Top 5 Restaurants to Enjoy When Visiting Hutchinson Island or Fort Pierce, FL

Are you new to the Hutchinson Island area, or thinking of visiting? Here are the top 5 restaurants you NEED to try when you’re in Hutchinson Island, Florida!

Number 1… On The Edge located on the Fort Pierce inlet. On the Edge Bar & Grill is a high-quality waterfront restaurant offering beautiful seaside views and delicious food. All the fish served is fresh, locally caught & never frozen. Their Mahi-Mahi, Swordfish, and Tuna are caught in deep water, approximately 150 miles offshore to the northeast of Fort Pierce. All their beef is certified angus, their vegetables are all fresh and never frozen, and the bread they serve is from a local bakery and delivered fresh to their kitchen. Visit On the Edge by car or boat and enjoy great food, drinks, and live music. And the best part? They’re dog friendly, so feel free to bring along your furry family members to join in on
the fun!

Number 2… 12A Buoy! So good! An amazing seafood restaurant with an open and airy outdoor sitting area with a colorful exterior. They serve up homestyle seafood dishes in a relaxed rustic environment. Enjoy gorgeous views of boats passing by while eating some of the freshest seafood in the area. The chefs decide the menu for the day based on the fisherman’s fresh catch of the day! They have the best soup, called Miami Vice Chowder, a soup consisting of half clam chowder and half conch soup! It’s a must try if you give them a visit!

Number 3… Cobbs Landing, located waterfront in the beautiful Historic Downtown Ft. Pierce. They are a tropical-themed spot with a mojito bar & a seafood-heavy menu which also includes tacos & pasta. The restaurant is under a giant tiki and near the boats in the marina, setting the stage for beautiful views while you enjoy great drinks and fresh seafood in a relaxed atmosphere. They have a great gumbo and ahi tuna poke bowl, and their turkey burger is to die for! Their drinks are reasonably priced and refreshing to sip on while watch the boats cruise by!

Number 4… Chuck’s Seafood Restaurant home of the World-Famous Fried Shrimp and some of the freshest seafood you will find in Florida! Their menu changes daily depending on the fresh catches of the day! They are known for their classic American seafood dishes and gorgeous waterfront views. While enjoying some friend shrimp make sure to visit their famous “Captain’s Room” which is filled with signed guitars, trumpets, pictures and other musical items from famous bands and musicians such as ‘The Beatles’, ‘Shania Twain’, ‘The Beach Boys’ and more!

Number 5… Pickled! A new casual southern style dining spot with an amazing selection of bourbons and whiskeys. They are known for their tapas style menu items, hand crafted cocktails, and dinner menu items. They are the perfect date night spot, where you can enjoy an upscale but still casual dining atmosphere and walk across the street to go axe throwing to end a fun date night! Their deviled eggs and scallops are a must try!

Bathtub Reef Beach, Hutchinson Island, Stuart Florida

While staying on Hutchinson Island for the weekend we decided to check out Bathtub Reef Beach located in Stuart which was 30 minutes south on A1A from the Fort Pierce Inlet. The beach is beautiful, crystal clear water, and the reef was very cool but lacking tropical fish and other sea life I expected to see here.

At high tide I saw people snorkeling on the east side of the reef. We checked that out but found it to be very dangerous so please BEWARE - If you drift to where the reef rises out of the water you can get trapped between the waves & the reef so be very careful!

This reef system is created by tiny tube-building Sabellariid sea worms and is not only incredibly unique, but also an extremely fragile one.

The worms cement sand grains together, creating a vast network of tube dwellings. Colonies build up over time and create a reef system that helps break waves in the summer months, creating a “bathtub effect.” This made the beautiful white sand beach into a lagoon which was absolutely beautiful & a perfect place for kids.

Please let me know if this video was informative, feedback is always appreciated as I try to bring you footage of the coolest spots around Florida that you can enjoy with your family.

The House of Refuge at Gilbert’s bar 2022 | Hutchinson Island , Florida

This is a Drone Video of the House of Refuge at Gilbert's Bar Museum in 2022. The place is spectacular and will take you back to the 1800s when shipwrecks were common across the Florida Coast. It is a magical place that I want to share with you from the air!

Sunrise Drone Video of The House of Refuge of Hutchinson Island, in Martin county

The Houses of Refuge were designated as havens for shipwrecked sailors and travelers along the sparsely populated Atlantic coastline of Florida. Run by the United States Lifesaving Service, the Houses played a critical role in a time when sailing ships dominated the world commerce.
The historic structure has weathered many storms and provided needed shelter for shipwreck survivors, including those of the Georges Valentine, an Italian brigantine whose wreckage remains just 100 yards off the rocky shoreline, providing an ideal dive site.

Hutchinson Shores Resort & Spa / Resort in Jensen Beach, Florida / Stay in Hutchinson Island Florida

Hutchinson Shores Resort and Spa is such a great weekend getaway located in Jensen Beach, Florida. This amazing accommodation is located close to all there is to do in Stuart, Florida, and Jupiter, Florida. That means that you can explore and adventure OR relax and enjoy your resort! I do believe I misspoke and called it Hutchinson Island Resort and Spa several times throughout the video instead of its correct name, Hutchinson Shores Resort and Spa. Either way, we had a phenomenal time and will definitely be back.

House of Refuge Hutchinson Island Florida

Follow us on Instagram -
Get your Epic merch here -

Gilbert’s Bar House of Refuge, Martin County’s oldest building, has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1974. The House of Refuge at Gilbert’s Bar is the only remaining House of Refuge. Built as one of ten along the east coast of Florida, it is the oldest structure in Martin County and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

It is located on a picturesque section of beach called the St. Lucie Rocks, an outcropping of Anastasia limestone similar to what you see at Blowing Rocks on Jupiter Island. It’s a gorgeous spot: The 1876 cottage is surrounded by an award-winning garden of native plants and flowers and has spectacular views of both the ocean and the Indian River Lagoon.
It is also the last house of refuge of 10 originally built along Florida’s coast to aid shipwreck victims. For lovers of history, this spot is a window into the world of Florida as a wilderness where hurricanes blasted ships onto the reefs without warning and survivors wandered Robinson Crusoe-like on empty beaches.

Amongst the shipwreck survivors was Georges Valentine, an Italian brigantine whose wreckage remains just 100 yards off the rocky shoreline, providing an ideal dive site.

The House of Refuge continues to withstand the test of time, while offering a fascinating look at a bygone lifestyle along the sea.
