HOW TO SPEND A DAY IN BRAY, BERKSHIRE | The Fat Duck | The Waterside Inn | The Hinds Head | Village
This video is about how to spend a day in Bray, Berkshire. This village near London is a great place if you love good food, as it's home to 2 restaurants with 3 Michelin stars as well as a Michelin-starred pub.
The village itself is beautiful, too. There are lots of picturesque streets to explore, and a historic church to admire. Bray is right on the Thames, too, and you can go for walks in the countryside while you're visiting.
The video shows highlights like lunch at The Hind's Head, drinks at The Crown, and dinner at The Waterside Inn in Bray, UK. It also shows what the rooms at The Waterside Inn are like (and the famous breakfast!).

Devil's Punch Bowl | Hindhead, Surrey | Halloween Specials
Enjoy the scenic walk in the Sailor's last stroll pathway where the anonymous sailor were murdered. A short walk through to the haunted Gibbet Hill where the murders were executed and hung rotten in the 18th Century.
Great combination especially for this Halloween.

Devil's Punch Bowl from above
Filmed on location at the Devils Punch Bowl, Haslemere, Surrey. Shot using a DJI Mavic Mini drone. Edited using DaVinchi Resolve Studio.
The Punch Bowl is a large natural amphitheatre whereby the London to Portsmouth A3 road skirted the rim of the site before the Hindhead Tunnel was built in 2011. Following the creation of the tunnel, the old A3 road was removed and allowed the site to return to nature. Now all that remains is a walkway along the old road. At the top of the punch bowl is Gibbet Hill, which has spectacular views over the Surrey Hills with London and Guildford viewable on a clear day.

The Naked Lady
During the road excavations in Boundless Valley (April 2007) as the ground was being prepared for the approach to the tunnel, the contractors came across the carving above which depicts a woman naked except for her high-heeled shoes.
The graffiti artist signed as 'G. Wadham. Southall. 5/3/43'.
The carving on the remotely located 400-year-old beech tree was already known to the Forestry Commission, National Trust and local historians this 'discovery' resulted in a brief flurry of interest in the national media as they tried to track down the mysterious G. Wadham in a bid to find out who the carving,Locals believed the work was done by a British soldier on wartime exercise, or was perhaps that of a Canadian serviceman as there was a large Canadian army camp nearby.
However a journalist from the Daily Mail eventually determined that there had been one Gerald Wadham who settled in the Hindhead area after the war when he ran a shop and a pub, and coincidentally was living in Southall in 1943. Sadly he died many years ago and his family were unaware of the carving, so the identity of the woman went with him to the grave, if indeed he was the creator.
The Daily Mail's claim that the route of the tunnel road was diverted in order to save the tree was officially denied by the contractors at the time.

Temple of the Four Winds
Sadly, only the base is left of this once grand hunting lodge, owned by Viscount Pirrie, . His elaborate lodge was a place for entertaining wealthy hunting parties and located primarily for its outstanding views across his estate and deer park.
The lodge known as the Temple of the Four Winds was built around 1910 by Viscount Pirrie, a leading Irish shipbuilder chairman of the shipbuilding company that built the Titanic
The Viscount’s Witley Park estate included a deer park over this area and many elaborate picnic lunches were held at the lodge for his hunting friends. Viscount Pirrie used to enjoy looking out over his estate from here and admiring the extensive views.
Sadly the lodge gradually fell into disrepair and was vandalised and the lead stolen from the roof in 1959. By 1966 it had become a hazard and had to be dismantled, Now only the stone base remains.

