Azerbaijan - Khinalig - Europe's highest village

A day trip out of Baku from Fairmont Baku, Flame Towers, saw us heading for Guba and the ancient village of Khinalig atop a mountain, surrounded by breathtaking scenery. Once inaccessible, now passable due to the newly installed road, the ascent and descent is certainly not for the faint hearted but the majesty of the mountains and the indomitable spirit of the inhabitants - make the journey well worth while. We stopped along the way for sustenance at a local outdoor restaurant and were invited in to take tea with a welcoming family in Khinalig. A long day trip from Baku but highly recommended for the adventurous spirit.

Крепость Колагири - обзорная экскурсия по Грузии с высоты птичьего полета

Крепость Колагири - Крепость и монастырь королевы - феодальный век (конец XVIII века) в Восточной Грузии, в селе Болниси, современный муниципалитет Колагири. Находится на реке с левой стороны от Альгети. Место открытое, одинаково доступно со всех сторон.
Колагири является одной из последних крепостей, построенных в Квемо Картли и Кахетии. Крепость была построена в 1788-1798 годах Королевой Дареджаной. В 1801 Дареджана сама написала «Я построила большой замок и забор в Колагири». Сохранился проект, согласно которому был построен этот замок. План этой крепости квадратный, площадь около 2000 кв. м. Постройка выполнена из необработанного камня. Кирпич используется для отделки и декоративной обработки входных башен. Стена высотой 6 м ниже и толще. Боевой ход окружает весь замок на втором этаже башен. По углам крепости расположены цилиндрические башни с прямоугольными башнями в центре восточной и западной стен. Одна из стен имеет главный вход. Угловые цилиндрические башни - это уникальное решение. Три этажа предназначены для боя. Из других построек внутри крепости - только одна маленькая церковь. Замок крепость Колагири имеет два входа. Крепость должна была стоять на страже некоторое время. С начала 19 века она утратила свою функцию так же как и другие крепости Грузии. Сейчас в наше время это одна из красивых достопримечательностей Грузии куда обязательно стоит съездить и посетить этот средневековый монастырь.

We started our journey from Dubai on 17th October. Azerbaijan is situated across the borders of eastern Europe and western Asia. The best part is .. it's just three-hour flight time to reach there from UAE and visa on arrival is available for UAE residents. In this video you will see the majestic Baku, which is famous for history and modern architecture. Baku is located 28 metres below sea level, which makes it the lowest lying national capital in the world and also the largest city in the world below sea level.

Baku is also the world's largest petroleum producer. The best time to visit Baku is from April to October.

Khazar Islands, Azerbaijan - Unravel Travel TV

The Khazar Islands, Azerbaijani also known as Caspian Islands, is a planned development of artificial islands 25 km (16 miles) south of Baku, Azerbaijan consisting of 41 islands extending 3,000 hectares (about 11.6 sq mi) over the Caspian Sea.

Avesta, the company responsible for the islands' development, is constructing the city to house 1 million residents, contain 150 schools, 50 hospitals and daycare centers, numerous parks, shopping malls, cultural centers, university campuses, a Formula 1 quality racetrack, and the Azerbaijan Tower (expected to be one of the tallest in the world). The $2 billion tower is to be the centerpiece of the Khazar Islands, a $100 billion city of 41 artificial islands that will spread 3,000 hectares over the Caspian Sea. All of these facilities are planned to be able to withstand up to magnitude 9.0 earthquakes. The city will be equipped with 150 bridges and a large municipal airport to connect the islands to the mainland. The project is scheduled to be completed between 2020 and 2025.
