This was also the trip I broke my phone, kindle, and portable battery when my bag fell in the water while we were swimming. We came back to the storage area and it was floating underwater for probably minutes. The rice didn't save them. Oh well that was my bad. The place itself was really cool and nice and an example of the beauty of southeast China.

Also forgot my SD card in my computer so I couldn't use my gopro at all. It was a pretty bad between me and electronics that day, but it's ok. I'll make sure im more prepared on the next trip

Huizhou Ancient City in Anhui province is referred as one of the best preserved ancient cities in China. It is also the birthplace of the Huizhou merchants, a famous business group in China that flourished in the late Ming Dynasty
Xuguo memorial Stone Archway was completed in 1584. It is China’s only surviving eight-sided decorative archway. Xu Guo was an official in the Ming Dynasty who made a great difference in the war against an insurgency in Yunnan, so the memorial archway was constructed to praise his contribution.
Huizhou State Office, occupying an area of 9,800 square meters, is the symbol of Huizhou Ancient City. It still keeps its origin layout. The complex is symmetrical along the central axis, following the typical architectural style of state offices in ancient China.
Doushan Street was built in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. It is more than 300 meters long, full of ancient dwelling houses, beautiful carvings, ancient wells and various archways. The constructions in Doushan Street embodies the main characteristics of ancient Huizhou style architectures. This street was a gregarious place for ancient Huizhou merchants. The resident population is 448,200, and the registered population is 158,000.
