4k Day-Trip Tour Hódmezővásárhely Hungary Europe

Hódmezővásárhely is a city in southeast Hungary, on the Great Hungarian Plain. The modern picture of the town was established at the turn of the century. These decades were characterised by the construction of wells, dynamic building operations, and the construction of canals. 70 per cent of the population, however, was engaged in farming and animal breeding.

Hódmezővásárhely’s natural treasure from a tourism point of view is, in addition to the Tisza landscape, the rich thermal water resources that feed the local beach baths and attract many guests every summer. With the largest administrative area in the country, the city of county law can become a significant educational, economic and artistic centre of the South Great Plain region, a city with an intimate atmosphere and a unique character, building on the local landscape and its diverse cultural traditions.

I Traveled to a Town Because it Had a Crazy Name

I arrived in Mako, a town in southern Hungary, looked on a map to see what else was in the area and saw another town nearby called Hodmezovasarhely. I thought the name was pretty interesting, so I decided to go there and see what it was like.

Hódmezővásárhely 2. rész

Hódmezővásárhely seceded from the county in 1873 and received the independent municipals rights. The first signs of industrialisation were apparent from that time. In 1890 Hódmezővásárhely was the fourth largest Hungarian town with 55,475 inhabitants.

Hódmezővásárhely 3. rész

The town is now a destination for foreign and domestic tourism. Museums, churches, triumphal wells, statues, parks, and a thermal swimming hall are notable attractions.
