk where snowfall continues throughout the whole video and fresh snow piles on the ground. If you are here for the snow, some of the best bigger snowflakes appear towards the middle and end of the video. :)
The walk starts on the main street of Pohjolankatu and continues past the Pyhän Ristin kirkko church (Holy Cross) to the waterside of lake Porovesi, although we only see the snow on its surface. I then take Kauppakatu over to the market square as the snowstorm intensifies a bit. From there we return to Church Park, Kirkkopuisto, and see the Orthodox church, Profeetta Elian kirkko, and the beautiful wooden buildings in this district. I make my way along the smaller streets back to the main street of Pohjolankatu where the walk ends while it's still snowing.
Iisalmi has a population of just over 21000 people and was granted town status as early as 1891.There are 111 lakes in the Iisalmi region. Iisalmi is by the lake Porovesi, Reindeer water. There is a train connection to the capital Helsinki several times a day and the journey lasts over 5 hours, whether by train or car.
This narrated walk is 4K at 60 FPS and was recorded with DJI Pocket 2 on 25th November 2021.

Snowfall Walk In Iisalmi Finland (Nov 2021)
A narrated 4K walk during a snowstorm in Iisalmi in the middle of Finland. This 30-minute walk with snowfall throughout starts at the city centre on Pohjolankatu and I make my way towards the waterfront with the world's smallest restaurant (in the book of records) and the Olvi brewery. At the waterfront I make my way through fresh snow and meet a pheasant hiding in the snow. The walk ends at the hometown museum which has, amongst other things, an old windmill.
This video is mostly more winter and snow scenes in another part of town than was covered in an earlier walk in the snowstorm.
