10 Best Villages to Live in Wales
What are the best villages to live in Wales? Living as some people are doing, in any part of the United Kingdom has already insulated you from certain challenges in some terrible parts of the world. This is important to be borne in mind for anyone living in any of the villages in the country. For reasons bordering on peace and tranquility, some of our lovers love living in Wales. However, it’s puzzling to some that these people are not particularly focusing on cities like Cardiff. Rather, they love villages in Wales. Are there villages you too might love to consider as a home in Wales? We are affirmative in our answer, and we have proofs for this in this video about the 10 best villages to live in Wales.
10. St Fagans, Cardiff
We begin with St Fagans, an affluent village on the outskirts of the city of Cardiff known for St Fagans Castle. It’s a picturesque village where you can discover the depth of richness of Welsh history and culture, taking you on a trip back in time to the Wales of old. St Fagans is just a short jaunt from the hubbub of the capital. It’s just about a 20-minute drive down the A roads right from the heart of Cardiff. You’re certain to have a hint of Welsh heritage through the ages and enjoy a recreation of a 19th-century mining terrace.
9. Solva, Pembrokeshire
Next is Solva, a lovely fishing village in Pembrokeshire. Living in this pint-sized village, you can simply walk and wander on the coast north of St Bride’s Bay. As the tide washes in and out, the character of the village takes on different appearances. When the water is high, it’s felt around the quaysides and the pubs. And when it’s low, a muddy estuary is revealed filled with crawling crabs and fishing skiffs.
The village is nice for photos and is a good place for adventure as you take scenic walks around the village. The bracing sea treks are unrivaled as the path wiggles to the east and west. You can also find the hidden sands of Porthmynawyd Beach.
8. Beddgelert, Gwynedd
Beddgelert is the first of the villages in Gwynedd to be mentioned here. Located in the northwest county of Gwynedd at the point of convergence of the Colwan and Glaslyn rivers, Beddgelert’s idyllic setting gives you a taste of what living in a charming scene is all about. Your days and those of your visitors would be filled with the desire for selfies as you take a walk, hike, or engage in other outdoor activities on mountains and other stunning views as part of your daily activities. You can even get to see the central place in the famous folklore legend of Gelert the dog.
7. Portmeirion, Gwynedd
If you are ever grateful to the British architect Sir Clough Williams-Ellis, the curious creator of this village, you would love Portmeirion as one of the nicest villages to live in Wales. This Gwynedd village of follies and odes was forged to highlight all sorts of architectural styles in the heart of the borough between 1925 and the 1970s. At the village’s central piazza, there are Italianate mansions mingling with gothic towers and European baroque façades. Not far from there are arboretums of palm trees and pines.

Henllys Lime Kilns - Hidden In The Valleys
To donate and support our channel:
Henllys Lime Kilns in Carmarthenshire is beautifully situated beside a river, carving its way through the valley. What’s left is well preserved and adds to the allure of the place and is just one stop on a beautiful walk.

----- Short History -----
- Probably built in the late 19th century.
- A narrow-gauge tramway was built after 1875, to connect the various limestone quarries at Foel Ffraith with limekilns near Henllys Vale Colliery.
- It associated with the Black Mountain quarries behind.
- Owned by Black Mountain Anthracite Co, later the New Henllys Anthracite Co. Ltd..
- Coal was obtained from the nearby Henllys Vale Colliery and limestone from nearby quarries via tramway.
- The chimney was used to power machinery. It had to be tall because of low wind down in the valley.
- Its four kilns are built into the hillside with an usually high bank of 10m.
- The kilns were connected to the Swansea Vale Railway.
- Henllys Vale closed by the 1930s, and most of the buildings were demolished by the 1950s.
- The chimney and limekilns were restored in 1986.

Two Valley Lines to clear and two Stations to film (19th June 2019)
The final part of my trip in Wales, Two Valley Lines to clear is to clear the Maesteg and Ebbw Vale Town branch lines which couldn't be done back in 2014.
Also during the day, I visit two railway stations, Bridgend and Pontypridd to do some filming, there is also a visit to Pontypridd Graig Station which a tunnel which boarded up remains.
After a day in South Wales, I heard back on the Transport for Wales Class 67 Locomotive loco haul which starts at Cardiff Central and goes to Holyhead but I only travelling as far as Hereford before heading back to Birmingham New Street on a West Midlands Railway Class 170/Class 153 combination before taking a Class 350 EMU home.

Caerphilly, Wales
Driving thru Caerphilly, Wales (Full HD, 1080, 30fps)
Facts taken from Wikipedia:
Caerphilly (Welsh: Caerffili) is a county constituency centred on the town of Caerphilly in South Wales. It returns one Member of Parliament (MP) to the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom, elected by the first past the post voting system.
Since its creation, the constituency has always elected Labour MPs, although the predecessor constituency of East Glamorganshire, and prior to that Glamorganshire had elected Liberal MPs throughout the Victorian era.
The Caerphilly constituency covers roughly the southern and eastern half of Caerphilly district, the part of the district historically located in Glamorgan. In the north-west of the constituency are communities such as Hengoed and Ystrad Mynach, extending in a southeasterly direction through Caerphilly and Llanbradach to the rural outcrops bordering Cardiff.
Hengoed Viaduct ☆Wiadukt w Hengoed
▪︎Wykonawcami zatrudnionymi do wykonania prac byli panowie Rennie i Logan, którzy rozpoczęli prace nad konstrukcją murowaną w połowie 1853 r.
1964 r. Wiadukt Hengoed został zaoferowany do sprzedaży za nominalną kwotę jednego funta (1,00!) I jest obecnie własnością Railway Paths Ltd.
Dziękuję za poświęcony

We find ourselves once again in the Welsh Valleys as we continue to revisit some stations where Pacer units operate before these are withdrawn later on this year. These are the individual videos for all the stations we visited on our one day ride around the valleys, there will be another two or three days in the summer where we finish off our still remaining revisits.
The full video diary for these revisits can be found here:

Digswell Viaduct - from Dashcam
The Digswell Viaduct, also called Welwyn Viaduct, is a railway viaduct that carries the East Coast Main Line over the River Mimram and is a locally important landmark. It is located between Welwyn Garden City and Digswell. It is just to the south of Welwyn North railway station.
The viaduct is around 1,560 feet (475 m) long and comprises forty arches of 30 ft (9 m) span, and is 100 ft (30 m) high from ground level to trackbed. It is built of brick fired from brick clay quarried on site during construction, and took two years to build, including the construction of embankments at both ends which required the movement of around one million tons of earth by human and horse power. It was designed by William Cubitt and styled after a Roman aqueduct.