HINDHEAD TUNNEL: LONGEST ROAD TUNNEL IN THE UK
CHECK OUT THIS MARVEL OF ENGINEERING. The Hindhead Tunnel is on the A3 highway which runs from Portsmouth into the greater London area. The tunnel is 1.2 miles long, opened in 2011 and cost 400 million GBP. I was the passenger here so none of my usual distracted driving. The speed limit through the tunnel is 70 mph.
TRIVIA: in England highways are called carriageways. So a divided highway is called a 'duel carriageway', and guess what not a lot of horse and carriages on the highways.
DUMB TRIVIA: I picked the thumbnail as there is 'light at the end of the tunnel'.
Trails in Surrey
Trails in Surrey is a Channel that visualizes both well known National Trust and more obscure walks across the county in the form of Self Guides.
Recent locations we have visited include Shere, Ranmore Common, Hindhead, Ripley, Weybridge , Runnymede, Hurtwood and Esher Commons.
The Self Guides provide narration, videos and pictures at all key landmarks along each trail and often highlight optional loops to extend a walk into a Hike.
Likes are always appreciated when you find a video useful as well as your comments.
At the end of this introduction you will see links to some of the walks and many more are accessible by choosing an area Playlist e.g. Central Surrey.

Riding Along The Old A3 Devil's Punchbowl
Cycling along the old A3 around the Devil's Punchbowl in Hindhead, Surrey on 13th August 2011 after its closure. The Punchbowl is now bypassed by the Hindhead Tunnel and this bit of road will now be dug up and returned to nature, re-uniting the Punchbowl with Hindhead Common.

Places to see in ( Haslemere - UK )
Haslemere is a town in the borough of Waverley in Surrey, England. It is located at the tripoint with Hampshire and West Sussex, approximately 12 miles southwest of Guildford, and is the most southerly town in Surrey.
Haslemere lies just east of the A3, the major road between London and Portsmouth, while the south branch of the River Wey rises just to the south of the town, on Black Down in West Sussex. The town's railway station is served by South West Trains services between London Waterloo and Portsmouth, while the town itself has a small commercial district with service and retail amenities.
One of the rotten boroughs, returning two Members of Parliament until the reform Act of 1832, one being Carew Raleigh the son of Sir Walter Raleigh. Haslemere's borough expanded into the surrounding Haslemere parish and recovered with the construction of the Portsmouth Direct Line, which connected Haslemere with London Waterloo and Portsmouth Harbour railway stations. In Victorian Britain Haslemere became a fashionable place to live and continues to be a commuter town for London, and to a lesser extent Portsmouth, served by Haslemere railway station.
Haslemere is a town in the borough of Waverley, Surrey, England, close to the border with both Hampshire and West Sussex and is the most southerly town in Surrey. The major road between London and Portsmouth, the A3 lies to the west and a branch of the River Wey to the south. Haslemere is 11.9 miles (19.2 km) southwest-by-south of Guildford. surrounded by hills, with Blackdown at 920 feet (280 m) to the south and Gibbet Hill at 894 feet (272 m) to the north. The latter was the site of state executions from at least medieval times until the late 18th century. Many of those hanged were highwaymen, because the roads around Haslemere, particularly alongside the nearby Devil's Punch Bowl, were notoriously dangerous. Today, much of the heathland and woodland is owned and protected by the National Trust and has become a popular attraction for walkers.
Haslemere has a concert hall known as The Haslemere Hall. Located on Bridge Road, just off West Street, the hall can seat 340 people and is used regularly as a theatre, a concert venue and a cinema. Performances are held by local theatre groups including the Haslemere Thespians and the Haslemere Players. Haslemere Musical Society Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, conducted by James Ross, also hold performances and there are popular music concerts. Films are shown shortly after their general release.
Haslemere Town Band was officially founded in 1837 following the amalgamation of two small bands which had started in 1834, and is one of the UK’s oldest brass bands in continuous existence. Their first engagement was playing for the coronation of Queen Victoria in 1838. The Band continues to play an active part in the life of the town, playing at community events throughout the year, as well as at numerous summer fetes and garden parties in the surrounding district.
Haslemere railway station is operated and served by South West Trains. It is situated on the Portsmouth Direct Line with trains running between London Waterloo and either Portsmouth Harbour or Portsmouth and Southsea. Haslemere is served by buses to Aldershot, Guildford, Hindhead, Bordon and Midhurst. The A286 and the A287 are the main routes into Haslemere, with the A3 running close by.
